    14. Scallion Pancake
    Patrick P.

I was visiting family when in town for work, and had eaten at the location in Perinton years ago. Decided that I wanted to come back and try their location closer to downtown Rochester. Street parking is available, no charge for that. We encountered construction so we had to drive around for a bit but it was worth it. Seated immediately one arriving, we went with a couple appetizers- my personal favorite, the scallion pancake and the steamed bao with BBQ pork belly inside. That comes two to an order so it worked out nicely. Both were exceptional. The scallion pancake is like no other. Extra crispy, incredibly flavorful- and I love their dipping sauce. Vinegary, sweet and sour. The buns were pillowy soft and the pork belly was tender and full of that smoky BBQ taste. For entrees, we chose the Kung Pow Shrimp and the Singapore style curry noodles that came with shrimp, bbq pork, and beef. Both dishes were plentiful. The shrink was definitely spicy, you can see with all of the red chilies in the sauce, with the peanuts and celery pieces cut on the bias for a classy look. The portion on the Singapore noodles was very hefty...we upgraded our rice to fried rice so we had a lot of food today. All in all, this was an enjoyable visit. Since I am headed home tonight I wanted to be sure I had enough food to last me the rest of the day until I get back to ATL. This place ALWAYS delivers! Support small businesses!

After 3 years decided to try this spot once more. Ordered pan fried veggie dumplings, Crab Rangoons, mushroom buns, beef buns, beef and rice plate and the garlic noodles with mushrooms and added vegetables. I feel the noodles were too oily and the beef rice plate easy to my liking (flavor of beef). The mushroom buns had too much sauce. The beef buns were tasty. Loved the crab Rangoons and veggie dumplings. Idk... so far 50/50. No pics of buns.

This is the best Thai food I have had in Rochester, but would not have known to come here if I were just driving by. My parents told me about it. The taste is so authentic and the flavors are perfect. They also complete your order very fast and accurately. I had the pad Thai with tofu and for a moment I was unsure if the tofu was really tofu due to the way it looked. It was definitely tofu and was prepared perfectly! During my next visit to Rochester, I will be stopping here for sure. I highly recommend you try this. If you are in the area I have included some pictures of the outside of the building so you will know what to look for.

The weather was too cold to go out so we had our order delivered. I ordered the Shrimp with Pecans which was very tasty! The shrimp was jumbo! I will definitely order again from this restaurant and hopefully be able to dine in the restaurant!

Coming into Han Noodle Bar, I was initially impressed by the decor of the restaurant and the way I could see the kitchen from the front door of the restaurant. I got the xo seafood stir fry noodle while my wife got the beef brisket soup noodle and we were both very happy and blown away at the quality of the ingredients used. My dish came with squid and shrimp that were cooked to perfection, while my wife's brisket was soft and tender. The chili sauce was also quite delicious and helped to elevate the dishes. Service was great and speedy. Will definitely come back.

They moved down the street to a bigger space. It has a large mural when you come in and a lot of seating. They seem to have a great take out business. Food.. depending on what you get can be absolutely stellar or a meh.. also what restaurant is closed on a Wednesday? Our server was pleasant and efficient. The Crab Rangoon was fried hard.. it finally grew on me amd they sweet chili sauce was tasty. The Dan Dan Noodles were presented beautifully and everything was hot and fresh. But it was just hot and no umami I was kind at a loss. My husband got the Szechuan Chickrn with fresh veggies and the chicken was tasty and came with rice. The do bring you water but if you want a soft drink it's in a can with a straw. Since at this location we have ordered from them for delivery and it's online ordering only don't call in to order., I'll give them 3.5 outta 5 They have a small parking lot

We ordered online, and I'm gluten free, so this might have taken away from the experience. My food was all pretty bland. I got the Dan Dan noodles, and they didn't have much flavor. They had a numbing sensation, which might have come from spice. I also got the hot and sour soup, and again, it was a little sour, but not as umami as other hot and sour soups I've had. And it wasn't spicy, which was unusual. My fiancée got sesame chicken, which was good! And crab rangoons which were also pretty good! The egg fried rice that came with the chicken was lacking seasoning. The steamed buns he got were also good! I would like to sit in at this restaurant and see if my experience is any different.

Chinese Eggplant with Tofu in Bean Curd Sauce and Curry Tofu
    Mariah N.

Really nice new location, lots of seating and quick service. Great tofu options for vegetarians as well! We got the curry tofu and the Chinese eggplant with tofu in bean curd sauce. The curry tofu was solid, we only got it mildly spicy but it was still flavorful. The eggplant with tofu was the favorite of the night! Salty and delicious, the eggplant and tofu are both cooked really well and go together very nicely in this dish.

I haven't been to the physical location but I've ordered Doordash twice (and it came very quickly). Both times I got the Garlic Soy Sauce Tofu Noodle with hand cut flat noodles. The portions were good sized, full of noodles, tofu, broccoli, and bok choy. It comes in a light garlic sauce and I ate most of the broccoli despite not usually being a huge fan of it. My husband got a dish with tomatoes and liked it though he was complaining there aren't appetizers on the menu. Understandable as it's a one person operation. I'd like to try the other noodle option for this dish (regular thin noodles) but the hand cut is so good I will probably keep getting it! On the website I see you can create your own dish with noodle, protein and veggie choice - this is also going on my to do list.

