Ordered something mushroom fried rice and the rice seemed a bit overcooked and kinda dry

Fried Rice was great. It's hard to find good fried rice. Appetizers were good as well. Just wish they were open later than 8:15pm.

I've been driving past this place for a while and been wanting to try it. Having a hankering for some Asian cuisine I called em up. Upon walking in there were about 6 people inside all waiting. The diversity in the crowd had my mind assured this place would be good. The restaurant was clean, well lit from the natural light, everything on the menu was presented in a very legible order. I called ahead so the wait for my food wasn't expected to be long. I let the young lady know my number order, took payment ($19.60), and I was told to wait. Total wait time was about 5 minutes, if that. I ordered a large vegetable rice, two vegetable egg rolls and four piece crab rangoon. On the ride home I could smell the aroma from the fried rice. Got home to this beautiful meal. Started off great very nice color on everything. Rice very well presented, nice stir fried veggies, very beautiful color on the rice (essential) very nice aroma and not oily. The taste was a 5. Moved onto the egg rolls and crab rangoon. They had a very good taste but they were not a hot as I would've like. Also the bite on the egg roll was a bit chewy than I like. So I would give this like a 3.8/4. Food is always great. Service is always exemplary. Ambiance is not a factor. Close to home.

I ordered Large Shrimp Fried Rice, small, peppered steak, small Hong Sue chicken, 2 egg rolls, it was $40.17. There can be no ambiance, nor proper service when there's a language barrier. The price was ok, I asked for extra green pepper and onion in the peppered steak, the server replied, "you already pay", Me: well, yes, Server:" you pay extra money" Me: how much? Server: $4.00. Understandable if I were asking for steak, so no thanks. I could not remember my total order, if in fact I had ordered the shrimp egg fu Yung (which by the way I had forgotten) I looked on my receipt, my order was not listed nothing relating to the order, or the breakdown of what I paid for or how much. A date, authorization code APP label Aid, TC, nothing pertaining to the food I ordered. I knew it would be too hard to order again. The food was not good, the Hong sue chicken was awful, how does chicken gravy get that black, too much soy sauce, the peppered steak was not good, the shrimp fried rice was 1/2 way decent. Very convenient place. Ordered my food, picked it up about 17 minutes later and it was all ready. However, the cashier acted like she couldn't get off the phone to pay attention to ringing me out for not even two minutes. $17 for large chicken fried rice, egg foo yung, and four egg rolls. Not bad. Food was good, never had bad Chinese food. Gave a lot of sauce too, always a plus. Will order from here again. read more

The lady who works the register and the phones is a wack job she acts like your a jerk for calling and ordering food. She yells at you for no reason . The food quality is also Garbage the sweet and sour chicken is the worst thing on the menu . read more

Late delivery and wrong order. Ordered from Mr. Chop Suey for the first time, and they really disappointed. My order was for the Chef Selection Chow Fun dinner (shrimp fried rice, egg roll and pop) and an order of crab rangoon. The delivery wasn't crazy late, maybe by 10-15min. So i'm not going to judge them to much on that. But the order i got was Pad Tai, not Chow Fun and unfortunately they forgot the fried rice. The egg roll was actually really good, and the crab rangoon was okay. Might try then again, but won't use Grub hub to order. read more

I ordered the chicken wing lunch special today and can we say HORRIBLE, I order from there a couple times a month but today I don't know what happened, the rice was burned and I smelled it as soon as I opened the container, I still tasted it and no flavor at all, it tasted like plain white rice coated in burned flavor, I have to give them a break or find a new restaurant. I also called to inform them but whoever answered was rude and couldn't care less, I still recommended to him that they toss out the rice. FYI they did open at 12:00, I put my order in around 12:25 and picked it up around 12:55 thinking it would be fresh but nope nope nope nope nope.... Lately this place may be getting a bad rap. But... It's imho because of the tiny little lady who is now taking the orders! She's just rude. Not sure if she's intending to be that way or if it simply comes across negative due to language barrier. In any case, customer service should be number one at any restaurant. We have been a loyal customer since the '90s and the food is still excellent - one of the few chinese spots that prepares singapore noodle just right - we love it! If these are new owners, it has not affected the taste of the food BUT the order taking MUST improve! SOON!!! You have lost your 5 star rating with us. read more

They are rude and didn't get my order right. How can you mess up shrimp fried rice with extra bean sprouts, pea pods and onions. Ooooh because you were on the phone while I was ordering. So the pea pods were left out. Several people behind the counter and no one else can answer the phone while someone takes the customers order properly. This is my last time patronizing this place. What I ordered was awful. The Empress chicken was absolutely disgusting. The chicken pieces tasted old and were swimming in a thick, syrupy, overly sweet sauce. I threw it away and I'm not a picky eater. The chicken wings were ok. But hey, the steamed white rice was excellent. read more

Tasty food at reasonable prices with OK portions. Beef Fried Rice & Egg Foo Young was very good. Fast and friendly service.

