Always enjoy the food called in a pick up order and it was ready on time hot and delicious

The food was actually very good despite coming in on a whim and not really knowing much about the place. The inside could use some love and care and the customer service was so so. I was extra nice over and over again and I think that actually inspired the cashier to be a little nicer...although she was saying goodbye like she was try to get rid of me...but at least she put forth and effort lol read more

The last 2 times,I was extremely disappointed. *crab rangu was so tough it had to be ripped to eat it. The meat was tough as well. The beef chop suey had only bean sprouts as a vegetable. No cookies. This is the WORST CHINESE RESTAURANT IN ILLINOIS! They have the Worst Delivery People I have ever met. I ordered General Tao's Chicken, it was BURNT and upon inspection didn't even resemble real cooked Chicken! All the rest of the order was very bland and taste refrozen ... I loved the website menu showed IMAGES of the noodles! Ordered the Combo appetizer, and LoMein with shrimp. The Combo was really good, and you get a lot for the price. The shrimp dinner had many shrimp, after eating quite a bit, I still had 8 shrimp left the second day! Was enough for 2 days. Delivery was prompt and they were generous with condiments. Great place for take-out. (Also, THEY deliver, not a service.) read more

Our local Chinese food spot has been closed for a while since covid and needed some Chinese food in our lives so started calling around to other places. Called a few different places that were open and they either didn't carry items we typically order or we're out of them until we called china Garden. The Asian man who answered the phone was extremely nice and helpful, spoke English very well. I say this because some places seemed to not understand my questions and transfer me to someone else, or literally just hang up.They had different names for the typical items we order (from our closed local place), The man I spoke with helped us order the dishes we wanted and even offered different options/suggestions based on what people typically prefer. I was really impressed with how much time and effort they spent making sure we got exactly what we were looking for, most places wouldn't and didn't do that. After ordering, was given a standard time for pickup, think 25-30 min. When we got there it was ready and clearly freshly made. The dishes were exactly what we were looking for. We were also happily surprised to find they added free almond cookies, which were extremely delicious (along with the typical Fortune cookies). Being that it was/is during the covid-19 pandemic I'll make some comments for that as well. There were only two people working when I walked in for pickup. One in the back kitchen cooking (visible from the front) and one working the register. Both employees were practicing social distancing, both wearing gloves, and masks. The place was very clean and the man who checked me out was the one who I spoke with on the phone was extremely nice/professional. Highly recommend this place! read more

I'm not sure what the other reviewer was talking about regarding delivery, for this place definitely does deliver, though they do have some parameters this encompasses. This place has the best veggie eggrolls! I've been going here since they opened about 10 years back. While the rest of their dishes are mediocre Chinese fare, the veggie eggrolls are the size of my arm, stuffed with pure goodness. Whenever I go to visit my mother on the SW side, I purposely make a habit to visit this place for some eggrolls. The people are very nice and pleasant, always remembering my name even after all these years and many moons between seeing me. My family and I have been eating here for longer than I can remember. We are not snobs when it comes to Asian food, so I won't pretend like I'm one in this review. It's pretty simple, the food is hot and tasty when it's delivered. The veggies aren't over cooked, and the portions are great. It's nice because the delivery guys often remember us, and even sometimes on the phone from the sound of our voice. If you spend a certain amount of money they also throw in Delicious almond cookies for free. This place is sure to be a family favorite! Lastly, if you are a snob about Asian food, why no to downtown to some fancy expensive place or move to China... this is a mom and pop take out place, and some of these negative reviews are really upsetting, and wrong. read more

Here is a local strip mall take out Chinese joint called China Gardens and I'll give it a try. A vegetarian section is down at the bottom of the menu with some items for the rest of my family who are veg-heads. Great for my family of vegetarians. Me, I love beef. Prices are reasonable and it lasts for two or three meals because they give you a lot. For a family of four and $45, it felt like I was lifting two bowling balls in weight of food in those take-out bags. While waiting you are treated with old brown dining chairs, 1970 faded rose colored remnant restaurant tables and selected 6th month old issues of Windy City Wheels and/or Family Time magazine. Perhaps the food is authentic because they talk to each other in an Asian language of some sort. I'm hungry and could really care less about the decor. Give me food and let me go home and watch O'Reilly on the boob tube. After eating it I say this--I was not impressed with the taste of the food that was totally vegetarian-- which had a old oil flavor of a wok that hadn't been washed thoroughly for awhile. That was disappointing. The beefy veggies dish for me was way better. The beef steak strips themselves must have been high grade beef because they weren't fatty or sinuous just delicious and tender as can be. The sweet and sour orange chicken was regular fare. Quick, friendly, mounds of food for the money which is still in the fridge for second, third and fourth helpings. However, for me the veggies just didn't taste scrumptious like some Chinese food does so, it doesn't matter how much you get, you gotta like eating the stuff. I would never buy the veggie stuff again but I would get the beefy veggie item. 2 stars. It ain't the best. read more