I initially had pizza in mind, but as someone who's traveled extensively and spent more hours than I can count exploring Chinatowns in LA, San Francisco, and NYC, I was excited to see Seasons' Noodle and decided to give it a try. The staff could not have been nicer--warm, welcoming, and clearly passionate about their work. I truly admire independent chefs and restaurateurs like Yan, and always try to support businesses like this. I ordered the Spicy Shrimp Noodle, and while the portion was generous and the presentation solid, I left feeling a bit disappointed. The noodles themselves were nicely done, with a satisfying chew, but the dish as a whole didn't quite come together. The sauce was thin and watery, which left everything feeling separate instead of integrated. The shrimp lacked seasoning and didn't absorb or hold onto any of the sauce, which made the dish feel unbalanced--more like a bowl of ingredients than a cohesive noodle experience. Given the restaurant's inspiration from Northern China--where noodles are often hearty, robust, and well-sauced--I was hoping for something a bit more bold and unified in flavor. In Northern Chinese cuisine, the noodles and sauce should almost cling to one another, often enhanced with garlic, chili oil, or vinegar to bring depth and warmth. Here, it just felt like that final spark was missing. The Mercantile on Main itself is a cool and thoughtfully restored space with a lot of character--it's housed in the historic Sibley Building, once the largest department store between New York City and Chicago. It's now a food hall and gathering space that blends the city's history with a modern vibe. That said, on the day I visited, they were setting up for an event, which made the atmosphere a bit chaotic and distracting--probably just a case of bad timing. I don't live in Rochester, but if I did, I'd give Seasons' another try. Everyone has an off day, and maybe I just didn't order the right thing. I'm still rooting for Seasons' Noodle--because the heart and hospitality are definitely there.

Head chef Nalee Phommachanh had the vision alongside owner (and sister-in-law) Vilay Sysavath. The family- run business offers a diverse and authentic Southeast Asian menu, a quarterly rotating chef specials menu with paired rotating drinks, and a full-service bar with specialty Soju-based cocktails and other Asian-fusion beverages. My wife and I were in Rochester for a thrift show and wanted to grab some lunch. We love Vietnamese, pho is one of my favorite foods, so we decided to give them a try and we were glad we did. The restaurant is small and jam packed full of tables, but we were still able to be sat and given menus immediately around 2PM on a Saturday. We decided to order a bunch of things and share them. Obviously, we got a bowl of pho, along with an order of egg rolls, a chicken lemongrass plate, and a couple of Thai teas. Our food took a bit to come, but it was pretty busy, and we were very happy with our food. Everything was delicious. The grilled chicken from the platter had awesome lemongrass flavor, the pho's broth was flavorful, the egg rolls were absolutely amazing, and the portions were huge - we had plenty to take home afterwards. Employees were friendly, prices were comparable to similar restaurants. We'd definitely go again if in the area.

Unsurprisingly, I originally visited to try the pho itself. While the pho is served with a plate of Thai basil, hoisin, siracha, sprouts and lime to add flavor, I'm still somewhat regularly disappointed in the lack of umami flavor in the broth itself. It lacks some depth. There are also times when my broth wasn't quite as hot as I would have wanted. Generally, the pho is fine... but there are better options around Henrietta and Rochester. Just something to keep in mind. I've had a variety of other dishes as well, and the pork banh mi is another that could use some improvement. In the couple times that I've had it, it seems to be very dry. I want a scrumptious banh mi with plenty of pickled veggies and a flavorful pork... but that isn't what I've experienced here. It's served with a broth on the side, and that's fine... but I want my flavor *IN* the sandwich... without having to use a broth as a substitute to add moisture to the meat or flavor to the sandwich. On a recent visit, I brought my mother. She ended up ordering the shrimp fried rice for her lunch, and, while the size was large (she ended up needing a takeout container to bring about half of it home), she found the dish to be lacking in flavor and components (noting that more vegetables might have been nice). During this visit, I also ordered the spicy cucumber salad for the first time... and also found *that* side lacking in flavor. There was an itsy bitsy amount of spice... but for something marked on the menu as spicy? It wasn't what I was expecting. Service was fine, and the overall ambience of the restaurant is inviting and clean. The entrance/exit can be a bit rough for cars that are a bit lower to the road... just something to be aware of.

While visiting on a cool night, the Dan Dan Noodles sounded really appealing to me, and they did not disappoint! The bowl was a large portion with a good amount of noodles and tender, juicy ground pork. The broth was hot and spicy, but also flavorful...the heat was not too overpowering for me. I was very happy with my meal, but also happy to taste some other items we got to share. Edamame always seems like a good way to start a meal...these were overly salted for my liking. The scallion pancake was okay...a little small with just four thin pieces. More successful were the namesake dumplings. I really liked their versions of Xaio Long Bao - both the original pork and shrimp varieties contained delicious broth and fillings. We also shared the pork and chive dumplings, beef dumplings, and pork and corn dumplings...and we would order all of them again! The orange chicken was also an enjoyable dish to share, and good way to add some variety to the plethora of dumplings. I'm sure they get a lot of young customers from RIT and UofR, and the music catered more to this audience - it was a bit loud for my preference.
