Ordered online (you pay at store) and picked up at the walk-up window. Pretty nice location. The four treasures was delicious, and subbed the white rice for lo mein (extra $4, should've just gotten it as is and ordered the lo mein as a side). However, all meat was cooked very well, broccoli was delicious, and perfect sauce. If you can make it last two meals, it's worth the cost. Portion: 3.4 lbs between the two meals is smaller than average. Pros: Tasty sesame chicken and chicken broccoli with good flavor and sauce consistency. Location and curb appeal. Cons: The pork fried rice was rather dry and lacked flavor. This restaurant uses older takeout containers resulting in a portion size about 30% lower than most of the Chinese takeouts in Chittenden County. Impression: Good food at an affordable price. I usually have huge reservations about the average chinese takeaway no matter where it may be. I have been a true fan of this place for the last few years even having after moved back to my hometown of NYC (which is the American epicenter of chinese food). During my junior and senior year of my finals I would go there for lunch every day. The roast pork with broccoli is consistently good, a bit oily but the sauce is excellent with a healthy portion of both pork and broccoli. The spring rolls are good, crisp and full of veggies. The soups are decent, the wonton soup being the top contender. The fried wontons at first were excellent but seem to have gone down a bit in quality over the last year. The best thing to get there though are the steamed pork dumplings. They are honestly some of the best I've ever had and come with a great sauce, also $5.25 for 8 dumplings is a great steal. read more

Ate there once and food was good for Chinese take out. Tried again recently and the logistics were a disaster. People waiting on sidewalk in the cold and wind for a long time to get orders they had called in a long time prior. Then some being told either their order had not been received or that it hadn't been started yet. They definitely need more space and more staff, but I would wait until maybe May to try them out. Sum up what I'm about to write: cheap food tasty fast I would like to rate this restaurant a star higher but this was only my first visit. i just moved to the area and needed to pick up something quick before work. to start i had some reservations about this place. every time i had driven by it seemed empty and the menu i could see from the road looked a bit outdated. but this evening i didn't have much of a choice due to time constraints. i was greeted warmly when first walking in. the place overall looked cleaned and organized. the place seemed very small on this side of the counter. there appeared to be only one or two small tables in the front. the lit up menu up on the wall showed only a few dishes with no prices. the menu however was filled with the usual small Chinese restaurant fare. though i did notice that the dinner combinations were quite cheap. i ended up getting a combination C20; General Tso's chicken with crab rangoons. what i got was a decent sized amount of food quickly (around 5 mins?) for a little over $6.00. when i got home i found that the food was pretty good. the chicken was tender and not to sweet. and the crab rangoons were soft, the way i like them. the only thing i would have wanted to see would be more ingredients in the pork fried rice (egg, sprouts maybe, more pork). just a bit of background: I'm picky about my Chinese food and i believe you don't have to spend over $10 for a good Chinese meal. I've had the pleasure of having a friend who is Chinese and he has introduced me to authentic Chinese food in the past. read more

When it comes to Chinese food in Chittenden county, you can pick any two of the following: tasty food, low price, quality takeout packaging. This place has cheap, tasty food with wretched packaging. They try to put too much food into a flimsy styrofoam clamshell, and I have roughly a 50% leakage rate. Also, I don't think they're completing all transactions on their cash register. They punch them in, make change, then delete the entry, without hitting the sale key. Always ask for a receipt, to improve the odds that the taxes they collect on your behalf make it to the right place. read more

Food ok, customer service extremely poor. Story below. Started out good, no one there, just me ordering two meals to go and we do not live close. He had the order memorized off the paper. However, got home, one meal was missing and extra rice. Simple mistake, but not happy and couldn't go back for a few hours. I called, but didn't realize he didn't understand what I was talking about over the phone. I went back and he didn't believe that they could have messed up an order. Very unfriendly, very disrespectful and tried again to say I had the food. Although the one meal we shared at home was ok as far as Chinese food goes, I would NEVER go there again and I can't recommend it. You don't treat people that way. They are lucky to be in this country and lucky to have a business but need to learn how to manage it and not disrespect customers. I could see if I was nasty or upset but I was very nice..... Generous portions and well prepared food that was still hot when I got it home. My daughter is a steamed dumpling snob and she declared the dumplings from here among the best she's ever had. They make the best egg rolls that are crispy, not chewy. My only complaint, and it's so small, is the way the crab rangoon is prepared leaves it very chewy around the edges, which I'm not a fan of; the filling itself was excellent. I'm on the shelf about China Garden. The food is average to sub-par, but the staff are always really nice and helpful. I go here occasionally as they are right across the street from where I work and it's incredibly convenient. Like I said above, I'm always treated really well by the staff, it's the food I have a problem with. I don't think I've ever had Chinese food this greasy, we're talking soaked by the way. The food actually tastes pretty good and you get large portions for a good price, I just can't get past how much oil they use. I've actually asked if they could use less oil and it still seems the same. So I'm still not sure if I would recommend this place or not. read more

We ordered three dishes and egg rolls. Their was some confusion regarding the noodles- Lo mein vs chow mein. My husband lived in Taiwan and has been to China and knows the difference better than I do, but the guy at the restaurant told us the chow mein noodles was not noodles but vegetables..? We ordered Beef Lo-Mein Noodles- This was the BEST dish and we loved it! We haven't had this good of noodles in a long time. General Tso's Chicken- Eh, not my favorite. Not enough sauce/spice. Kind of like frozen popcorn chicken from a grocery store with some sauce. Fried Rice- No thank you. No seasoning, just rice, some pork, and some onion.
