We tried China Bros for Lunar New Year. I was looking for a place in San Marcos with egg drop soup, and China Bros popped up in Yelp. We ordered take out with two meals, an appetizer, and soup. Our total with tip was $50. My husband picked up the order, said the restaurant was very clean and nice inside. We tried the Sesame Chicken and Orange Chicken meals with white rice. Both were delicious! Best Sesame Chicken, with a light sweet sauce! Orange Chicken was sweet, not spicy at all. For an appetizer we tried the Crab Rangoon, my husband loved them! This is a little Chinese food restaurant in a strip mall. If you can imagine what you think Chinese food from a strip ball taste like ... you are spot on. Not bad, not great. The fried rice was a little bit dry for me and the noodles had too much fish sauce flavor (for my taste, anyways). The general chicken was not very spicy and did have a good flavor to it although I would have preferred it more garlicky. Overall -- it's checked the box of an easy Chinese food lunch. The price was very good and great value for the amount of food (about $11 for this lunch special). Lastly, the service here is extremely friendly and pretty quick. Just ate here for lunch today with a family of 5. We wanted a booth but they were just slightly too small so we had to sit at a regular table. Not a problem actually as all of the seats are padded. We each ordered a lunch menu item, which all come with half-and-half rice and chow mien noodles, plus a small egg drop soup. Lunch items are right around $10 each, and each of us got a heaping plate of food. HIGHLY worth the $10. We all liked our food. The orange chicken was not too sweet unlike other places (Panda). I got the Shrimp with Hot Garlic Sauce. Lots of sauce on this one. It ended up leaking out of the container after we got the rest to-go, so be sure to pack your leftovers well. The Beef with Broccoli was great. We also got the Bunny character buns. They looked cute but I didn't think they had a lot of filling. Not too sweet either. One thing to note: we noticed that some of the soy sauce bottles have a cracked lid. The one on our table wasn't screwed on tightly so we got soy sauce everywhere and had to exchange with another table. That one also had tape holding the lid together, so be aware. Also, they only had plastic forks. No metal forks. It's a little tough to eat heavy noodles with plastic forks. They don't have any beer options that I could see. We all chose water. The food was good but the serving habits of one of the guys working the front was awful. We ordered and sat and waited. I faced the counter at the first table. Food came out and was on a holding area. The guy working took off his baseball cap, rubbed his hands through his hair several times and put his cap back on all while over the food that just came out. I was horrified when he brought the food to my husband. We looked it over but didnt see the black hair until he had eater some of his sweet and sour pork. That's when we decided lunch was over! I called the guy over and quietly told him what I saw and what happened. He said sorry and walked away. I will add that he didnt wash his hands before serving. They lost 3 customers that day. You can either order take out, fry a family meal pack or get a solid $8-9 lunch special and dine in. The lunch special was the best option, served all the way to the late afternoon. This costs less than Panda Express. You get half fried rice half chow mein with a protein like orange chicken or Mongolian beef. You also get a soup. They make each dish to order, you aren't eating out of a large vat. The service was good, meal comes out within 10 minutes or so. We had been ordering from China bros at Escondido for about 2 years now and my husband and I were so excited when we found out they are opening up a location in San Marcos! They're now finally open and of course we're gonna get some Chinese food! The taste and quality of food was the same - delicious flavorful wings (could be cooked for a little shorter) and yummy orange chicken. The chow mein and fried rice were flavorful too. And don't forget their Taiwanese noodles! It's my favorite dish there! Speaking from a Chinese, I can't say their Chinese food was the best around, but definitely good, but for the portion and price, it's really amazing. You can find dishes for under $8. Nowadays you can't find food at this price point unless it's fast food. China Bros food is definitely way better than fast food! With reasonable expectations, this place is a 5 star. The doors to enter are two pull doors. Inside the seating is booths without moveable chairs. Experience: Ordered fried rice and it was fresh!
