I go there for food. It's serve yourself. The price is excellent. The food is very diverse and good. If a dish gets low, they typically replace it right away. It's typically very busy so if you want a quiet place go elsewhere. But there are reasons why those other places are quiet. read more

This used to be one of the best Chinese restaurants around. But the owner cannot get any decent help. Therefore, the customer service is lacking to say the least. This is not an isolated case. Owner desperately needs a separate space - she is constantly yelling, screaming on the phone. Her staff do not respect her at all. This place has great food but the service and delivery are completely unpredictable. They are ALWAYS late, especially in early evening. They are always short staffed. So if you're inside the restaurant or waiting for take out or delivery- you'll just be standing there waiting while you watch everyone else waiting. Again, the food is really good. 3.5 stars. One of the better places to eat in Mt Pleasant. Service is great and they offer student special combo plates: smaller portions (better for the waist), fried rice and a crab rangoon appetizer. I absolutely love their bean pastries for dessert, these are Chinese crispy pastries stuffed with sweet red bean paste, served HOT! AMAZING FOOD! I'm vegan and I was looking for something different to eat up here in Mt Pleasant other than the usual few things I eat. But now I found a new favorite! I chose to try out the Vegetarian orange chicken, and for take out it came with SO MUCH! Although expensive, it serves for about 2-3 meals!!! Tons of the chicken with veggies & a big tub of rice! I did have to wait about 20 minutes for my food, but after I tasted it, it was worth the wait. I ordered on line and had a friend pick up food. Had to call in charge card info because online site wouldn't take charge info. Had 4 entries ordered and they were all 4 wrong. 3 of the meals were combo meals that were suppose to have fried rice. We were given white rice. The forth meal was suppose to have chow main noodles which are crunchy. Got something that looked like spaghetti noodles that were all clumped together in a ball. Asked for hot mustard packets and got none. Quality and quantity was very disappointing. One entre was suppose to have water chestnuts in it, It didn't have one. Vegetable soup was basically a bowl of hot water with veggies. No flavor at all. When my friend picked up the order the man at the register charged $10 more than the amount of the online order, and insisted my friend give him another tip. Very disappointed. Employees were extremely disrespectful. Couldn't get it together and just constantly talking bad about other employees. Being the only 2 guests in the building you would hope that the employees could take that conversation in the back. Floor is disgusting and then environment just feels dirty. Ordered the General Tsaos and it was good. Chicken fried rice was great. Egg roll was cabbage filled and a bit disappointing.

So I gave them another chance, after 5 months, and requested to not have my chicken cooked so hard, they did it anyway. Called them when my husband got home and told them the wings are hard, they told me "Maybe you need to buy your chicken somewhere else, because that's all we can do." Not only have they lost a long time customer for have such a nasty attitude about their jacked up chicken wings, but now I'm going to let everyone that reads this message know and everyone on every other review platform, that these people just want your cash, but don't give a crap about good customer service or righting a wrong. Sad that people come here to open a business, but don't care about the people they are servicing. So guess what China Garden, after at all these years, you have lost this customer and I hope someone informs you that a better attitude would of kept a customer, for other food not chicken, but now I will be taking my hard earned cash elsewhere. The only downsides to China Garden, the restrooms are kinda weird and it's a little pricey for the portions compared to other Chinese restaurants. If you like the americanized version of Chinese food, then this is a place for you. Good service and the food is always tasty. I've had a few things off the menu and haven't been disappointed. Beware, however, that the interior of the place isn't very nice - just order out and eat at home, because if you're looking for a beautiful restaurant, this place isn't that on the inside, but I promise, the food makes up for it. My family has eaten from here several times. The vegetarian meat dishes have nice seitan and good sauces. Veggies, especially broccoli, are on the mushy side. We like the food. Delivery is chronically late (usually over 1 1/4 hours). There is one younger woman who answers the phone who is rude and lies about orders. Lateness and rudeness mean it is challenging to feel good about the food. read more

What a fall from Grace. For years we went there as our regular Chinese Restaurant and tolerated the owner's behavior toward her employees because the food was so good. Last night was the straw that broke the camel's back. We sat in a section that had a new waitress and she was not trained that was very clear. The owner had no business putting an employee in that position. The owner was nasty to this employee and it was not the first time I have seen her be mean to her employees, but it is the last. I will not patronize a business that is incapable of treating their employees with respect. read more

The fellow that greeted me (and by greeted, I mean vigorously ignored me for about a solid minute while counting change) had all the charm and personality of a wet rag. Once seated the service was OK, just strange in a way in which words fail me. The food was OK if, perhaps, a bit on the lower end of the scale. Ingredients seemed relatively fresh, but for instance, the shrimp in the Singapore noodles were those super tiny kind like you'd find in a can. The Fried Pork Wonton was about 80% wonton and 20% pork and very dry. The overall flavor of the Singapore noodles was decent, but just seemed to be missing something, especially for the price. Finally, they have awards ALL over the walls. Let me tell you something... I seriously HATE those stupid Readers Choice awards that a lot of papers do. The "winner" is never the actual BEST restaurant, it's just the one people are MOST AWARE OF. Here, in Mt. Pleasant, a lot of those votes are cast by college kids who never venture more than two blocks from campus and therefore aren't qualified to vote on such matters. In almost EVERY category, the winners are laughable at best compared to other options nearby. SO, in my opinion, all these "awards" are absolutely MEANINGLESS. By far the best Chinese food in Mt. Pleasant. Average cost of a dish is about $10-$15 but totally worth it! Their Orange chicken is to die for and if you dine in they are always happy to give you more rice. Very large portions. We brought my granddaughter here while we were visiting her at the university. She has ordered takeout from here before and said she liked it a lot. Our meals were excellent. The fare was very authentic and skillfully prepared. The atmosphere is nicely casual. The service was impeccable. Our server was knowledgeable and prompt. There is a very large variety on the menu. The sticky rice dessert is a must try for anybody with a sweet tooth. We will definitely be back when we are in the area. My granddaughter says that this is one of her favorite places to eat. read more

Pleasant, and decided to try out China Garden as was actually surprised at how many animal-free choices they had on the menu. There was much more than just tofu dishes; lots of meat substitutes.
