Umi sushi is my husband and I's favorite place to get sushi. Every staff member at Umi is so kind from the minute you walk into the door to when you sign your bill. They have the BEST rolls for outstanding prices. The quality of their sushi is unmatched. We brought 10 fiends with us one evening and Umi was able to accommodate all of us with smiles on their faces. We also LOVE Umi sushi and will forever be one of our favorites!!!

Parking: Lots of free self-parking. Interior: Small but cozy and clean inside. Service: Attentive waitstaff. Food: Delicious and fresh! I ordered a chirashi bowl (came with miso soup), yellowtail roll and tuna inari sushi. Good portions too! Drinks: Sapporo beer paired well with my meal! Overall: I would definitely come back here! Two thumbs up from me!

Tried the Udon Carbonara and it tasted so creamy. Next time I come here I want to try the sushi. The interior of the restaurant was very intimate and beautifully decorated.

The bento box isn't on the weekend menu, I was told they can do it, but I'd get charged 5.00 extra, well that's fine, I wanted to try their bento box. The side salad had an unusual taste but it was delicious. The miso soup was at the perfect temperature and it tasted good. The ambiance is a cozy little sushi place, that seems to invite both the sit down customers and those that prefer take out.

I've been going to Umi for years! Every single time I order from here, my food is always excellent and always meets my expectations. The location itself is fairly small like most plaza sushi restaurants but whenever we do eat here, the service is always great. Almost always we take the sushi for takeout. The food travels very well. They ventilate the boxes for the fried rolls so they maintain its crispiness. Then rolls are filling and worth the value! A majority of their rolls are a variation of the California roll. Their California roll is excellent quality so no matter how you order it, you'll be happy with the result. Umi, you'll always have my business. Keep up the great work!

Fresh food, good portions, good service. It's Monday night so we didn't have to wait for table. It's a small restaurant so I can imagine it will be packed every weekend.

Grabbed some Umi through a delivery app during the rainstorm last week because I had a craving for some delicious ramen. I had to give it 3 stars specifically because the flavors fell a bit flat. Especially in comparison to others in Dallas. The Las Vegas sushi roll however was delicious! We also ordered the karaage and one other roll I can't remember the name of. Why 3 stars? The pricing is a tad wild in my opinion. We spent over $100 for 2 sushi rolls, 3 different kinds of ramen, and 1 karaage app. It just didn't make sense for a quick lunch that didn't give me exactly what I was craving. Will I go back and try it fresh in person? 100%.

Overall: 4.7/5 [dine in]…read more Our sushi chef was Jayden and he was so nice. He checked in with us throughout the meal to make sure everything tasted good, offered to cut our hand rolls in half so we could share, and even gave us a salmon belly on the house. Black Cod Nigiri ($6): Best bite of the night and it was on the seasonal menu. It was cooked and I'm not sure what they did to it, but it was absolutely phenomenal. Salmon Truffle Ponzu ($18): My second favorite dish of the night. The salmon was super fresh and the truffle ponzu elevated the whole thing. Scallop Foie Gras ($24): Beautiful presentation and good but surprisingly not as flavorful as the salmon truffle ponzu. I was expecting more umami from the foie gras. Salmon Belly Toro Nigiri ($16): Salmon belly with fatty toro topped with ikura. Delicious and melts in your mouth. Toro Wagyu Uni Nigiri ($22): Fatty tuna, A5 wagyu beef, and uni nigiri. My husband thought it was fun to eat, but said he would not order it again. Nodoguro Nigiri ($13): I looked this up, and it's apparently a rare high end deep sea fish from Japan known as the toro of white fish. Based purely on taste though, I thought it was okay and did not compare to the salmon belly. Kanpachi Cherry Blossom ($6.50): A pretty rosy pink color with a subtle cherry blossom flavor. Okay in terms of taste compared to the other fishes we had. Ami Ebi Nigiri ($10): The sweet shrimp was a bit too raw for me. Crab Uni Butter Nigiri ($12): I did not really taste the difference between the uni infused butter and regular butter so I am not sure it is worth the price, though it was still good. Snow Crab Handroll ($7): So much better than imitation crab. Recommend out of all the handrolls we tried. Eel Handroll ($7.50): Not my favorite but my husband said it was one of the best eel he has ever had. Lobster Handroll ($12): Good but nothing special. Volcano Roll ($28): This took the longest to make and was the last item we received even though we saw them start preparing it at the beginning of the meal. The presentation was beautiful and Jayden even sprayed gold on it for our photo and video. It comes with snow crab, avocado, lobster, and bay scallop topped with eel sauce and was really yummy with lots of seafood. The only downside was that the roll underneath broke apart easily which made it hard to eat. Fresh Wasabi Root ($10): We watched them grind the wasabi fresh which was cool to see. It doesn't have a kick to it though so I wouldn't order it again since I like a tiny bit of spiciness. Matcha Mojito ($15): Not for me. It had a bit too much club soda. Yuzu Saketini ($15): I liked this one more than the matcha mojito. The yuzu flavor was prominent and it kind of reminded me of a Lemon Drop.

I want to extend a huge shout-out to our waiter, Vivian, for giving us insight on the food and bars/places to check around in Dallas! She went above and beyond :) Miso soup with silky tofu was delicious, they balanced out the yellow miso well with a hint of (maybe) crate-barrelled? For the nigiri I had the fatty tuna, a5 wagyu, and king salmon. They were all absolutely delicious and warped me to Japan. I was reminded of the same quality and taste - which checks out since they import their fish from Japan! The special kome roll was so delicious I ate it very slowly to savor every bite and memory of sushi in Japan. For dessert I had the deep fried cheesecake - I think the last time I had this I was 12 at Mr. sushi in Boston and all my memories came back. Grapes were too big though but everything else A+ The matcha tonic - I can't find it online but it was an incredible balance of fizzy, sweetness and matcha. The complexity of the drink makes me want to try more!

To dissect the Chicken Teriyaki Bento: the chicken teriyaki had a nice flavor and wasn't dry (which is a pet-peeve of mine), the salad had a nice, citrusy dressing that just opens up your sinuses, and the gyoza was very juicy. A very filling meal, to say the least. The Unagi Don was delectable, with every bite a creamy and umami mix. Then, the "I Love You" roll literally just melted in your mouth. Service: No complaints! Making an order mistake is one thing, but making the customer pay twice to correct your own error is completely unacceptable. Which was crazy, so we thought our food would be coming out freaky fast like Jimmy John's as well. Service was very good, Rachel gave us great recs. But here is where the evening turned, and why Yuzu at best deserves 3 stars. My entree eventually came out, but it was without my wife's entree from the sushi bar. My entree sat on the table for 10+ minutes before the sushi entree was finally delivered. Made mention twice about the wait to our waitress. Service went downhill- like she was trying to avoid us. When the bill came, I fully expected to be comped at least an app. The only explanation we were given by our waitress was "I can't control when the kitchen food is ready if the sushi bar is behind." I'm not looking for an excuse-for a $200 bill the plates should have been brought out together. The food was amazing though. Maybe we just order it to go next time.
