New cooks today. They were both very pleasant & accommodating. I had the shrimp chow mein. Teriyaki chicken on a stick and H&S soup. Soup was delicious i would prefer less mushrooms & more Tofu. Shrimp was the best ive had there. It was not just filled with cabbage. It also had onions, soy beans and celery I could actually see. The chicken was overcooked making it gummy. Or, maybe they cooked it at two high a temp. I think they may have prepared it in advance to save prep time. This made the Teriyaki sauce dry & salty. Chicken can be very tricky to get the correct moist texture. I would suggest trying a fresher prep. We did toss ours but, I be willing to try it again down the road. BTW please try a different company for the duck sauce packets. They tasted weird. read more

Recently ordered delivery from here. Very Disappointing. First delivery was over 25 minutes later than quoted. Food was cold and overall unappetizing. We ordered a Combination D, Pepper Steak & Onion Combo and Cheese Wonton appetizer. Total order including tips over $40.00. The Combo D was almost $16.00 by itself and was supposed to be of 2pcs Beef teriyaki, 2 jumbo shrimp, very small portion of boneless spare ribs, pork fried rice. Teriyaki was dry and NO Teryiaki flavor whatsoever. Shrimp were small, NOT Jumbo + Overcooked, maybe 6-10 pcs boneless ribs which were OK. Plenty of rice, but then how much does rice cost? Combo Pepper Steak---Steak was chewy and hard to eat. Sauce was bland and flavorless. Peppers and onions were cooked well. Platter was supposed to have egg roll included. Not received. The Cheese Wonton was the best part of the meal. Next time I'm in the mood for Chinese food, I'll stick to my tried and true places in Clifton, NJ. read more

My first time ordering from China Garden and I was very impressed. I haven't ordered vegetable lo mein in awhile because I am never pleased with the preparation. Since I had never ordered from China Garden I decided to order the lo mein and give it a try. It was the best I have had in years that Mott Street in NYC style oriental cuisine I had long ago. I also ordered a specialty dish which was a top shelf dish for me lately, flavor, very good shrimp, fresh vegetables in a lite sauce The Lake Ting Tung Shrimp. The taste is great, but the side portions are strangely packaged/small. It's a business so I get it, cutting corners. The general tso tasted great but lacked adequate broccoli. I am giving the rating for the delivery service, not the food. I always typically order on Grubhub and when they ask for the tip, I put in one dollar from my credit card and end up tipping the rest in cash when my food gets to me to ensure it goes to the delivery driver! When I opened the door for my food, before I could even reach for the cash tip, the driver rudely handed my food and made a comment about my $1 tip. Needless to say, he stormed away and did not get my cash tip. Again, my rating is not based on the food but purely on the rudeness I just encountered. read more

My go to Chinese restaurant since the place is so close to me. I usually get the shrimp and broccoli with the brown sauce or the curry sauce, or I'll get pork fried dumplings. They are pretty inexpensive. And they have great lunch specials and you're sometimes eligible for a free canned soda based on the amount you spend or if you go during lunch hours. What turned me off about this place is I saw one of the chefs go to the bathroom, heard him flesh the toilet but did not hear any sink water come on for him to wash his hands! He just went straight to the back with the food again. That was such a turn off. Stopped by here while hiking the Lenape Trail from Newark (it runs right past this Chinese restaurant). We ordered a pork lomein and a vegetable lomein since we need the calories. While it was a little more oily than I would have liked, it was really tasty. Would like to try some of their other entrees for the following reasons: - No MSG - They still have entrees that come in the old school quart containers which I love. (They also seam larger than those new plastic containers a lot of places use.) - Fairly inexpensive. - We received a free egg roll with I think a 10$ purchase? (Maybe it was 15$.) Make sure to ask for it, otherwise they will just tell you to grab a free soda on your way out the door. read more

I've lived in bloomfield for the last 2 years searching for a Chinese food place that was decent. Me and my boyfriend have ordered from here a couple of times and it was okay. We decided to give it another shot tonight and I think it's safe to say we won't be ordering from here anymore. We ordered our chicken well done and extra crispy and it we got it soggy. Plus we asked for white meat and most of it was dark meat. Then I ordered the shrimp and broccoli and it was completely tasteless. We ordered steamed dumplings and they did not give us any of the dipping sauce for it. And they also did not give ANY fortune cookies. Meh. That about sums it up. My husband and I ordered the hot and spicy chicken and the general Tso's chicken, as well as the cheese wontons. The general tso's was well cooked but the sauce was so boring. It literally had no taste! This is a staple in any American Chinese restaurant and it was a total fail. The hot and spicy chicken had way too many onions, not enough chicken and wasn't spicy at all. However, the cheese wontons were IMO very good. I think if the owners could just get their sauces and spices right, this would be my go to Chinese place. If they do, I'll be back. read more

I love the food here! My husband and I moved in the area over a year ago and it has been a struggle to find good delivery places. I'm from NYC so I'm a food snob and he's from England so he doesn't know what good food is. Kidding... sort of. He's ordered the General Tso's chicken and said it was average. He likes the sweet and sour chicken but it wasn't so different from any other place. We like the iced tea but, again, it doesn't stand out from any other place. The stand out item for me is the Tai Chi chicken! Crispy chunks of chicken in brown sauce with sliced mushroom, broccoli, green pepper, baby corn, snap peas. It is listed as a spicy item but I ask for mild spice and that is what I get. Really delicious and not something you find on every menu! They do have a few unique things on their Chef Specials. Prices are so reasonable and they have free items depending on how much is spent. Delivery is fast and we aren't exactly next door - we order from Clifton. They are also happy to leave out the scallions and onion in their pork fried rice when I ask and that is so appreciated. The rice is very good, by the way. We used to order from Ginger and they stopped delivering to our area. We've tried a bunch of bad places. Ts Ma is the best but so expensive. If you just want a tasty low priced Chinese place with the standard menu and a few different things, give this place a try! read more
