Food comes in smaller portions with a greater price. I ordered the General Tso's Tofu (same batter and sauce for the chicken), and consistently the food came soggy, sticking together, and flavorless. If you want want plain tofu or chicken and rice, go to the store... Dining in: Maybe. The food is good dining in. It's crispy, good portions, and it has flavor. However, the service is strange. The waitresses stare and anytime you look back to acknowledge the staring, they come with an apologetic persona and it makes a diner feel uncomfortable. Also, the unannounced and inconsistent chips as a complimentary pre meal appetizer needs to stop. It's awkward. The place also needs to be deep cleaned and the windows need to be open to let in some light during the day. Food is good dining in but weird service. Never recommend delivery service. read more

A real disappointment. Kung Pao chicken was ok. Cold sesame were the worst I've ever had - sauce was not good, and was sweet (which is odd to say the least) and the noodles were heavy and inedible. Threw those away. The spring rolls were ok but small. I could done as well if I bought from the frozen food section of a grocery. Yuk. Just got introduced to this place by a friend this year. Its definitely out of my way but worth the drive. I'm a huge fan of their beef lo mein--i get the large. It's ALOT. I went here for the first time last night with some friends and it was great! We were seated very quickly and our drink order was taken fast. We got fried wontons which were served hot and were incredibly tasty (I could have eaten a whole meal of them!) As for dinner, two of us went for the dinner combinations and size of the meals were huge! I got the orange chicken dinner plate which was a little spicy but didn't hurt my stomach. The waitress was very nice and checked up on us often- and she was quick with the refills! The only issue I had was that my soda was warm (I don't like drinks with ice) but my friends soda was perfectly cold (even without ice). They also do takeout and have a parking lot! I just left this place and I wanted something for lunch. This was not my first time here, but it will be my last. I will not tolerate cold food and rubbery shrimp for a meal. I ordered the lunch special sweet and sour shrimp with fried rice. First red flag...the food came out in a few minutes and it was cold. The waiter came back by my table towards the end of my meal and I told him the shrimp was rubbery. He basically brushed it off and said that that shrimp usually is rubbery.....okay thats not good i explained and he continued to laugh and brush it off. China food is a solid choice. The staff is great and the food is reliable. They have incredibly affordable lunch and dinner specials. I would recommend ordering from their Chinese menu as well. On the special dinner and lunch menu, I think my favorite thing so far is the beef with eggplant and garlic. I also love to order one of their large soups with an egg roll to ease the pain of a possible hangover, or the physical reeling from the death grip of winter. Maybe both! The driver who delivered my food two days ago called my phone twice at 6am this morning to tell me he wants to eat my pussy. His number was still in my phone from when he brought me my food, so it's definitely the same driver. I even left that guy a $10 tip due to the pandemic. I am livid. Food is fantastic for Americanized Chinese. Prices are good and portions are large. It is one of the better Chinese places on the west side of Cincinnati. I have not been here many times, but the General Tso's chicken is great, especially if you order it extra spicy. The rangoons are great too. Why, Angela, why, you may ask. Why would you give four stars to this seemingly dingy Chinese restaurant randomly sitting in the intersection of McMillan, Fairview, and Ravine? Where a random lady might roll in and say loudly, "Hey, y'all got them Chinese donuts?!" I could be crazy, maybe. Maybe. Here's a secret: ordering off the special Chinese section of the menu. There are not many places in Cincinnati that I know of where I can order pork and bamboo shoots- like the for real Chinese kind with the bamboo shoots that are... well, literally, shoots. None of that chopped/sliced nonsense. And they will make it spicy for you if you ask. Also, the Shanghai thick noodle is allegedly made from their own homemade noodles (from their appearance, I am assuming they are hand-pulled). Really tasty. We've never really ventured to ordering the Americanized Chinese dishes and probably never will. Ok, fine, caveat: this probably is most fairly a carryout/take-out review. This is our go-to when we want cheap, somewhat greasy Chinese. I'm sorry, but some days I just really enjoy it. We only dined in the restaurant once a couple years ago, and it has all the trimmings of a Chinese restaurant that was actually fancy in its heyday but has faded a bit due to lack of dine-in customers, which really is too bad. Either way, they are still getting by, and for that, I am thankful! In sum, this isn't a 4 stars for some fancy, lovely dining experience. It's a 4 stars for having some real Chinese food, non-fancy and satisfying in a way only this kind of