I came with some friends for the Hot Pot. It was a lot of fun; we all had different broths and different meats. The buffet consists of veggies, seaweeds, dumplings, eggs, noodles, etc The dumplings were particularly good.I ordered the Fatty Beef, flavorful.

This is one of the only, if not the only, hot pot place I know of in the area. The selection is smaller than other hot pots I've been to in other cities, but they have a solid selection of meats for BBQ and hot pot. We tried the spicy broth, which was excellent. Really good ma-la heat and numbing. The pork and beef were very good, my friend had the crab and enjoyed it. We were hoping for a few more options in the add-in bar, but they still had most of the standards and lots of sauces to choose from. Service was friendly and appropriately attentive for an AYCE hot pot. And you can't beat the price of $20 per person. I would definitely return.

A first time for me and I went with a friend who's a regular and was able to show me the ropes. We both ordered the Chicken Hot Pots and what a great experience! You choose a broth and then they bring it out and place it on your burner and you control the temperature. The choice of toppings, veggies and sauces to add were incredible and all for just $20. I look forward to bringing my kiddos here, I know they'll love it! The service was also excellent!

As an update, I've been here many times since my previous reviews. They have changed their menu somewhat. I'm always a fan of the spicy malaa stir fry (though the taste is sometimes inconsistent; some days are more flavorful than others). This time, we tried the AYCE hot pot. $20 is for the serve yourself/bar area. You do have to pay extra for meat, which makes this a more pricey option than I expected. Expect to pay an additional $6-7 for each 10-12 pieces of meat which can add up. That being said, everything was clean and the sauce bar has a good range of options. The options here are less than other places I've been to (but can't fault a smaller town restaurant) but solid for when you're craving AYCE.

I decided to order delivery to work for lunch. Everything arrived on time, hot and fresh. I ordered the Hot & spicy chicken combo (fried rice adn Veggie roll). The veggie roll wasn't as crispy as I like them, but it was good, good flavors to it. The hot and spicy chicken had a nice sauce, big chunks of peppers and onions, and plenty of chicken. I would have to say this was pretty mild for hot & spicy. I was expecting more kick to it but it was still good. The fried rice was very good, especially mixed with the sauce. I'm happy (and stuffed, ugh food coma) with my lunch and will order from them again.

Got to the restaurant around 830. Server comes over to our hot pot table around 845. I explain to the server we are a party of 6 and already ate dinner a few hours before we got to the restaurant in celebration of my younger brother's 41st birthday. My brother wanted some hot pot late at night and so here we are. The waiter incessantly insisted that we have to do the buffet option (buffet menu attached to this review) and that was our only option available. I reiterated that we all ate dinner earlier and we shall not be doing the buffet option due to not being hungry. I told the waiter we wanted to do the regular hot pot version that we have all done before. The waiter continued pushing the buffet hotpot and told us this was the cheapest way possible. I knew this to beuntrue as we have been here before. After he realized we are all too full for an ayce hot pot buffet he finally came back to the table with the normal menu and hands it to my brother, the birthday boy. Finally things are going our way until I ask for another regular menu to be told that is the only menu in the whole restaurant. Lies once again as I saw him grab it from a stack. They had a feeling I was going to snap pictures of the regular hot pot menu as I began snapping pictures of the buffet menu. My brother who had the regular hot pot menu ordered for the table. Even with him over ordering, it was still cheaper than the hot pot buffet option that the waiter was pushing. He order 3 different hot pots. My mother said the tom yum soup was too sour with not enough balance of sweet (we are Lao and we know this soup very well). My wife got the vegetable broth and said it was extremely bland. My brother said his spicy broth was not too bad, hence why it is 1 star and I did not start off with saying I wish I could give it 0 stars. With the food and service being mediocre at best and the restaurant trying to push their ayce option, I am confident we shall not be going back.

    a variety of food items

Solid service, individualized hot pots per person. Overall with a meat dish and AYCE hot pot (meat is additional per plate), and tip tax included it was about $30. There's enough of variety with the AYCE buffet. Only thing is that everyone in the party has to do AYCE or not. Can't mix and match. So make sure everyone in your group is on the same page about getting AYCE vs ordering entrees (there is a separate menu)

Great lunch spot, still not offering indoor dining so you have to take it to go. Probably one of the best places for sesame chicken!

    Excited for food lol

Is any meat included with the hot pot?

There are a large number of meat options to include in the hot pot, although they can become a bit expensive

Would they be able to accommodate Gluten free? I feel like the hot pot broth and meats and veggies would easily be GF...but not sure about use of soy sauce or what would be in broth!

