This entire restaurant needs to be shut down!! Recently moved to the area and it was close and has good reviews. SMH! The moment I walked in I was smacked in the face with the smell of something dead. Perhaps an animal of some sort. I initially thought plumbing or something along those lines but no. The stench was unbearable so I waited outside. I was quoted about 15 min for my order of 3 entrees that was placed over the phone before arriving. I arrived around the allotted time and still was made to wait an additional 20 min. Almost as if they didn't start the order until I was there in person and paid. I understand restaurants have the dining room (which was empty I'm sure due to the smell) to tend to, as well as DoorDash and walking. This was on a Wednesday at 7pm. Not exactly peak times The food was decent but the chicken lo mean was absolutely disgusting. I've never in my life believed the myth about Asians and cats but the smell of the restaurant in addition to the taste of the chicken, it's quite believable now. In hindsight I should've left but I really was hungry and needing to find a new Chinese home. Unfortunately this will not be it! Let's not forget the rude lady behind the counter. Overall a 0/10. Food: I ordered Hunan Chicken which is supposed to be spicy... no spice at all. Fried rice tasted like cardboard. Service: I went on Garlands fair day... one of their teenagers (he usually works at night he said) was my server. Today I placed an order from China City off of I30 and Broadway. The order was for sweet and sour chicken, two vegetable egg rolls and fried rice. After making a stop and then arriving home, I found the fried rice was missing. I called and was told after going back and forth that they will give me one for free, if I return because my order was the only order and "it was in the bag". The big disappointment is that he pretty much accused me of being dishonest. I did tell him that the fried rice was not in the bag and disconnected the call. Inventory control must not being practiced here anymore. Food is going down. Not as fresh as when we started going there. Maybe new ownership . So we went in , ordered $52 worth of food for 3 people. (Our usual order $45). We had 2 $25 visa cards as a gift. So we need 2 cards and a third to pay the 2 bucks. They were going to charge my daughter a fee to process each card. They are fortunate that I didnt pick up the order. I would have let them keep their $52 worth of food. We order 2 to 3 times a month for less than great food, and now we get poor service with added fees. I am looking for another Chinese place. I was lazy bc it is close and food okay. We ordered from door dash and it was alright . We had the lo main and the Rangoons. I probably wouldn't order it again. It wasn't good enough to drive there and there are so many better places to choose from. But, If the choices were slim then I would order it. read more

Just not that good. Egg rolls were meh. Probably the best part though. Crab rangoons had no crab at all, and the cream cheese was very puréed or whatever so it didn't seem right in the consistency. Kung pao chicken: almost all veggies and very little chicken. And the chicken was not good. General tso's chicken was all chicken with a few pieces of broccoli. Also nasty chicken. We couldn't figure out why the chicken was so gross...some pieces looked like dark meat chicken, which I don't like. But he thought maybe it was because they'd left the skin on prior to breading. First and last time ordering from this restaurant I hate to do it but the food was inedible. I ordered sweet and sour chicken with fried rice, the chicken was tough and rubbery. The sweet and sour sauce was nearly orange and had a vinegar like taste to it. I also ordered the California Roll which did not look freshly rolled the crab was cut whole not shredded and the rollstasted fishy and there was no spicy mayo to go with them. I live close so this is my Chinese spot. What I can recommend is the teriyaki chicken on a stick- I crave it more than orange chicken. I have tried the sushi. Its not totally terrible. When I don't want to drive 17 minutes to get some sushi, I call it in here but know it's not gourmet. I wasn't really a fan of the spare ribs or beef noodle soup. A hidden gem in plain sight! Located in an old strip mall, it doesn't look like much on the outside. However, to my amazement inside they are serving up fresh delicious and incredibly affordable Asian cuisine to the masses. Cool looking golden yearbook menus open to an extensive menu. I ordered the roast pork lo-mein which was excellent! Authentic flavors with large nicely cooked chunks of pork. My friend thoroughly enjoyed the sweet and sour chicken. I only give this a one star because I was not allowed to give it zero. I ordered shrimp fried rice, chicken lo mein and egg drop soup. I ordered from home and was charged an extra 4 dollar charge which isn't bad I guess as they did deliver quickly (within 20 minutes). The problem I had was the shrimp fried rice lacked flavor and just tasted like regular white rice. The chicken lo me it wasn't horrible but the chicken was lacking. We've been ordering