the place was very clean n tiddy as always i heard. we were seated very quickly by the hostess. won ton soup could have been hotter. sampled hot n sour, egg drop soups-they were ok but a least hotter than mine. the lunch specials were reasonably priced, although up charge of $1 for all white meat on chicken dishes. lemon chicken was served hot, thankfully i ordered lemon sauce on side, as it was very sweat w/ chunks of pineapple. the chow cho was fresh n tasty. received a large portion of fried rice. shrimp kew was tasty w/ lots of shrimp but very bland n some chewy. mandarin chicken was good but sauce had too much corn starch in it. however, when sauce hot it was gravy like, but when it started to cool the spoon could stand up in it, looked like a shaking bowl of jello n became too thick & tasteless. the service was great and accomdating. the overall dinning experience was fair to good. perhaps will give this place another try, but i've had better oriental food on the westbank, nothing real special bout this place although it is popular,dont know why considering what we had. restroom was small n cramped ,not too clean-- took forever to get hot water, not much soup around nor paper towels provided, restroom needs major updating & overhaul. rating: 2 1/2 -3 stars read more

Crag Rangoon is the best here hands down. The take out service can be quite ridiculous. 9 out of 10 times I call to place the order, they will wait til I come then make it. It defeats the purpose when I sit and wait 30 minutes. read more

My husband and his family have came here forever (since they opened!!) and they love it. They also love Theresa (the best waitress) and we always ask for her. I've only been twice, but my main dish has never impressed me. The first time I ordered general tso and it wasn't good at all. The second time I ordered combination like mein and the shrimp tasted old- and the other meats weren't very good. Guess I'll be trying other things since my in laws love this place. read more

Hands down this is the best Chinese restaurant there is!! Crab rangoons are the best I've had and the empress Lomein is loaded with meat. Definitely won't disappoint. We have been coming here for over 20 years. This is definitely a place worth driving to. read more

I usually like China Doll. Today must have been an off day. Food not good at all today

My best friend and I decided to go to China Doll as we have done many times before. We always have enjoyed eating there because the food is good. Every time we walk in there is an older Asian lady who is the hostess/ manager, she is NOT FRIENDLY OR POLITE. My friend and I both work in the service industry, so we both know about customer service. Well on the day in question we had both finished our meal and decided we were going to drink some hot tea, we bring our on tea because it's a special green tea that China Doll does not have. We ordered 2 cups of hot water. The mean old Asian lady charged us $3.50 for hot water, and she told the server to tell us if we had a problem with it come see her. We paid the bill and left, we were contemplating confronting her but decided against it. But we will never return there again. I have never heard of charging people for water. I have witnessed this lady to be RUDE with customers on several occasions. read more

China Doll has been around for a very long time. It is located in a strip mall right on Manhattan Boulevard. Parking in China Doll is somewhat difficult. There are a lot of potholes in the parking lot. Also, China Doll is located in a strip mall so it shares the parking lot with other stores. This means that you would have to fight for parking space. When you walk in China Doll, the environment is very dim and there was soft music playing in the background. The restaurant looks like it needs to be fixed up a little bit since it looks slightly dirty and the ceiling does not look that great. During lunch hours, the restaurant is very busy and is noisy. The decoration is average for a Chinese restaurant. The wait time at China Doll was about ten minutes during lunch hours. The seating in the restaurant was ok. The food at China Dolls is definitely better than some Chinese restaurant in the area. First of all, the cook gives you huge portions for your meal. For the appetizer, cho cho and the crab rangoon taste delicious. The cho cho is filled with meat and the wrap is crispy. Though, after awhile the wrap will get soggy. The cho cho still retains its flavor. The crab rangoon is very crispy, creamy, and just full of goodness. The same thing also happens with the cho cho is that the wrap gets soggy over time, but is still able to retain the flavor. Though, the crab rangoon is much better than the cho cho in my opinion. The fruit punch at China Doll is really fruity and sweet. They are very skimpy on the fruit punch and you do not get any refills on it either. The cup the fruit punch is served in is skinnier than the rest of the other cups that the sodas were in. For the main course, I ordered the General Tso chicken. When I got my meal, I got a huge portion. The portion was huge enough that I was able to eat the leftovers twice for dinner. The chicken is very sweet and has a light spicy taste to it. I also got to try the Lo Mien from a friend. The Empress Lo Mein is fried noodles topped with chicken, beef, pork, mushrooms, and veggies. The noodles were slightly greasy. Other than that, the Empress Lo Mein was very delicious. The fried rice is just average fried rice. It was not bad, but there was nothing special about it. The sweet and sour chicken was also average. The rice is plain and nothing special. The chicken was also average. It was actually below par with some other sweet and sour chicken I tasted at other Chinese restaurants. The staff is very friendly and very helpful. They are attentive and always ask if you need anything else. Their uniform goes with the Chinese theme the restaurant is going for. Overall I would go to back if I had a feeling to eat Chinese food. Had a really bad experience at China Doll tonight and won't be going back. My husband and I have eaten at this restaurant for years. Almost always, we eat in the restaurant, but I went to get a take-out order tonight because my husband isn't feeling well. Before I ordered, I was told I hadn't paid yet. I explained I hadn't even ordered yet. They then presented me with a bill and said I hadn't paid in full the last time I was there with my husband. We always pay the bill and tip in cash. If the waitress is taking a long time to come back, we'll leave the cash on the table if we have the exact amount. This is what we did the last time we were there, as we have countless times over the years. I explained that we had left the full amount as we always do. Three staff people, including a cashier, were insisting that they hadn't collected the full amount. I told them that I have no idea what happened to the money between the table where we left it and the cashier, but we paid in full. The amount we left also included a tip. What I decided to do, in the face of unpleasantness from several people, was to pay the approximately ten dollars they were demanding, but not to place the order I intended to place and not to go back to China Doll. We have given them a large amount of money over the years. Because of the way they chose to handle this, they have ten dollars that we didn't owe them, but they have lost hundreds of dollars in future business. Right now, I'm regretting all the money we've spent there over all these years. I suggest, if you go there and want to pay in cash, stay there until you hand the waitress the money - no matter how long you sit and wait for her to come pick it up - because otherwise you, too, may be accused of not paying. read more