Actually traditional soy sauce does contain gluten. The 4 main ingredients to Soy sauce are : soybeans, wheat, salt and water so you would want to check what kind of soy sauce they use. It will all depend on how sensitive to gluten you are whether…

The spot has that old-school Chinese takeout vibe: simple, clean, and focused on flavor, not flash. --- What I Ordered: General Tso's Chicken Shrimp Lo Mein Crab Rangoons Egg Roll Steamed Dumplings --- General Tso's Chicken: Sweet, spicy, and crispy - exactly how it should be. The sauce had a good kick without overpowering the flavor. Chicken was tender inside with that golden crunch. Easily one of the best in the area. Shrimp Lo Mein: Noodles were cooked just right - not too greasy, not too dry. Shrimp was fresh and had good bite. Could use a little more garlic or soy for depth, but still solid. Crab Rangoons: Creamy, crunchy, and packed with flavor. These were a hit. You get that satisfying crunch with the creamy crab filling - not overly sweet like some spots do. Steamed Dumplings: Soft and juicy with a flavorful pork filling. Dipping sauce was on point. Not doughy, just right. Egg Roll: Golden and crispy with a nice balance of cabbage and pork inside. Great with the duck sauce. --- Pros: Big portions, great value Fast service Hits all the nostalgic Chinese takeout cravings Clean and well-packaged Cons: Lo mein could use a little more flavor Limited seating (best for takeout) --- Final Verdict (8.9/10): New Number One Chinese Restaurant is bringing the heat. Both qualities that I tend to like as long as a restaurant is clean... and Chen's was. The food was decent but nothing special. The garlic sauce didn't taste like garlic... More like brown sugar really. The sweet and sour wasn't great either. To be fair, the friends that we went with loved their dinners. The killer was the rude server. We had barely finished eating and weren't planning to linger but apparently finishing our drinks and chatting for five minutes was a bit too much for him. He told us that there were customers waiting and that we had to leave. I might note that there were a few empty tables at that time but even if there weren't that poor behavior was uncalled for. We won't be going back to Chen's.

Everything was hot and delicious and taste like NYC dim sum (iykyk) except -the turnip cake (too oily and mushy) - fried dough noodle (too much wrapping, dough not fresh and crispy enough) - egg tarts (new and only available on weekends according to their menu - I am a BIG egg tarts fan and unfortunately these were disappointing: crust was fine but filling was baked eggs and not the classic flan-like type of an egg tarts). 3-4 other families came in for dim sum, it was more lively and they turned on low classical music so lovelier ambiance than when we first walked in. Wait staff was very friendly and polite. Only negative thing were the sticky plastic spoons they gave to share the congee bowl. After recovering from a recent stomach bug I have to be super critical of dining utensils so gotta ding a star off for that. Prices were more expensive than normal for dim sum but we were expected that - just glad they didn't decrease the quantity like some places! All in all, we would come back again for dim sum :)

Given that I was very hungry and didn't have much of my lunch hour left, I told them to remake it. I dis tell them that I felt they should give me a refund and remake the meal, but they said that they could not do that. Now, when I was going to RIT (back in the day), I remember this being a Might Taco... but I'm quite delighted to see it as an OG Dumpling House location too! (Though it's probably a good thing that it wasn't a dumpling house when I was in college, because those freshman 15 would have been aaaaaaaaaall because of the soup dumplings.) You can order takeout or sit in the restaurant. Our getting offered a table when we first got there was a bit discombobulated, but we were asked after a few minutes if we wanted to sit or takeout and we confirmed we wanted to eat in the restaurant. After another minute or two, we were given our table. Because of the time waiting for our table, we had already decided on what we wanted to eat and drink... so we were able to order pretty quickly. We ordered the xiao long bao, of course, as well as steamed pork bao, and then fried green beans, fried calamari, and shumai to share. The items came out quickly enough... but as we were making our way through the plates, I was a bit surprised that our server wasn't also taking away plates that we'd finished. In most dim sum-type restaurants I've visited, it's common for the server to take finished plates away throughout the service to ensure you have room on the table for anything else that might be coming out. Since the tables in this location are perhaps a bit on the smaller side, we soon found ourselves running out of enough space to really spread out the plates to share. The soup dumplings are good... though they perhaps didn't have broth that was quite as flavorful as I'd been hoping for. I'm glad we visited, as OG Dumpling House has been on my list to try for quite a while. Now that the craving is appeased though, I'll be happy to try another one of Rochester's Chinese or dim sum-style restaurant locations.
