I have been craving some really, really good authentic Chinese food for a while now, and while I was in the area, I immediately checked Yelp to see what people were saying about this spot. The reviews looked promising, so I called ahead and placed my order. They told me it would be ready in about 10 minutes, which was perfect. I ordered wonton soup, orange chicken, and house fried rice (my favorite because you get the mix of chicken, shrimp, and sometimes pork). I completely forgot to take photos when I first got my food, so the pictures I posted are actually from the leftovers I brought to work the next day for lunch -- which also shows they give solid portion sizes, pretty typical and generous for a Chinese restaurant. The staff was very kind, and one thing I really appreciated was that they had utensils and sauces set out for customers to grab themselves. I feel like a lot of restaurants can be a little stingy with sauces or charge for every extra, so it was refreshing to be able to take what I needed without having to ask. For that alone, I'd give them five stars for customer service. As for the food, it was good -- not bad at all -- but I personally wanted a little more flavor and seasoning. My daughter ordered takeout and the food was ready when I arrived. Everything was freshly cooked and portions were generous. The General Tso's chicken was flavorful but a bit too sweet for my liking. The Triple Szechuan Delight was just okay. Definitely not my favorite, but the House Special Chow Fun was tasty. read more

I'm in town from South Carolina to see family for the weekend. Came by this spot because it was highly rated. I ordered the General Tso's Chicken and some Crab Rangoon. This was, by FAR, THE BEST Chinese food I've had in a VERY long time, possibly ever. Service was fast, I waited MAYBE ten minutes after ordering at the counter. Staff were nice and chill. I have been going to China Chen for years since I moved to Cicero, mainly because I live only a 3 minute drive to it. I always enjoyed the food. Last year I decided to start trying other Chinese take out places that are around the North Syracuse and Cicero area and realized that I didn't care as much for them. Even though all of these Chinese take out places have pretty much the same exact menus with only slight variations, China Chen cooks seem to be able to cook vegetables better and season better. Even in dishes with bean curd, the bean curd is fried and seasoned so as to be appetizing, not repulsive. Veggies are crisp, meat is tender. I used to only order my proven favorites but now I trust their quality enough to randomly pick something off the menu I may not have tried before. So in a land of a thousand Chinese take out storefronts, sometimes it's the small differences that make the biggest impact. read more

My daughter wanted Chinese and this place was on our way home tonight. She had a hankering for steamed dumplings and wonton soup. I walked in and placed an order for those plus buffalo chicken wings. Lady said it'd be ready in 10 minutes. Perfect since we had to pick up some other takeout about 5 minutes away in 15 minutes. We ended up waiting for at this Chinese restaurant for 20 minutes. Double what they said. They ended up being pretty busy those 20 minutes with other takeout orders going out the door and such. If you know your chicken wings take more than 10 minutes don't tell me 10 minutes. Kids in the car were getting antsy and I was getting frustrated, checking back in every few minutes to see if it was ready. Didn't want to miss when it was. Food was nothing special. The only plus is that they are one out of a few Chinese restaurants to offer a Buffalo version of their Chinese wings. They weren't as big as some place's wings, but the sauce was tasty. We ended up being late for our other pickup order at the 2nd place and by the time we got home that wasn't as warm as it should have been had we picked it up on time.
