This is our go to Chinese food in Hendersonville. Always reliable and consistent. Last night we got general tso (I cooked more broccoli at home), fried rice, and dumplings. Food is priced well. The Chinese food is generally good ( It is more on the side of standardized fast food). We go back time and time again for their food. If you are looking for high-end Chinese food this would not be for you, but the food is worth filling up your stomach. They usually add in some special (donuts) something extra based on your order. They are typically very prompt but can have busier than usual times which can be frustrating. Covid turned the restaurant into a "go-and-pick-up your food" or have it delivered fast food restaurant style. I'm grading the New China Garden a little hard ( with only 3-Stars), but the food is good and we've never gotten sick and we continue to go back. The food is good! If I were giving it a percentage it would be about a 78% out of 100%. They are not a fancy-looking establishment, but you are not there to generally hang out. I visited this restaurant 2 years ago and they had the most wonderful noodles with rich broth and meat with onions. Loved it. I retuned this week, ordered egg rolls, shrimp egg fu young and general Taos chicken Unfortunately, 2 of the egg roles were burnt ( with black marks) and the egg foo young was black as well. My family really wanted Chinese food and this place always not too far from home. Food was really good. Payment was quick & easy - you can't get into the restaurant because they have it blocked off so all you can do is pay and pick up your food. I've been eating here fairly regularly since about April 2022, and it's definitely in my top 3 "hole in the wall" Chinese places. Their quality is consistent, they don't keep you waiting, and the prices are exactly what you'd expect, so fantastic. Wow. We are staying here a couple day's. Becuase of cov19 we ordered take out. We ordered several dishes from cHicken fried rice, gen Tao chicken etc. The food was perfect. Consistently great tasting food. 95% of the time I get the Mongolian Beef w/ Pork Fried Rice. I ask for extra spice. It's really good. The place is very small inside, but clean tables & floor. Called on 1/8 18 to place an order was put on hold for 28 minutes. Called back complained about the wait and placed order the person on phone said they would give 10% discount. Friend picked up order and then found out I did not get the discount. I called back to complain again person on phone seemed very unconcerned. I ask who the owner was the person sais they were the owner. I have placed orders here before and they usually leave something out or the food is cold. Previous trips here were acceptable, but this week was autrocious. My beef and broccoli was warmed over for at least the third time. The meat was mushy and tasteless. The broccoli was beyond soggy. My wifes chicken chow mein was dominated by large hunks of celery. Even the fortune cookies were terrible. This is the only Chinese we have liked so far in this state!! They even gave us free doughnuts which was a nice bonus! We had a variety of items they were all good except the chicken dish needed garlic or something to balance it out...Tofu was good but...it was fried in the same oil as fish so basically tasted like fish, keep that in mind when ordering or ask them to switch out the oil...dont think I'd order this again bc I don't eat fish...so far this is the only Chinese we have liked I'd say a solid 3.5stars. read more

My coworkers and I love this place! We order take out at least once a week and the Chinese food is so authentic and good. The staff is very friendly and always helping out. I mean we order like five meals at a time sometimes and they are super sweet and never have they ever gotten an order wrong. The containers are durable and keep your food in! LOL. Food was TERRIBLE ! Ordered the healthy steamed chicken and broccoli and the chicken looked like rubber and tasted like fake chicken. The broccoli had a very weird smell to it all. They were VERY friendly! However I was not impressed with the food. General tso chicken was more fried batter than chicken and was covered in very sweet sauce and no spice.
