Had the price been any higher, likely three stars. Stick to the familiar items (the veggies, egg rolls, all chicken dishes) you will be happy and satisfied. What you wont find at China Buffet are quality, premium items - fresh seafood for the most part. You wont find mussels, a hibatchi bar, clams or crab legs. They did have some fried and small peel n eat shrimp. AVOID the sushi - 90% rice with soft soggy texture. The restaurant is clean but drab (awful mint aquafresh wall color) The lady was very nice - poor thing does front desk AND dish clearing and tries very hard. Overall, if you want staple take out dishes at a fair price, China Buffet is a decent choice. If you expect premium seafood, hibatchi bar, and quality sushi - not your scene. Came in Monday at 12:30, lunchtime. Food was hot, fresh and tasty. I sampled sushi, stick chicken, fries, kimchi, dicon, hot sour soup and a cup of tea. Everything I sampled was very tasty. I do like spicey, wished the kimchi had more of a kick as well as the soup. The service is attentive but the ambiance is tremendously lacking. The carpets should be eliminated!! My nose was so runny and I know it's due to the dirty carpets. The furniture is runned down. The backing of the chairs were filthy. I didn't use the restroom but hope it wasn't like the chairs! been coming here since I was 8 and it's always been good every time. The food is delicious (not sure about authentic) but it is always good as you will get. I was craving Chinese buffet but wanted to be in a specific area, so my husband and I went to China Buffet in York. We had a mediocre experience. Maybe it's because we were there earlier than usual dinner. The buffet seemed pretty empty with most of the standard buffet dishes: fried rice, lo mein, chicken and broccoli, coconut shrimp, pepper steak. And none of it was bad. Things were a little bland, but at least fresh as pans turned over. The dining room is clean. One glove was provided for your spoon hand. This is a small family run restaurant. They serve quality food at a very reasonable price. When I worked as a commercial driver I would grab lunch or dinner there evey Friday after unloading in York. When businesses were forced to close due to pandemic the wife was kind enough to let me in and prepared a meal for me. She made enough for me to pack for the drive back home. I went to the buffet on 06/29/2019 for dinner around 8:30pm. The staff is very friendly and polite, the restaurant and bathrooms are clean, and the food selection overall is decent. Dinner as of right now starts at $11.29 which includes foods like General Tso Chicken, Salmon, Shrimp, Sushi, Crab Meat, etc. They also have a dessert section and have Hershey brand ice cream cups. I have been coming to this location in Way Past when it was "Awon" till the grandfather retired; it (this location) had a few failed attempts by other's that tried to (unrelated people) re-open in this location, But it wasn't till current (past family) owner, talked with shopping center owner('s), to come in and clean-up & revamp this location, that it would once again under new family owner, be a fantastic place to bring friends & family to eat some great food with good variety & price. Personally my experience was strange. I had weird things in my chicken like rubbery chucks and bones. They don't change the pans that the food is in they just dump more in. I've been going here on and off since I was a kid. I like the food, it's reliable Chinese food (and some other options, kid-friendly stuff, fresh fruit, etc). They don't use MSG, which really matters to some of us! They make the kind of chicken-on-a-stick that is my family's absolute favorite, and great eggdrop soup, as well as a tasty, quality fried rice and some other staples of Chinese food restaurants. I always feel fine on the food (and my stomach tends to be pretty picky). Anyway, once you know what you like, it'll be there reliably. Oh, and in the fall, they add some delicious cranberry sauce (the best I've ever eaten; I don't know how they make it but it's something special). I always look forward to that. I also like that it's a family run business and they've always been kind and patient with everybody: big families, little kids, old people, special needs people, just whoever stops by. My husband and I stopped here for lunch. They had a good variety of Chinese food and American food to choose from on the buffet. Everything looked fresh and all the items I had tasted good. They even had basic sushi rolls, whole shrimp and salmon. So, what we thought we were getting great food, was not the case. Our food was very cold off of the buffet. When I spoke to someone that worked there was told we should of stirred that food on the buffet before putting on our plates. I can't believe this place was rated so highly. It was the second most disgusting Chinese buffet we have ever been to. Everything was LUKEWARM and TASTELESS. Seriously, not one dish was even tasty. The shrimp had spoiled (my husband and I both had food poisoning later) and several other dishes were suspect. Pretty sure several of the "chicken" dishes either were not actually chicken (or the chicken was spoiled too!) The egg drop soup was a weird orange color and my husband literally gagged when he tasted it.