My wife and I order from them often. Have pickup time is just about always 15 minutes, which is good compared to other local Chinese places. They have good fried rice and entrees. My in laws Fell in love with their Kung Bao Shrimp, but I usually go for the beef chop suey or bbq pork kow. I like their efrolls and haven't noticed a bad oil like other reviewers. Not sure about that. Overall, their food is great and the guy Jason who is usually the cashier is awesome. He's extremely friendly and likes to take care of his repeat customers. read more

This is my husband's and my best and only place we will order Chinese food from. Even our 7 year old daughter loves it. We usually order fried rice. We all love the jalapeno chicken and shrimp, and this is the only place we know that has that type of fried rice. We also enjoy their combination fried rice and usually get an extra large if you order extra meat. It's a reasonable price too. I also have tried their egg foo young and love it! The one man who works there, who I believe is the owner is super nice. I would suggest that you call in fist to pace your order if your going to pick up because they are always usually busy and the wait time can be long. We order from here regularly and haven't found much to really complain about. Delivery usually takes less than their 45 minute estimate. The food itself is about what you would expect from a Chinese Take-Out place...and you get a lot of it. You're guaranteed to have left overs. I thought it was delicious! I had the vegetable egg rolls, Thai Crazy Noodle with Tofu and Kung Bao Vegetables with white rice. The tofu was perfect, it was fried and super tasty. The order was super fast, and they gave me plenty of hot mustard which I really appreciate. They were kind, and everything worked out great. It was perfect, food was hot and very delicious. There were big portions, with plenty for leftovers. I was very pleased and will go there again to try out the rest of the veggie dishes. Will also recommend. read more

Ok this was trash. I immediately threw my whole order away and went elsewhere. Beef and shrimp fried rice was gummy and not fried very much. It was clumped together, and lacked flavor. The general tsao chicken was sub par, at best....crab rangoon had toooo much onion, and the dam egg roll was mushy on the jnside....made i wasted my 23 bucks here. If there are other options for Chinese food in the area, I would rather get food from them. Usually the food from here is fair, and a few times downright awful. They really do need to change the oil they use to cook their egg rolls and crab Rangoon; sometimes these items tend to taste like week old grease. They are a take-out shop only, no delivery available. Good Chinese Food when you're craving awesome BBQ pork fried rice, needing Chinese on a Monday when everyone else is closed, or have no cash because they take credit cards. When you deliver they sometimes throw in a free order of Crab Rangoon. The man working the counter is very friendly, unlike other reviews have said. Their chicken chow mein and mongolian beef is kind of weak compared to Jade Palace (another Chinese place in Hickory Hills). Their best dishes are bbq pork fried rice or szechwan delight. read more

There was a time when we lost power to our area. We decided to go look around for a good place not too far away for food. My uncle said that there was a place in Hickory Hills that has good food. Well, the good thing is you get a lot for your money. The bad part was the taste of the food. Now I blamed it on the area losing power as they cooked in dime light. I LOVE this place. I moved out of Hickory Hills almost 10 years ago and have yet to find another chinese place that comes close to China Garden. I am a little disappointed that the egg rolls seem to have shrunk over the years but I still love them. I've never used their delivery service and I tend to get a lot of the same things, but I've never been disappointed. I look forward to visiting my parents or going to the dentist (still in Hickory) because that means I get China Garden! read more

I am absolutely shocked by the good reviews for this restaurant. The food is indelible. Gross! I should have suspected something was up when I placed an order for delivery and they arrived at my house 20 minutes later. I live 15 minutes from this place. Every item we ordered was very cold. The rice was very sticky and clumped together. The batter on the sweet-and-sour chicken was hard as a rock and tasted like it had been sitting for days. It was not edible. The Crab Rangoon's tasted like they had been sitting in a freezer for one year and refried 10 times. My friend took one bite of his Rangoon and gagged. It had an odd taste as well. Also, the batter on it was hard and stale. The only item that we ordered that tasted OK was the eggrolls. This by far was worst food I have ever eaten from a restaurant. I will never order from here again. The health department should shut this place down. I can't imagine what the interior looks like. read more

Worst service ever!!! Placed an order for delivery and when I got the food it was not what I wanted. When I called and spoke to the OWNER he refused to re-make the food and have it delivered. Food was all wasted because of a food allergy, and when explained to the owner he just argued with me for 15 minutes telling me it was my fault and that he wanted me to come to the restaurant so he can 'talk' to me. Never had that suggestion made to me when I complained about a mistake THEY made...Will never order from them again and would rather pay extra for better service. read more
