My family was more than disappointed in our experience at this restaurant today. Half of the restaurant was stacked with boxes, and equipment and was a complete mess. The service was very slow and there were hardly any lights on in the restaurant. The food came out quickly but clearly was not cooked fresh. It was not hot and the fried food was not crisp. The wontons were stale and so were the fortune cookies. When we went to use the restroom, there were no lights on in the back and we used the lights from our phones to find the restroom. The server came over and turned on the lights. The back area of the restaurant was filthy. The floors in the hallway were gross and the bathroom looked like it hadn't been cleaned in long time. We remember going to this restaurant a few years ago when there was a buffet. It used to be busy and clean and the lights used to be on. I don't know what happened but we will never go back. It has become one of those restaurants you see on Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares. I hate to post bad reviews for small businesses trying to make a living, but the owners should honestly be ashamed of themselves. read more

Friendly, quick take out service with excellent food at reasonable prices. Definitely my favorite in the Midcoast.

Maybe it was the time of day. We did dine in rather than take out. There was one other couple at a table. The place felt like it was shutdown. Dark and dismal. They were doing a booming takeout business though. We had sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice and chicken teryiaki strips. There was no duck sauce. No hot mustard. No tea offered. The only drinks were canned soda and bottled water. For utensils, we received one fork a piece with one ultra thin paper napkin. We asked for extra napkins and each got one more ultra thin paper napkin. The food was mediocre at best. The best part was the sweet and sour chicken. The rest was bleh. read more

For mid-coast Maine Chinese, the food is decent... about 3 stars in quality. That is really all that can be said for this strip-mall-located low-rent place with terrible service. The buffet looked very sparse when we entered in the early afternoon, and I'm always nervous about the hot/cold status of buffet foods anyway, so we ordered from the menu. The food was decent. There were three of us at the table, but the waiter only brought two waters and two teacups. What's that about? Was one of us invisible? When this was called to his attention, he just shrugged and brought another water and teacup. He also just dropped plates on the table rudely, never checked on us to see how we were doing and never refilled tea, soda or water. We asked if the waiter was new on the job, and were told that he'd been there about a year. Apparently hasn't learned much about service in that time. The restroom had water on the floor and no paper towels in the dispenser. Cartons full of food and other supplies are stacked up in full view of the customers near the back of the restaurant. read more

Food was mediocre at best. Chicken in meals was dry in the middle and soggy on the outside. They had good duck sauce. Horrible crab rangoons! The middle was curdled with a sour taste and very little added to each Rangoon before very lightly fried without even a letting it brown. Any price would have been too much. read more

This is the best consistent American Chinese food in the area. They have all of your traditional American influenced dishes, along with some nice seafood and sushi selections. Nothing to write home about, even still it tastes good and rarely disappoints. read more

The waiter was rude and tried to up sell $2-$5 for extra duck sauce. The food was borderline cooked. Rice was cold, general tso chicken soggy cold undercooked, Crab Rangoon were opposite of crunch and looked rotten. Waste of $30. Saw this place while shopping at the local Shaw's and stopped in for a late lunch (3:30 pm). Because the buffet was closed (closes at 3pm), we ordered two lunch specials. The portion sizes were very generous and included pork fried rice and a very large egg roll. There was more than enough to take home for a second helping. read more

This is the only Chinese restaurant in the area where the food quality has not declined. My opinions on the food vary depending on the meal. I cant say any of the food is bad, but not all of it is great either. I believe that most patrons would be satisfied with their dining experience. The food is fairly quick and plentiful. You will not feel ripped off by the portions. The wait staff has always been very pleasant to me and i have never felt neglected. My only complaints are with the fried rice being a bit overpowered by the onions and the spare ribs are often pretty tough and fatty, but i love the ribs from the buffet and wish there was a way to order the ribs in buffet form. China coast is definitely my go to restaurant for Chinese cuisine. read more

First, the food was very good and the staff were polite. The reason I am only giving two stars is because I feel the pricing is dishonest and very high. After being told that I couldn't sub noodles for rice with any of the dishes, I asked if we could get two sides of rice noodles to go with our curries. The waiter said yes, and then asked my husband if he would like white or fried rice (a very regular question at Chinese restaurants). He said fried. The food arrived and was very good. The sides of rice noodles had little pieces of broccoli in them. Even my son enjoyed his food. The bill was shocking. They charged my husband $2 extra dollars for choosing fried rice. The two sides of rice noodles were $10.95 each! My curry only cost around $8. And, none of this was on the menu, nor did our server tell us about it. Yes, I expected a cost for the sides of noodles...but not more than my main dish. I have never been charged for choosing fried rice at any Asian restaurant. I thought there must have been a mistake, so I talked to the manager and was told there was no mistake. We ended up paying much more than it was worth and much more than we expected. I did tell them that extra charges should be put on the menu so they did not surprise people. The food was good, though, so if you go, ask about all prices up front, on whatever choices they offer. If you do not have to worry about budgeting your money, you can just go and enjoy. We, however, are on a budget, and our experience was so negative, that we will not be back. read more
