This is my new favorite Chinese restaurant. Everything I had was delicious. Not sure why I waited so long on trying it. There's been a few times I was going to order here, but then backed out. I think when it comes to Chinese food, we tend to get attached to a favorite place, even if you know in your heart that the food doesn't quite hit like it once did. I'm glad I finally decided to pull the trigger. In the past, I would have put Tsingtao house in a category of more upscale, pricier, Chinese restaurant...but these days, even the hole in the walls are pricey! Truthfully, for what I ordered at Tsingtao, I thought the prices were a tremendous value, given the quality of the food is top tier! My recommendation is anything with garlic sauce! I wouldn't call it super authentic compared to the restaurants you'll find in bigger cities but it was a step above the average Chinese-American spot. It was super busy on a Saturday night, it was a bit hard to find parking since it's tucked away in the side of the building. Service was typical but nothing special. We basically had to come to the counter to be sat, get checks, boxes, etc The food: We got cumin lamb, sesame chicken, and hot and sour soup. The cumin lamb was a bit different than what I was expecting compared to what I had at other restaurants, but the peppers were a nice touch. The sesame chicken was great but the hot and sour soup was a little watery. Overall it's worth checking out but not somewhere I'd visit often. read more

I can't speak to the ambiance or atmosphere of the place since I got takeout, but the food is so good!! I got the Seafood Tofu Hot Pot. The chunks of fish were perfectly cooked and the tofu was so juicy and tender. The shrimp were huge. They didn't skimp on portions at all. I saw other reviews prior to going, so I was a little concerned about the service-- but the real answer is that there was one woman taking care of the dining room as well as the phone-- she was working her butt off and I don't really care that she had the phone on her shoulder when she came to the table! I've had Tsingtao in my bookmarks for approximately 5 years! We finally made a plan to go dine in over the long weekend and I am SO GLAD we did. We had a really enjoyable experience and look forward to trying everything on the menu. I had a million questions prior to arriving when noticing that the Yelp reviews were alllllll over the place. Menu: classic, delicious Szechuan dishes and Americanized additions to accomodate all palates. HUGE menu with tons of options made it hard to decide - beef, pork, veggie, chicken, seafood, and noodle dishes galore. We went with the Singapore Mei Fun, Beef broccoli, fried dumplings, and scallion pancakes. Everything was perfect. The mei fun had shrimp, egg, chicken, and a LIGHTLY spicy sauce. Would order that again any day. Beef broccoli is super fresh and tender, served in tasty strips, not the usual tough hunks you get elsewhere. Tea is served upon arrival and we were SO excited to round out the meal with fresh tasty watermelon before paying our check. All of our food cost $45 with tip, an absolute steal considering we had lunch for two more days. Serve staff here is incredible and provided all of the details we needed to have an awesome experience. No alcohol on the menu, and I did see a party BYOB, though I would call and double check and ask. I can't wait to make this a regular in my rotation! Been looking for a good duck dish for lunch. I was in Henrietta, googled that and this place showed up. 4 stars so I'm thinking ok great. Well the only duck they do is Peking for 60 bucks, that's a no for lunch.. I ordered hot and sour soup, crispy salt and pepper squid, and a. Specially lamb lunch dish( I used to raise sheep, lamp is one of my favorite proteins) the soup had nothing but tofu , no scallion, no veg , just a corn starch slurry and nothing. The squid was big chunks of over battered tasteless pile, no kind of dipping sauce. The lamb, if that's what it was , could have been beef, pork?? Was oily with no flavor. So happy they do delivery now on Yelp via Grubhub. I have always loved this restaurant but had to try out their lunch specials. I like variety in my Chinese food dishes so I went with the sour mustard pork intestines, sautéed fish with vegetables and the beef chow fun noodles. Can't beat the price for $9.84 each and each of the specials comes with a side of white rice and hot and sour soup. What was even nice of them was the restaurant even called me after the delivery had gotten here to let me know they had forgotten the white rice with my orders since they were so busy so one of their restaurant staff personally dropped it off herself and was very apologetic. All-star service and thank-you Tsingtao house. My stomach is full and satisfied and the dishes were perfect, exactly what I needed to satisfy my Chinese food cravings. 