I've been coming here for over 20 years and never had any problems here. I find that they have one of better egg rolls and hot and sour soups in the area from the all the Chinese restaurants that I've tried in the area. I've never had anything bad here and the only complaint I have is that hot on the menu isn't hot to me so I have to order extra hot. read more

General Tso's Chicken was not bad but was far from spicy, despite asking it to be as hot as possible. Worst Lo Mein and Fried Rice we have ever had. Very bland. The garlic in the egg rolls was overpowering and I LOVE GARLIC. The food was hot temperature wise. read more

Walking in I was surprised by the place. It is gorgeous very clean and lots of plants. We ordered take out and the staff was very friendly. We didn't have to wait long for our food. We ordered 2 spring rolls, chicken lo mein and steak lo mein which was all delicious. We will definitely be back. read more

I wish there was a 3.5 because i ordered from Uber eats. Even though the crab rangoons were cold they were delicious and the veggie spring roll showed up soggy and it was somehow amazing. Had to knock off 2 stars bc the Kung pao chicken was not traditional and also was pretty gross and ended up tossing. For some reason the only thing on their menu I can actually stomach is the veggie fried rice. I have tried a couple of other menu items but just was not satisfied at all but as mentioned they do have some of the best vegetable fried rice and great customer service I usually go there for lunch read more

This is the worse "Chinese" restaurant I've ever eaten at. I ordered 6 egg rolls and an order of pot stickers. The egg rolls were supposed to be chicken egg rolls. There was not one little peice of chicken in any of them. As a matter of fact there wasn't anything except cabbage in the egg rolls. Now the pot stickers they looked like pot stickers but you're not gonna believe it when I tell you what was inside the pot stickers. Did you guess it? Cabbage! Cabbage! Cabbage, and nothing else! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!! Please!Literally the worst thing I've ever eaten I ordered two meal bourbon chicken and sesame seed chicken. WAY over cooked and let get down to the bottom line the gave me the same chicken and just sprinkled sesame seeds on one the sauce taste like sweet syrup and was super lumpy like the used flour as a thickener. I called and ask for my money back and they pretended like they didn't remember my order. I am now going to go through my bank because you can't feed people this stuff. First, NEW Owner, Completely rehabbed outside and very cleaned up interior. Same good american chinese food but have added Thai food too! Very pleasant and still my goto for stir fried and sweet & sour chicken. Tried new Pineapple rice (Thai) which has a dash of curry and cashews. Not too spicy and good. Was very disappointed. I placed an order for some pot stickers. I arrived to the restaurant to pay for my order with my debit card because I don't carry cash. I was advised that they have a $5.00 min. In order to use my card. There is no signs posted at the restaurant or online saying that there is a $5.00 min for card purchases. And to add insult to injury they guy told me I can add the difference to your order. I do not plan on returning. My money will go someplace else. read more

Went with my family with young children. Atmosphere was really nice. Staff was super attentive and courteous. Daniel waited on us keeping our waters full and needs met. He even went back to the kitchen staff to have them accommodate for our vegan diet. Later I overheard him clarifying an order in Spanish to some Spanish-speaking patrons. Food was absolutely delicious - even my kids were raving about their bourbon tofu, green beans, fried rice, and vegetable delight. Highly recommend. read more

I've been coming here since they opened in 1982. Sincerely, they are responsible for my deep love of all types of Asian food. So, I too had​ been privy to the decline in quality and service in my favorite Chinese takeout over the last couple of years. Admittedly, my visits became less and less frequent. So, I am thrilled to see the complete turn around that has happened under their new management. The place looks great and the food is outstanding. Fresh, flavorful Chinese-American standards. Hands down best fried rice anywhere. Money bag style fried wontons full of pork and vegetables. Shrimp in lobster sauce is amazing and they have kept my favorite, Chicken General. BONE IN chicken in a tangy sauce full of citrus, ginger and spice with large chunks of stir fried zucchini. This is not chicken nuggets tossed in overly sugary red sauce. I am excited to try some of the newer Thai inspired items, as well. I am often reluctant to review a place, but I always want to support a small local business that is working hard to make an impression. It's great to see China Chef continue to grow. The restaurant void that is Colerain is certainly desperate for something not operated by a chain. read more

I use to frequent this place pretty consistently, but over time the quality and cleanliness of the establishment seemed to diminish. It hit its low point when the owner started charging for chopsticks (yeah ... you had to pay for chopsticks) ... I stopped eating here until I noticed signage changes and apparent interior renovations. (Whoever runs this place now should invest in an "Under New Ownership" sign. It could help convince others to give the place a re-try!) ... The food is technically the same as it was back in the day (I usually only have their lunch - I need to try some of their new Thai dishes) - somehow the chicken wings (having had them twice now) seem to be less crunchy and flavorful. If the owner is reading this, maybe take that into consideration) - but the overall experience has bounced back enough to make this my go-to local Chinese eatery once again. I wouldn't mind seeing the new owner take a couple chances on changing up some of the menu. Maybe rehab the eggrolls (they still have that odd graininess to the texture - possibly offer a selection of rolls). Maybe also try delivery (I do not know if they are on a GrubHub or UberEats type system) ... I really want to see this place succeed and grow. Good job thus far. read more

I had a carry-out order Friday, October 17th. I ordered 2 egg rolls at 1.20 each, and one combo fried rice totaling 5.75 for a grand total of 8.15. In checking my statement, I was charged 8.97. I called yesterday and talked to the same man who waited on me Friday evening. He said "Oh, it will correct itself within three working days, if not, call back then. What? It dawned on me that this little man helped himself to a 10% tip on my card for a CARRYOUT order. That's where the 82 cents comes from. What a case of THEFT. He probably does okay for himself at the end of the night by CHEATING people. The cooks even bag the food and put it on the counter behind him. All he did was take the bag and ring it up. Needless to say, this will be disputed tomorrow. Also, the food had no taste, and I had to use extra soy sauce from my refrigerator to even give it some taste.