from here for a while now...and last night's order was our last. First off, the people aren't very nice. Some of the food is really bland - the combination fried rice isn't worth it (dry, no flavor, big chunks of dry beef and chicken, no pork, also didn't chop it up so it was a big lump in the rice). I've had better! The teriyaki chicken however is great, with lots of good veggies. The egg rolls are good. We love the moo shoo chicken and even the orange chicken. Now for the kicker...I packed my partner's lunch last night to take to work today. She found a dead cockroach in her leftovers. Eeeeeek! We've only ever ordered the food for delivery to our home. They have fair prices for good food. I'm not sure why some people complain. They sometimes charge .25-.50 more on my takeouts but my portions are always big so whatever. Several years ago this was a great restaurant. But new owners have ruined it. The place now stinks. The food is bland. The service is slow, at best, and typically non-existant. The sign outside says the lunch special is $4.99, but it is much more than that. Mine was $9.21 with tax and I had water to drink. The $4.99 price was what the previous owners charged years ago and the new owners have not updated the sign. Not recommended. read more

The ironic thing about my visit to this restaurant was I spent a good few minutes ensuring there would be no animal products in the vegetable bean curd - no fish sauce, chicken broth, dairy products, beef bouillon, etc. I didn't ask if there would be a wadded piece of brown bag in my meal. Which there was. It must suck to deserve such a bad review. But this is what happened to me, and I think that's unsafe and gross - yall deserve to know. Also, the entryway DOES smell FOUL. And when I drove back for a refund, (which is pretty inconvenient! This place was horrible. There was a sewage smell upon entering the front door. The staff was both incompetent and very rude. Food was very bland and the fried rice was horrible. It really wasn't even fried rice. The egg roll smelt like it was rotting. I couldn't even try it but we ripped one open and it seems as if they are using out dated product. You practically have to walk through the kitchen just to get to the bathrooms. Wasn't surprised to find those dirty as well. I don't even want to think about how dirty the kitchen is going to be. I am just hoping this food doesn't make me sick. The music was obnoxiously loud and didn't even make sense. Pretty sure they just went to Walmart and bought the cheapest cd they could find. I was wanting sushi tonight and wanted it delivered, so we tried this place. Never again. This is so freaking nasty. I read lots of reviews, but rarely make one, but I feel I need to warn people. First, we ordered the volcano roll. It's a California roll with a thick layer of mayonnaise on top. Not spicy mayo, no scallops, not even baked like the menu says. SO GROSS. We also ordered the caterpillar roll, the Emily roll, and the eel cucumber avocado roll. It was all so nasty. This is the worse sushi I've ever, ever had. We did not finish it; I feel sick. Just picked up A Philadelphia Roll, Shrimp Tempura Roll, and the 2 piece Eel sushi. As someone who has worked in higher end Dallas restaurants, I think the very poor reviews were wrongfully given, especially of the sushi. I have eaten at some of the most expensive high end to hole in the wall sushi restaurants. For the price and location the quality was quite good! Let's be real, there are very few places in Garland to get sushi at all, let alone decent. Was driving home from my moms in Rockwall back to arlington and wanted chinese we decided to stop off the highway at china city and im in love . We ordered sweet and sour chicken and crab rangoons. The amount of chicken (white meat may i add) they give you is enough to feed 3 people and it had diced peppers and pineapple to give it a great flavor. I would rate them 10 stars. Two words: FOOD POISONING! And we aren't talking just an upset stomach, we are talking 20 plus trips to the bathroom between my husband and I, a trip to the emergency room for fluids and anti-nausea meds, and having to call into work for 2 days..food poisoning. I called to tell the restaurant what had happened and before even listening they insisted that we call their insurance company to file a claim if we would like a refund. I found this absolutely ridiculous considering in multiple other reviews this establishment states that if the food is not satisfactory you can bring it back for a refund, this option was not offered to us. Additionally the woman who I spoke to was very rude and rather than offering a refund or giving me the phone number of the insurance company she had mentioned, she yelled profanity and hung up on me. Had they just heard me out I probably would not have even wrote this review but thanks to the rude staff we will be taking the matter up the insurance agency they offered for the cost of the food, medical bills and time missed from work. PLEASE! do not order food from this establishment. You will more than likely regret it and if it ends up like our situation, it will cost you greatly as well.
