To be abundantly clear, I do not work for the Monroe County Department of Health. If I did, I would shut this place down in a heartbeat. There are no gloves for utensil sharing and no plastic protections to prevent snotty six year olds from sneezing all over the dining options. The clearest giveaway should have been that the place was dead empty at peak dining hours on a Friday evening in a crowded strip mall on a main road in Henrietta. It was almost creepy. The weirdly-placed chandeliers and oddly-stained carpet only added to the eerie atmosphere. The food was pretty bad. Nobody goes to a Chinese buffet for an authentic Chinese experience, and I understand that. I've never been to China but I would imagine they don't serve garlic bread, pizza, chickie nuggies, California rolls or jello cubes as part of a traditional dinner. What upset me was the poor quality of all my Americanized Asian classics. The fried rice? Terrible. Lo mein? No where to be found. Sweet n sour chicken? No thank you. Dumplings? HOW DO YOU MESS UP DUMPLINGS?!?!? There was a large vat of egg drop soup that had physically congealed and solidified. I was disgusted. At 20 dollars per head, China Buffet is a massive waste of time, money, and calories. There is absolutely no reason for me to ever set foot in this "establishment" again, and I truly hope they do Monroe a favor and shut down soon. read more

Last week, I visited Rochester with a friend who offered to treat us to lunch at my choice of restaurant. I was hoping to find an all-you-can-eat sushi place, but one we went to using his GPS had apparently closed down. Instead, we decided to go to China Buffet. While I wished they had a wider selection of sushi, they did offer a Hibachi grill, four or five choices of ice cream, and a variety of other dishes. The ambiance was okay, although I don't recall hearing any background music. Overall, it was a decent buffet, but I've certainly been to better ones. read more

Very nice place, came in about an hour before close and they were super sweet and attentive, all dishes were cleared quickly, check dropped and picked up quickly but didn't feel any rush. They were more than welcoming, super clean place. We came late so the food on the top wasn't the warmest so I'd simply recommend picking from the bottom of the tray. Do not come here for good food at all. If you are in need of a lot of terrible food for a decent price, then this is your spot otherwise stay away. The decor when you first walk in is pretty eclectic but that's the only thing good about this place. The service - well there was none. Don't plan on getting any water or having someone at the hibachi station to make you something. In reality though you don't want anyone at that station though because it was beyond awful. The "Chinese" food and I guess the "American" food were all good defrosted from a freezer bag and thrown under a hot light buffet. The ice cream was even messed up having freezer burn all over it. Me and my family are super disappointed for dinner last night, by starting off with the food items, it wasn't hot or warm, it was cold for the hot food items, on top of that, the refill was a jokes,because I asked one of the cook or refiller worker if they can refill for some more crawfish and the crabs, he or she said that they don't have it anymore, but it was only 6:20 pm and you went out of seafood, it doesn't sound good at all, especially dinner barely started. On top of that, the worker standing by the buffet station makes me feel uncomfortable when me and my family were trying to choose our food items to eat, he or she was eye balling us like an hungry animal hunting for their preys. Throughout my whole meals, majority of the items either too salty or have a fun tastes to it, and there are some tasted weird, so I only take 1 bite and move on,and overall me and my family are very very disappointed and I don't think I would come back here again or recommend anyone to come here at all . read more

This place is hit or miss. Sometimes its really good, sometimes its just so-so. They have a pretty good variety of warm and fresh food. I've never had anything that was stale, cold, or bad, but sometimes its just bland. The food station areas are kept clean and stocked. Overall the place is fairly clean except the area by the entrance. The floors are visibly dirty. Not a great first impression. The price is about average with other buffets. The staff is generally friendly and helpful. Some of the booth seats are pretty rough. I thought I was going to fall through the seat the other day. If you're in the area and want a quick and cheap meal, not a bad place to stop at. read more

So this was our first time eating at China Buffet and it went like this...First off there's plenty of safe plaza parking and easy entrance for those who may need it...Next the room is huge and easy to get around...As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a server and directed to our table and told to go ahead and to the buffet...Now as we all know if you have seen one buffet you've seen them all and this is one is no different...6 kinds of chicken dishes, a fish dish, a meat dish or two, rice, soup, salads, noodles, sushi and here there is a grilling option which I do like...The hot and sour soup was just blah with little to no flavor...The rest of the fare was just okay and nothing really exciting or memorable...But that being said the staff was very nice and attentive to our needs...So all in all it was a cheap, fast and a consistent dinning experience of times gone by, even though it's 2023...Give them a try if you're in the area for a cheap meal... read more

I have been to this buffet for a while and the food was not overcook or undercook which is good. However food gets run out quick during busy hour which cookers need to improve on how to make large amount and able to keep it up with busy hour. That's way customers can enjoy and eat how much they want to eat. The organization of how they set up the food needs to change a bit. They need to make sure every slot of food is separated from other food slot with right serving spoon or fork because some people would take food with same serving spoon or fork because other slot may not have the serving spoon or fork therefore it may trigger other people with allergic. However, I still have a good experience there because people at restaurant is very nice and have a plenty of variety of food that we all can eat. It is perfect for getting together meal with a large group which you should consider if you are looking for a place to meet for a meal. read more