Chinese food can be. I guess for the type of expectations I have for China Food, it is a 4. We get delivery pretty often, and they are always polite on the phone, deliver very fast compared to most places in Clifton, and they have a credit card reader attached to their phone when they deliver the food! Don't let the vague and nondescript name of China Food steer you wrong; speedy delivery with a plethora of fortune cookies and extra sauces are just the tip of the iceberg with this local Chinese joint. I always get Mongolian Beef from China Food but mix it up with the accompanying dishes. The crab rangoons, pot stickers, and beef lo mein are all delicious options and don't forget the Chinese donuts for dessert - ridiculously tasty. Authentic Chinese food in an assuming place close to the UC campus, and the people running this place know what they're doing! Well, maybe you'll think that way if you order off the authentic menu obviously (make sure to request the authentic menu for the full experience!) I am sad that this place does not have at least a 4 star rating which I think is because of the lack of knowledge on authentic Chinese cuisine, or that most customers order off the Americanized menu instead of the authentic one. I said this in my previous reviews and I'm going to say it again, I'm an Asian American from California spoiled by good Asian food who evaluates everything in Cincinnati extremely harshly based off of California standards and who also refuses to lower his expectations! Even when ordering off the authentic menu it may not be the fanciest food items you get compared to other high end Chinese restaurants that also serves authentic stuff, but it's still great food at fair prices, and it's still the kind of food I would be happy to have at a Chinese New Year feast or a birthday celebration. I ordered delivery for my boyfriend and I; they said it would take 30 minutes, but they were definitely at my apartment in less than 20. In no unflattering terms, this is place a real oddity. Situated as a stand alone restaurant well out off the main row of restaurants near UC and with a name that's as unimaginative as it gets, China Foods somehow manages to be the best Chinese joint around campus, if not much of Cincinnati proper, and I mean this in very relative terms. If I was to hold it to higher standards, I just might tear them a new one, but since authenticity is in such short supply here, China Foods gets some quick and easy bonus points. Sorry Queen City- best Chinese in Cincinnati still doesn't say much. Still, like others before have said, having a menu in Chinese towards the last few pages was a big plus, and if you play your cards right, you can probably end up with a fairly satisfying meal at a reasonable price. For those who can't read Chinese, there are also English translations. The space itself is clean and everything seems rather new. I was glad that the place lacks the telltale decorations found at most Chinese restaurants here that make me feel like I'm stuck in the early 90s. We had the peking style ribs which is a closer approximation to what sweet and sour pork actually should be, although it is a dish in it's own right. As far as I'm concerned, its ok to blur those lines here and China Foods does a decent rendition- a slightly sticky sweet and tangy sauce with fried pork chops that are lightly battered. We also had the shredded pork with bamboo shoots, which was pretty fragrant and full on with flavor with a good medley of mushrooms, spring onions and nice big thick cut bamboo shoots. To round out the meal, we also had what I guess would translate to stir fried thick rice noodles with a "broken egg" gravy. The shrimp that came with it were nice and large and surprisingly fresh (by which I really mean not old tasting, which seems the rule rather than the exception around these parts). All in all, it's not nearly the best nor the most refined, but it's a good standby that's near campus and serves up some pretty okay comfort food for the the homesick Asian. read more

I always liked it, and the lunch special couldn't be beat, but after years of getting it pounded into my head that China Food was better, I gave in. I am not sure I got the meal from the same place as everyone else. While the food was decent, it was far from superior to King Wok(which is pretty standard for Chinese) and I was pretty disappointed in the Crab Rangoon. ****BEWARE**** This place robbed us!!!!! They charged us $20 for food for two people: two egg rolls and two meals: one order of Chicken Fried Rice and an order of Sesame Chicken with White Rice (Broccoli added). However, the driver only gave us the two egg rolls, and an order of Sesame Chicken with Fried Rice instead of the two meals we ordered! I tried to call them back to remedy it, but when I told the people on the phone - who barely spoke English at all - that there was some kind of misunderstanding, he accused me of "not explaining myself clearly" EVEN THOUGH THEY CHARGED US FOR THE TWO MEALS THAT WE ACTUALLY ORDERED. I insisted they bring the other meal and the white rice which they had already accepted my money for, but they said I needed to pay them to come back, and then they hung up on me!
