The service wasn't great. They weren't rude but they take your order, bring the food, and bring the check that's it! Also Melody made a comment about 3 years ago and the same thing happened to me. I should've read the reviews before going here but I didn't and that was my fault. I went and got two sushi rolls. They were pretty bland so I ate a couple pieces. Tried to dunk them in soy sauce, but then I started feeling bad so I ate about half a roll paid for my food. They kept asking me was anything wrong and did I like it? I was honest with them and told them it wasn't good, but I didn't really feel like arguing for a redo or refund. The freshest and most delicious sushi in Vermont. The Chinese dishes are so yummy and the portions are very generous. My family has been eating at Asian Bistro since they opened. We have family celebrations at their restaurant and have had them cater private parties. As soon as you walk in to the restaurant you will always get a friendly and warm welcome. They have a huge take out business , but that never interferes with the in house table service. So many times I have run into friends and people l know dining at the same time as myself at the Asian Bistro. I Highly recommend this wonderful restaurant. read more

I just moved to the area and was really craving some Chinese food and sushi, I made a huge mistake ordering from here. I didn't really have any issues with their customer service as there was minimal interaction, the food is... well keep reading to find out. I ordered Kung Pao Chicken, Crab Rangoon (they called it like crab meat wonton or something), Spicy yellow tail, Spicy tuna, and Philadelphia rolls. I ate the Chinese portion of it for lunch and the Kung Pao Chicken was breaded - I have been to innumerable Chinese food places and never once has it been breaded, it was also really sweet vs spicy which is how it's supposed to taste. The Crab Rangoon was 99.9% cream cheese and the tiniest minced crab meat I spotted in 1/6 of them. Where this goes really south though is the "Sushi" which I ate a few hours later for dinner (I had put it in the fridge in the meantime). I posted a picture so everyone else can see, it looks like the tuna and yellow tail were minced or something not actual whole pieces of fish wrapped in a maki roll. It also didn't taste that good, it didn't taste like it'd gone bad or anything, just not good - same for the Philadelphia roll which looks like they might've actually used small whole pieces of salmon for. Where this goes even further south is that within 10 minutes of eating this I felt really, really sick - and then spent the next 5-10 minutes vomiting profusely all of the sushi I had just consumed. This tells me that the fish that was used was not "good" in the sense that it'd gone bad, and I don't think the 4 hours in my fridge are what prompted that. I am NEVER eating here again, and strongly encourage others to follow my lead unless you want to risk food poisoning. read more

Ordered crispy spring rolls, hot and sour soup, and Mongolian Beef. Requested a side of red chili oil/sauce, received Sriracha. (Contacted by restaurant, they don't have red chili oil, so they sent Sriracha). No spice at all to the soup, and the eggrolls were soggy. Mongolian Beef is tasty, and the rice is well, rice. Overall, I wouldn't necessarily recommend, but I'd try it again, based purely on the responsiveness of the restaurant. read more

She felt her noodles were okay, but my chicken was drenched in a sweet syrupy sauce and was literally gross. Do not order this item! While we were there ear-piercing sirens went off and didn't stop. But other then that not impressed with the quality and food taste for how expensive it was. ~ When ordering the Beef Lo Mein we asked for no veggies cause it was for our child. They refused to make it without veggies. This made me feel like they were giving us already made/ old food and I should have listened to my gut cause it was dry and had no flavor. ($7.95) ~ Also ordered two grab rangoons and wasn't expecting to get tiny greasy balls with little to nothing in it. ($6.50 for 6) ~ Pork fried rice seemed to be the best item that tasted like it's supposed too. ($7.95) ~ Ordered some pork ribs. Was disappointed in how little they were and tough to eat. (Gave them to my cat and he happily cuddled and ate the rubs) We also ordered two dishes we've never had before just to try it. I got the Kung Pao Chicken w/ Peanuts. It had A LOT of chicken and celery. Not sure if this is how the dish is made but I would have liked more mixed veggies w/ sauce in it. ($10.50) My husband got the Phoneix Seafood Deluxe. Every piece was thickly coated in bread and lots of sauce. Again, not sure if this is how the dish is supposed to be made but he didn't like it. I couldn't try the dish cause of being pregnant. Asian Bistro has very good sushi, but my past order warranted a less than glowing review for a couple reasons. First, my one roll and two different sashimis arrived two hours after I initially ordered. I had to call the restaurant twice to check on it. The first call I was told the driver was already on the way, and then I had to call 35 minutes later when they never showed up and was told once again they were already on their way. An hour is long but understandable, but two hours for sushi is crazy. Second, the menu stated the sashimi was three pieces, when it arrived it was two pieces. Not to mention it was nigiri not sashimi. I loved the Shrimp tempura roll and the fish itself tasted good, but this experience was less than stellar. read more

There is no comparison between this Asian Bistro and the one of the same name in Williston. I had their sushi a couple of weeks back, and thought it was an off day. Today confirms that I will never order sushi from them again, or anything else for that matter. I ordered the eel cucumber and spicy salmon rolls. The eel was practically non-existent, and the only flavor came through was the cucumber - the expected flavorful sauce was missing. Just the texture of cucumber and chewy rice. The spicy salmon was worst. The salmon had a grainy texture and was flavorless. There was a thick gooey sauce. I've included a photo of the spicy salmon roll opened up, so you could see the gooey colorful flavorless supposed spicy salmon. Never again. read more

