Friendly fast service and great selection of dishes all reasonably priced, and dine or take out thus is worth a try

We've patronized this restaurant for as long as they've been there and have been very happy with it all that time. We usually get takeout and they've got that system down to a science. They're very polite, efficient, and very, very rarely make a mistake (be real, nobody's perfect). I love their shrimp with lobster sauce over their shrimp fried rice, Chris seems to have become a fan of their chicken egg foo young. Prices have increased a bit recently but we understand that and rationalize it when we realize that we each get three meals out of a single order usually. I fully realize sushi is not cheap. Pearl for pearl though, this $7 (July 2022) order of tiny salmon roe sushi about the size of a quarter each piece is probably more expensive than NYC, London or Paris. read more

Let me begin by saying: I love love love this place!!!! Soooooo glad to have discovered it! Service was absolutely outstanding!!!! Employees were so friendly, so welcoming, so relaxed! They each checked up on us several times to make sure our food and drinks were ok, to see if we needed anything else, etc. Absolutely amazing! OMG, people in Vermont are soooo much friendlier and less stressed than people in Massachusetts. In general. Food was amazing! Prices are so low! Combos for $6.95!! Huge portions. My fiancé and I have been getting takeout from Eastern Dragon pretty regularly since we moved here and it has never disappointed! The food is always delicious! The best sweet potato roll I've ever had- if you've never had it, I suggest you give it a try!! The service is always super quick, usually only takes 20 minutes to have our order fulfilled! Also, the prices are beyond fair! There's nowhere else you can find a sushi roll for $4.50, that's a steal! Hannaford sushi costs nearly $10 and is not nearly as tasty or fresh as the sushi I've gotten here! read more

Every. Single. Order. has been WRONG. The Mei Fun noodles were stuck together like a brick. Heard it used to be good.

The food is ok, like many asian American cuisines it's doesn't exceed any expectations. The lobby is often very messy, not dirty, but messy, lots of ads in the windows, boxes of supplies here and there, and the owner's van in the best spot out front to pick up take out from their restaurant forcing circling the block. While we're limited in St Albans for Chinese food options, I would recommend them because they're often open, but not to be blown away by the food. read more

Been here a few times, I usually get the sushi here, and it's pretty good, especially for how far away it is from the ocean. The rice is done well and the fish has a good flavor. The gyoza was boiled instead of fried, which is weird (still flavorful). Haven't tried many of the Chinese dishes though. Overall a place I enjoy going back to though! read more

Went tonight to see how St. Albans Chinese and Japanese options are while on vacation. Prices were very reasonable, and service was good. Two of our group ordered sushi while the other two ordered Chinese. The sushi was pretty bad; not offensive, but clashing flavors and poor quality ingredients. The miso soup was like dishwater. Hoping for better luck with the Chinese options, and we had a bit of that here. Though the flavors were still weak they weren't terrible, and with a bit of effort they could have some decent Chinese here. Overall, everything was just bland and lacking. I'm not sure if that's due to the restaurant catering to what their local customers prefer or not. There wasn't anything that was entirely inedible aside from the miso soup, but also nothing worth a return trip. read more

This place is small town Vermont's idea of Chinese food. I had to remove what turned out to be a huge pile of greasy fried breading to get to the tiny little shrimp inside as you will see in the photo. That pile of breading is BIG. The scallion pancakes are ok, nothing special but those tiny little shrimp inside those huge and gross globs of breading was a total turn off. I should have know better than to get Chinese food in touristy Vermont. Big mistake. Don't spend your money here. For a hidden gem in this city, it's hands down the best sushi I have ever had considering the price. Everything else on the menu is eh in my opinion. There's better crab rangoons elsewhere but if you're a sushi lover, I recommend. I've been coming here for years just for the sushi! Driving through Vermont decided to stop and get lunch. Saw the yelp reviews so we felt pretty comfortable this was a good choice. Big mistake. The pork fried rice is actually just yellow rice. The crab Rangoon is mushy and inedible. The spring rolls fresh but completely bland and flavorless.My son who devours Chinese food left his food untouched. (He had ordered general Taos chicken off the lunch special). My wife's soup got thrown away. Her shrimp dish was full of broccoli stocks, not the florettes that you normally eat, but the tough part that normally goes into stew or gets thrown away. I liked my Mongolian beef. The beef was tender but they were more onions then anything else. Will not go back. read more

