My buddy and his wife asked me out to dine - I had my heart set on some pho, but when I got here, I had a hankering for vermicelli. I like mine with egg roll AND grilled pork - if you haven't done it, do it - for real. The presentation was different from what I was used to - a flatter, wider bowl, the pork thin sliced, almost julienned, but everything was fresh - crunchy where it was supposed to be, hot and charred/fried when needed, and it really hit the spot. Fish sauce and a generous serving of sriracha, and I was home. Steve's wife got the dumplings, and he had a giant plate of something or other with soup, but he also polished off some of Alicia's food while we were there. I remember this dude from college - I was the fat kid, but I sure couldn't hang with this dude's stomach! Our server was so super awesome and cute, but I forgot to get her name. She couldn't say Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio, but neither could I, so there. Very attentive, got our food out hot and delicious, and was a wonderful host. If you're hankering for some Vietnamese or Chinese food, but can't decide - here's your sign! We were the only table in there and i got the coconut shrimp and i took one bite and it was so cold it tasted like it just thawed out under the lamp from the freezer. And i've never done this before but i couldn't justify eating and spending any money there so we left. That was completely fine with us. What wasn't fine was the way the situation was handled. When I told the hostess that we were willing to wait and asked to be seated, she suggested that we leave instead and said she would come back with the time frame and "hopefully we'll be available." This was especially frustrating considering there were open tables and seats visible, it was cold outside, and we were traveling with two toddlers. We also don't live in the area, so leaving and "hoping" to return wasn't a realistic option. If the kitchen was backed up, that's understandable -- but the lack of accommodation, empathy, or even basic courtesy made us feel unwelcome. First impressions matter, and this experience felt less like managing a wait and more like being brushed off. I can't speak to the food because we never got the chance to try it, but based on customer service alone, I wouldn't recommend this place -- especially to families or out-of-town visitors.
