I live nearby, so I went twice recently. I've heard that their Chinese menu is better, but I've only ordered off the regular menu, which comes with an egg roll (and it's pretty good). I got the empress pork, which was fried and covered in a thick red sauce (would not try again) and the Szechuan chicken, which was alright. It's quite a strange vibe in there, with lots of hand written signage about people stealing food. If you want authentic and delicious, I may try somewhere else. I tried China Food recently and was really impressed! I started with the crab Rangoon, which they make in-house, and it was excellent--crispy, creamy, and easily some of the best I've had. For my main dish, I went with the Mongolian beef. It was packed with flavor and cooked just right. My friend had the vegetable Lo Mein and really enjoyed it too--lots of veggies and great taste. Now, the décor isn't anything fancy--it's a little worn and dated--but honestly, the food makes up for it. The server took great care of us, checking in just enough without being overbearing. While there weren't a lot of diners in the restaurant it seems to do a lot of carry out business. With the University of Cincinnati so close by, this might be the reason. All in all, this place is a hidden gem. The food is delicious, the service is great, and I definitely plan on coming back often. read more

Spicy marinated cucumber with garlic (3.5/5) - Fresh cucumber marinated with spicy and garlic sauce. Not too spicy. - It's a good appetiser if you want more veggies in your meals. 2. Oyster Pancake (4/5) - egg pancake with oyster and some veggies in it - This reminds me of the oyster pancake I tried in Taiwan!! It's crispy outside and soft & chewy inside. 3. This place was my go to in college with the $7.95 lunch specials. Whenever I come back into town, I still go back here to eat. The owners are sweet and the hardest workers. I see them there every time I come in or pick up to go. My favorites are their braised pork and egg and the salt and pepper pork tenderloin. OMG! I can not stress enough on how awful and a rip off this place was. Please dont waste you money, calories or taste buds on this dump. This is my favorite restaurant in the city of Cincinnati. First things first. ONLY eat from the Authentic Chinese Menu. They have your standard American Chinese menu but its not where this place shines. On their authentic menu you will get a wide variety of choice and each dish is made with care. I am a huge fan of the Braised Pork with Egg and the Chili Fish. The staff are all extremely kind and enjoy when people are interested in the food. Worst. Meal. Ever. Just ordered this via UberEats, and it was so bad I had to jump on Yelp and leave a review here, too. I had a very simple order, and some very clear problems: 1.) Shrimp Toast: no real complaints here other than the order was left in the fryer too long and the came out super-dark and drenched in oil; 2.) Shrimp Roll: is basically a cabbage roll with no shrimp inside. The roll was sitting in a pool of grease in its container, and it literally dripped when I pulled it from the paper sleeve. I tried to dry it out with paper towels, and decided that was too much effort after only one bite. 3.) Shrimp Fried Rice: What a joke. I literally have a 2lb container of old/overcooked rice, and like 3 shrimp sitting in the corner of the dish. I am not sure why the ratings are so low for this place. It's been my to for the last 3 years. Try the Bean Curd if you want something with tofu and veggies. The brown sauce is perfect. The shrimp fried rice is tasty. Add some egg foo young on top and it'll satisfy your taste buds. The beef and broccoli is also super tasty if you want something pretty traditional. Again, it wasn't awful, but I have definitely had better from other places around here. The pot stickers were good but again kinda bland. And the dough seemed thicker than it should have been. We finally tried because our friends strongly recommended it. The food was really good and surprisingly authentic. People work there are so nice. This restaurant becomes one of our favorite spot for authentic Chinese food. I ordered chicken and broccoli with a side of large rice, chicken lo mein and 3 egg rolls. I even paid extra for extra fortune cookies. The food took about 50mins from the time I placed my order to arrive at my doorstep. The plus side: it was piping hot, and I got a million and 5 fortune cookies. Only down side was that the chicken lo mein looked over cooked and was extremely dry. The chicken and broccoli was fine but very bland, could have used some more seasoning. The rice was fantastic.