We order takeout from here often since it's just down the street and always meets our expectations, but last night we dined in and were blown away by how amazing everything (especially sushi and tempura) was when served immediately and at the ideal temperature. The one big motivating factor for me visiting here was airline miles. That's right, I had to complete some spend and this was a participating restaurant. I should've chosen somewhere else. This place is the mix of American Chinese cuisine with a dash of sushi to cater to the American public. On a Friday night, tables were full, but only 3 people were working the floor. As such, service was dismally slow. After 10 minutes, I finally managed to get water. I ordered the sashimi dinner for $19.50, which came with soup and salad. For the person that has had a fair amount of sushi, it's immediately noticeable that what they serve here is subpar. I am almost entirely sure the miso soup came out of a packet mixed with hot water. The salad was decent, crisp and cold. The sashimi dinner was a 20 piece set with rice. I won't get into the semantics of frozen fish, as nearly all sushi fish are frozen. You simply cannot get fresh fish with the variety presented. The white tuna was not true white tuna, but the cheaper escarole. The sabe was yummy, but it's hard to mess that up. It's often imported pre-marinated and frozen. The tuna was not defrosted properly - too watery. The salmon, eel, and yellow tail were okay. You can tell that the sushi "chef" here isn't really one. The fish was cut into squarish chunks and the ragged edges call for a knife sharpening. Overall, I got my miles. I wish I chose some place tastier. read more

Everyone saying this place is overpriced are correct. Even if the food was halfway decent it would be overpriced, but it's also meh to bad. The sashimi was clearly frozen at some point (and still SUPER cold when served) and probably the worst I've ever had. The miso soup was somehow barely lukewarm and a bizarre flavor that was not good (cheap china buffets have better miso than this!). And the side salad came with a giant glob of mayo on top that just made me feel gross. I'm baffled that this place is somehow still operational tbh. I typically order from this place. Food is OKAY. Coming from NJ my expectation for all "ethnic" food in BVT is very high and near impossible to satisfy. At any rate, I placed an order tonight and began cleaning my apartment out--when I finally get a knock on my door the delivery man was extremely rude. He handed me the bag and told me "to check my phone, i called multiple times." OK. I thought that was abrupt. In college, we used to frequent the Williston restaurant so we were excited to try out the Winooski location. The space is very open and was rathe empty given how bustling the rest of the Winooski Circle was. There is a small chained off area on the sidewalk for outdoor seating which we opted for since it was such a beautiful evening. The host was very welcoming and seated us outside but after he left we were left alone for a while before a waitress emerged from the restaurant. We ordered drinks and food and waited a decent amount of time before deciding we would head inside for a booth in hopes of more attentive service. The host who sat us originally was super nice about our switch and the service picked up. The food was presented well and was decent, though one of the orders (beef lo mein) came out chicken lo mein instead. Overall, a pretty okay experience. There was a decent number of people picking up food so take out seems to be a pretty popular choice. Favorites of the evening: get the creaky chicken (still don't really know why it's creaky but it's tasty) and a hot sake! read more

Worse Chinese food ever. Everything was salty and too much sauce. My husband and I wanted to go to Tiny Thai but it was crowded. We should have waited the extra 20 minutes to get a table. They don't chop their own vegetables. Frozen peas, carrots, etc. in cheap sugary and salty sauces. The Phoenix-Dragon dish was horrific; chicken was rubbery and the lobster was crappy tail pieces. They can't even cook brown rice! For $17.50 all we got was stomach aches and food poisoning. The place hardly had anyone, which should have tipped us off. The sushi was average and the sushi rice was poor. One should worry when they have 50 dishes of different Asian cuisines. They really don't make anything here except straight from the freezer. As an Asian this place is an insult to my palate. This place needs to be shut down. The only people who give this place a thumbs up are people who must be eating the crappy American Chinese take-out food. I would not trust their judgement on food. read more

I've found the food pretty hit or miss. I think the hot dishes are pretty good--the broccoli and eggplant with garlic sauce was quite tasty. The sushi is not good, though. I've ordered a few rolls from here, and they've ranged from fine (salmon and avocado) to really bad (Boston Red Roll). Had high hopes for this place and will never be going back. I placed a takeout order for a roll got home to find it was not my order. I called them to tell them I got the wrong roll and I drive all the way back to show them and they send me home with the roll I bought and not a new one. Claiming the roll I bought is fried and that fried rolls don't come served with avocado, yet that was not what the roll entailed at all on their menu. Not only do I not have food to eat, but I also wasted so much time commuting back to the restaurant. In addition the crab rangoons are awful and are 99% cream cheese and miniature. Years ago I used to come to Asian Bistro and I enjoyed it so much my boyfriend and I decided to go back last night. The restaurant wasn't packed but they only had 1 server. The drinks were good but the waitress was sort of high strung. She brought the drinks so quickly that she spilled mine on the table. She also spoke really quickly so it was hard to understand her and when we didn't order quick enough for her, I got the feeling she was getting impatient. The food was fine, sushi was good, crab rangoon was good and my bf enjoyed his Pad Thai. My biggest issue is cleanliness. The restaurant was really dirty. The table we sat at was sticky, the sushi menu on the table that was in a plastic frame was covered in gunk and looked like it had never been cleaned. The blinds on the window were held together with a hair band. The worst part was the bathroom the toilet paper holder was dirty, floors were dirty, there were visible cleaning products sprawled all over the ground under the sink. The floors were also covered in dirt and debris. This restaurant has a lot of potential and its in a great location but it could use a makeover/deep cleaning. read more

I got takeout here the other day - awful. I ordered the special pineapple fried rice, which is a dish I love when I get it elsewhere. It smelled of old fish, had barely any pineapple and was expensive. I had to throw most of it away, it was that bad.