For a small town I am very impressed with the quality of the Sushi and the Chinese food that I ate. Having lived near NYC my parents were always taking us to Chinatown and as a grown up I have enjoyed eating Sushi in many parts of the world. So this restaurant is a treat. Disappointing. This place is not very good, in my opinion. The Chinese food may be better than the sushi menu. But the miso wasn't good in my opinion. The sushi rolls, I got salmon avocado and a tuna roll, looked like I had tried to make them myself. They tasted not good. That's one thing, the other is far more important. The dining room was unclean. The paper menus were stained and gross. The soy dispensers had crusty stuff on them and were gross. A cook came out of the kitchen and his apron looked like it hadn't been washed for quite sometime. I lost my appetite. The service was friendly enough. Food is terrible and service too. If your order is wrong they accuse you of lying and make you bring the entire back to make sure your not trying to scam them for more food. Having spent the winter in Orlando, I was really disappointed with the places there, as good Chinese was expensive, and decent priced places were terrible. Eastern Dragon has always been excellent at a decent price! Returning to VT for the summer, ED was the "Must Go" place for us for a huge takeout order of our favorites for the family. I must say, we were not disappointed! Sushi was fresh and tasty. We had Sesame Chic, Gen Tso, and Salt and Pepper Chic, and Mong. Beef. All fresh and wonderful. Went on Christmas Day and they were SLAMMED. Ordered ahead and they told me it'd be an hour wait, and then in the building I had to wait 45+ minutes more. BUT they got our kinda complex order right, it was heckin' tasty and fresh, and the staff was kind and helpful despite being a little (understandably) harried. First time eating here. They have huge menu with both Chinese and Japanese dishes. I opted for the Mongolian beef, a chef special spicy tuna roll, and some egg drop soup. The kids enjoyed some spring rolls, miso soup, and a california roll. My wife went with general tso's chicken. No complaints. The food was tasty and relatively inexpensive compared to other local restaurants. The dinning room is small and drafty every time the door is opened. I will definitely return when I crave some asian cuisine. read more

I used to love there food a few years ago but every time I go now I wait longer and longer and the portion sizes are smaller and smaller. I know their staff works hard but being told your food well be ready "in about 20 minutes" and it taking 53 minutes is absolutely absurd! I have been to Eastern Dragon at least 20 times over the past few years and I never want to admit to how many times I have ordered take out there. For St. Albans, this place is amazing. I have never had a bad meal and have never been disappointed. I always get sushi and it is beautiful and fresh. My son can't get enough of the beef sticks and General Tso chicken. This is not your ordinary Chinese take out either. You will not be disappointed.The best part of Eastern Dragon is the owners and staff. They care about you and are always happy to be serving you. Wow, I didn't realize that I hadn't reviewed this place yet! I've gotten food here many time since living in St. Albans, I haven't ever had a issue with any dishes, everything has always been fresh, quick and good! They have only messed up on one order, I called to pick up for work and ordered my food. When I arrived and told them what I ordered, they realized the mix up and remade my food in under 10 minutes! The place looks fairly clean and well kept, the service isn't really note-worthy but usually friendly enough. This is my go - to chinese! read more

I love this place! Why? Because when we haven't been in for a while they still ask if we want our usual. On a recent date night without child (what's the point of having a date if the kiddo is with you?) We were asked where the kiddo was. Point of fact, I didn't order the usual and was pleasantly surprised! The veggie tempura with veggie sushi was quite good and I highly recommend it. Love you Eastern Dragon guys! We are new to Vermont (dude!...I have neighbors who have been in the same house for over 40 years and the locals STILL refer to it as the previous owner's house). I love Eastern Dragon because they were welcoming from the first visit unlike many other places in St. Albans. At first I was going to put restaurants in the previous sentence but places works just fine and covers more of my experience here. Great food, great service....end of story. read more