First of all let's start with the rice , the rice was HARD and crunchy , not how rice is supposed to be, the meat was over cooked and dry, they had little to no selections, the pizza was hard you could throw it at somebody head to knock them out, there was flies all over the dessert table, the hibachi? I guess the best way to say it is that this China buffet is on par with the other Chinese buffets in town. You are not here for the quality of the food, but the quantity. This place seems to have slightly fewer selections than the place down the road. Overall, the quality of the food was not bad, but not comparable to any standalone Chinese restaurant (i previously gave a review of the one in the mall). Service was as expected. Ample seating. The fountain that dominates the entryway was not turned on and looks a little under the weather - I remember that area of the Restaurant family during Chinese new year celebrations with the previous owners. No real unique Chinese dishes here, and that is a little disappointing. Stopped by for a meal when the place across the street was closed. I'm so glad I went by. The food was delicious and unlimited (since it's buffet style) adult lunch price $10 and adult dinner price is $13. It's affordable and really good. New opening! New excitement! Unfortunately it wasn't as exciting as I was hoping for. The only thumbs up I'm going to give this restaurant is it was clean and smelled nice. The floors were spotless, tables set up nicely with silverware and the staff at the counter were friendly. We grabbed our plates and started wondering from station to station. Everything was steaming so I assumed it was fresh and delicious. Well I was terribly wrong. Most of the food was dried out and over cooked. The chicken was very chewy and I couldnt cut it with my knife. The rice was hard and had no flavor. I love love LOVE lo mein and it's very hard to mess it up. But I ate one bite of it and couldn't eat the rest. There was no flavor other than cardboard. The veggies that were mixed in were either mushy or hard. The sugary donuts were pretty delicious. But you had to cut the out side off because you were going to chip a tooth If you didnt. I was there a whole whopping 15 minutes before I started to feel like utter garbage. I didnt get a second plate. I didnt even drink my Pepsi. The 2 other people I was with each only had half of their plate as well and they were not happy to say the least. What also annoyed me was when we were brought the check I didn't immediately get up to pay and leave because that's how awful my stomach was I wanted to just sit it out for a moment. Well I don't think they appreciated us taking up a booth for an extra 5-8 minutes. 2 of the staff members kept walking passed us and would pause in front of our table look at us look at the check then then back at us the walk away. Not even 50 seconds later the other one would do it. That happened about 5 times before I was like alright clearly I can't wait here. We paid about 40$ for the 3 of us and all we got out of it was extreamly sick and annoyed by the whole experience. For a buffet, the focus is more quantity than quality. This buffet was across the street and took over a location by a competing buffet. There is a decent selection of food, standard American Chinese dishes like lo mein and chicken w/ broccoli. Sushi selection is a bit smaller (was able to ask the chef for special sushi at old location). Food can be hit or miss depending on how long it's been sitting out. There is a hibachi/Mongolian grill where you choose your own ingredients and give to the chef to cook. Can get busy on weekends although more than enough seating. Depending on crowd, there are customers that will cut the line to the food, especially for popular items like seafood. read more

I loved this restaurant in the prior location, food was fresh and tasty. Now, after it moved to across the street, in a prettier location, the food quality went down. Chicken dishes were completely dry, beef was hard to chew , with lots of fat , and even the sweet and sour soup was not as good as previously. Very disappointed! More than Tandoor on most nights, but less than Grand Super and the many others on the Jefferson strip. The food is all very basic, with nothing that will really "wow" you. Not only is it just basic, it's as basic as Americanized Chinese food can get. With your variety being items like Sesame Chicken, Lo Mein. etc... Nothing really stands out, and nothing is memorable. The dumplings are pretty bad here. I'm a huge dumpling guy, and these ones are always very dry and bland in all the wrong ways. Nothing was horrifyingly bad though. But, nothing was amazingly good either... The meal comes to about 11 dollars or so, but for 2 dollars more you can go to Grand Super and get about 4 islands extra of additional choices. Pros : + Good service / polite staff + No wait time any time I've gone Cons : - Limited choices of food, you'll find yourself getting the same thing on each plate. We used to go here all the time because it was by far the best Chinese buffet in the area. That's changed. We went there today after not going for a couple of years. The best I can so for it now is that it was ok, barely. Because of what I did and still do part time I've eaten in Chinese restaurants around the country so I know good Chinese food when I find it. This WAS one of those places. The general toes chicken was flat, no flavor at all and the sesame chicken was half fat and grizzle. My wife always got there beef and broccoli but all they had was chicken and broccoli. She said it was the same as mine. Flat and full of fat and grizzle. They do have a large selection of food, Chinese, American & sushi. I'm sure you could find something that you could enjoy but for us we won't be going back. read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. The sushi bar doesn't have any actual fish, just fake crab in every roll to make you feel like you're eating sushi. The hot bar is less than mediocre and overall just makes you want to stop eating way earlier than you normally would at a buffet. I was in at 6:30 on Thursday. I have to say that the place looks good clean and new. Unfortunately the food was not so good. The food was dried out, cold, and some wasn't even edible. Their fried dishes such as the peppered chicken was mostly breading with an overdone tiny piece of hard chicken in the middle. For 11.99 a person I believe the quality should be better. I had my 4 year old son and 12 year old daughter with me. I asked for waters for all of us and they must not have kid cups, or if they did she didn't care. He ended up spilling his water on himself and waitstaff was no where to be found so I had to find my own napkins from other tables. I will not be eating there again.