3.5 STARS BUT WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO GIVE HALF STAR. Had the pleasure of coming here a few months back and just got around to leaving a review. The restaurant is very east to miss if you weren't looking for it. When you go in, the dining room is on the smaller side and almost looking like a small cafeteria. The place could definitely use a good cleaning and dusting. The good news is, the food is great! I went here with my boyfriend and we ended up getting the whole steamed Halibut and two bowls of beef noodle soup. The food took a while to come out, but the restaurant was packed so it was understandable. The Halibut was the highlight of the meal. Delicious and fragrant; It was full of flavor. The spicy noodle soups were tasty and came in a large bowl so the portions were good. The prices were a bit expensive for select dishes, and I didn't feel like the service was that great. This place looks like a local favorite for traditional Cantonese food and a lot of the customers seemed to be regulars. It's always a good sign when the people coming in to eat speak in the same language as the people serving the food. All in all, the food was delicious and had large portions. What a gem! A pretty small and unassuming place from the outside, I am really glad I gave this place a try. Tried the special sour mustard boil fish, a seafood combination hotpot, and a beef noodle stew. The fish was delicious! Spicy, tender pieces of fish with mustard greens that soak up all the flavor of the goodness. I also really liked the beef stew; it was not what I expected look-wise (not the most beautiful presentation, but that's not what I'm there for) but it was delicious! The food here is more authentic than most other Chinese restaurants in Rochester. There are some American Chinese dishes as well. The food is well and quickly prepared. There is beer and soda for drinks. The service is quick and excellent, and prices are reasonable. The lunch menu includes several of the main menu items for reduced price and portion, that portion being more than enough, and well worth the ten dollars it cost. Amazing! Our go to Chinese spot after going here recently. Friendly and pleasant staff. We had a scallion pancake and pork buns for an appetizer. Both great but the pork buns really stood out for me. Oh em gee!! I normally don't eat at too many Chinese restaurants because I'm very picky and prefer authentic dishes, not the fast food takeout. Tsingtao house is exactly what I've been looking for! The flavors were so pleasing to my taste buds and the visual colors excited my eyes. I went for sit down dinner on Lunar New Year (Covid style), so they were VERY backed up. Completely understandable and the hostess did warn me upfront that it would be quite a wait. I didn't mind, because I really wanted to try the food in the spirit of the holiday and celebration. Soups came out first and my goodness the shrimp wonton soup was SO good! Very big bowl portions. One order was enough to share with at least three people! The fact that this place is kinda hole in the wall-ish, tucked in some alley between the tai chi tea place and some other store fronts is already a bonus for me, oh and then you see a lot of Chinese people as soon as you walk in and hear mostly Chinese language, makes me feel like this place is promising in authenticity and flavor. I would say, overall, i was pleasantly surprised as I expected too bland food or too immature sauces/brewing. We ordered the dumplings, chicken and potato casserole, and eggplant. The good thing is, everything was pretty authentic- a little more oily and saucy than what is considered truly authentic, but I'll take it. I'm a little far from Philadelphia's Dim Sum Garden and NYC's Flushing China town, so I really got little options and this was pretty good! Eggplant: Any eggplant dish is always gonna be oily if you're gonna eat out. So watch out. Eat this dish with lots of rice, that or squeeze out your sauce/oil with your spoon against the plate. This dish was correctly flavored and not too thin in complexity- that is, the chef did not skimp on an ingredient- a very mature and good sauce, albeit being a little oily. Now, if only this eggplant had been cooked with salt ahead of time before the sauce was cooked over it, the inside of the eggpalnt was soft but not as well salted inside so the salt stayed on the outside of the eggplant in the sauce. Otherwise a pretty good dish. 13.99$ Chicken and Potato Casserole- Ok, so a Chinese casserole is not a baked dish with pasta and cheese and ground meat in it... it's usually a nicely stewed very nicely layered dish. This is usually meat that has been stewing and brewing for hours to get a super tender and well marinated dish. This chicken was tender like a fish- we were surprised it was chicken! My only thing about this dish is... the potatoes were probably cooked separately and then dumped int this dish with the chicken which is a pity b/c the potatoes were too hard and undercooked and not as flavorful. 15.99$ Dumplings- definitey not your taken out of the freezer made by a machine kind of get up. This was one of those hand rolled flour with some Chinese auntie skilfully doling out a perfect spoon of well marinated, mixed pork veggie into the center of the wrapper and then quickly deftly pinching it shut. It was fried on top of a corn starch and water combination to achieve a crispy bottom. Well done. Reminds me of Flushing, NY in those skilled hard to find dumpling makers we dont see anymore in modern restaurants. 8.99$ for fried 10 pieces, 12 pieces steamed. I'll definitely be back more. Price is reasonable and flavors were authentic and mature enough. read more