Still good but I think there are new owners and changes have occurred. Alas, the once outstanding pot stickers are now only so-so. We've had them 3x now and I can no longer recommend them. I have yet to try the soups to see if there is improvement on that front. read more

Whenever we go visit my parents in BI, my mom cooks for us like there is no tomorrow. For once, we let her take a break from cooking. My dad was craving some Chinese food so we headed over to Mr. Chop Suey for some take-out. Atmosphere I looked online for a menu and nothing. You need to physically go to this place to see what is on the menu (no menus to-go either, bummer). This place has probably seen better days - it is not somewhere where you'd want to dine in as you're looking out to a parking lot, the tables/chairs are not very clean or comfortable and there was no A/C despite it being really hot outside. Given that there were several people waiting for carry out orders, this seems to be the norm. Food We ordered several items including: shrimp & chicken fried rice, chicken chop suey, orange chicken, crab rangoon & overall they were all very good & the portions were huge. Everything was really hot and we could tell it was made fresh to order. I was also surprised at how neatly packaged everything was and the lack of grease - awesome. I will say though that the orange chicken was not as spicy as advertised (did not taste spicy at all) and it looked a little odd since it was a really bright, almost neon red color. This was probably my least favorite so minus 1 star. Service Our order was ready in 15 minutes and he even threw in some chicken wings for free for placing a large order - awesome! (and I'm glad he did since apparently they were really good - the wings were gone fast!) My one small gripe was that even with probably like 15lbs of food ordered - we only got 2 fortunate cookies (I know, she got real greedy). Overall, we got a ton of decent Chinese food, fast and friendly service for under $40. When we're back in town and looking for Chinese food, we'll defs hit up this place again (but will probably stay away from the orange chicken) - if only they had menus so we could get delivery! read more

Leafy on the phone in a hurry Called for delivery food came faster than what she said Driver showed up my ticket was 13 bucks handed him a 20 bill he said thank you and start driving off I yelled at him to stop and asked him for my change he even asked me how much change I want back I told him because of you attitude and work ethic I want my 7 dollar back I'm always a nice tipper but don't test me He left with a long face but hey sorry Change your attitude and life will smile at you One star because of the driver Food is ok read more

What can I say. It's no frills. The food is good enough. It's fast too. No place to eat and the waiting area could use a broom and a mop. It's good enough. It's not my first choice, but they have better hours than my first choice. It's also conveniently located. read more

If I could leave no stars, I would. This place is horrible. I just spent 5 minutes arguing with the delivery food driver because he doesn't know how to read addresses on houses. He insisted I do not know where I live and he's been delivering food so he knows. Well apparently you don't. Not worth the frustration. Thought I'd try it out because of the good reviews. I live in EP and have yet to find a chinese place to die for (sorry Chi Tung fans). Unfortunately there is no menu online and so I had to drive there and then wait. I got the Kung Po Chicken and my daughter got the General Tso. I also ordered veggie egg fu yung and beef fried rice. The egg fu yung was good, the bfrice was okay but YUCK on both our chicken dishes, which is unfortunate since you can't order 1/2 orders which I normally do when trying new places My chicken was rubbery and my daughter said hers had a very strange taste (and something smelled real bad in the car coming home). I have lived in Blue Island since 2002 and I have always passed up this place. My normal spot was See Thru up the street then later Mr. Orange Chicken but lately both of those places are no longer good (to me). Anywho, I decided to try Mr. Chop Suey because my taste for Chinese food was super strong and must I say Mr. Chop Suey did not disappoint me. I ordered the Mongolian Beef for myself and the Sweet and Sour Chicken for my daughter and both were beyond amazing...even the egg rolls were delish. They give you large portions that are hot and full of flavor!! This will most definitely be my new spot and the only regret I have is not giving them a try sooner. read more
