A sign out front said lunch specials $6.99 but the menu said $7.99. They must have recently raised their prices. We were greeted by a very friendly proprietor. Dan ordered Mongolian beef and I got Kung Pau chicken. I had trouble deciding because the sweet and spicy eggplant. I love eggplant but don't often find it on menus. On the other hand, it's difficult to pass up the peanuts in the Kung Pau. Oh decisions. The egg roll was the best part of both dishes. It was extremely crisp and light. It's much better than egg rolls from other restaurants. My husband complained that his dish was too oily. I had him taste mine and he said it was too oily for his tastes, too. I'm more tolerant of oil than Dan is, but I'd say it was a bit more oily than Kung Pau I've had at other restaurants. The portions were slightly smaller than what I'm use to in other restaurants, but I left full and Dan asked for a to go box. I wish I could give 3.5 stars. That would better measure today's experience. It's difficult to measure being fair to the business and not misleading customers. I heard people talking about Lo Mein. Next time I will try that. I noticed you can get a side of Lo Mein for $3.99. This place is definitely worth a try. We are glad we did.

This restaurant is quaint. We stayed approximately 1 1/2 hours, taking our time enjoying each other. The staff was sweet and compassionate. The food was good but I didn't explore. My hubby assumed the Mongolia Beef would be spicier. He requested they add some chili spice... he was pleased with the result. I enjoyed the veggie stir fried rice. During the conversation I found out that they have vegetable tempura type tofu. So next time, I will give it a try.

This is where I go when I want solid Chinese food options in East Tulsa. This is an unsuspecting little space that is obviously dated and kind of run down. don't let that stop you from going inside to experience some VERY friendly folks who deliver amazing quality food. I get that some places go all out on decor and keeping it bright and shiny. Again, you won't find that here. I have to rave on though about the food and the service. The first few pages of the menu in my mind tell you about what they really do. Lots of pictures and food spelled out in english only. Flip to the second half and it's no longer english! That tells me they cater to a crowd of folks who want traditionally prepared and serve cuisine! You'll find some Szechuan and cantonese fair and I've yet to have a dish here that didn't blow my socks off! Hands down a great spot and one I'll keep going back to so long as the doors stay open!

My first visit to China Garden on 31st was yesterday evening. I was greeted by an elderly gentleman whom I assume was the owner and who was eating his supper and watching a show on his tablet. He was very polite and welcoming. As I had placed my order via Yelp he was expecting me since no one else was in the restaurant. Shortly after arriving and while waiting for my order two elderly Asian couples arrived. This made me very happy as it did the owner. They all carried on in their native language for a bit and sat down to order their food. These interactions are what I always look for when finding a new restaurant. I've traveled all over the world and this helps to identify a great choice in dining in most cases. One thing I usually do when traveling is to ask the owners or cooks to make me what they would eat for their meals to get the most authentic food possible. Will probably do this next time. Any way... Our takeout consisted of General Tso's Chicken, Dry Pot BOK Choy, Sichuan Tofu, Crab Wontons, and Veggie Spring Rolls. We also received a very spicy Sichuan Pork with Green Beans dish that we didn't order so, apologies to whoever might have been missing a meal. We were already home downtown when we discovered it. I must say I had very high hopes after reading several reviews. For the most part, I was satisfied with the overall freshness and flavors of the food. I do love how they don't over-Americanize their dishes. The General Tso's Chicken was very good with a sticky sauce and tender white meat chicken although I prefer a bit more spicy heat. Very good though. My wife had the Sichuan Tofu which she often gets from other places and I could tell she wasn't overly enthused although she said she might order it again. The wontons and spring rolls did not disappoint and were my favorite part bringing out the kid in me who is usually satisfied with a meal consisting of appetizers though I rarely do that nowadays. We initially ordered Dry Pot Cauliflower but they were out so we substituted BOK Choy. I must say I wasn't expecting just a container of Steamed BOK Choy in a clear sauce. It had no flavor and was just limp veg so it was not too appealing to me. The final dish which we don't order but received was the Sichuan Pork with Green Beans. We don't eat pork but I tasted/ate the green beans and was very impressed with the spicy heat I was looking for in my General Tso's! Too bad I couldn't eat the rest of the dish because the flavor of the sauce was my favorite of them all. All in all, I look forward to trying other dishes from China Garden and finding the ones I know I will like even better and that I know are there.

I am a supporter of local business my rating may be biased because of it. So one of the really good features of China Garden is the lunch special which is really cheap. I do feel they need to update the banner in the front because the lunch special is $7.99 now and the sign still says $6.99. The portion size is on the smaller side but I expected this because of the price. I love the sweet and spicy eggplant and would get the same thing if I go back. It's delicious. I always get dumplings especially when it says homemade. For the most part, I am happy with them. One of them is opened at the bottom. I am not sure when these were made but probably not on the same day. Wherever they got the chili oil, they need to find a different brand because there's a bitter taste. You definitely do not come here for the service. The owners are really nice people but service is slow. I am not sure what happened but they gave me chopsticks to eat with my plate. Maybe the chopsticks were for the dumplings but then they took it back when I asked for a fork. I didn't really understand what happened there.

Winnah winnah Chinese dinnah. Everything we had was fabulous!!! Dried pot ribs, beef chow fun, curried chicken and double fried Seabass. Drove all the way from Joplin, Mo. to Tulsa and found this gem of a Chinese restaurant. We shall return.

My new go-to Chinese spot in Tulsa county! I'm a huge fan of eggplant and theirs is fantastic! Also loved the bean sauce fish (just add a little bit of salt or soy sauce if you like a little saltier), and kung pao chicken was also solid but on the spicy side. Loooved the fresh hot sesame balls--they give you 10! Unpretentious but lovely atmosphere and great service

I enjoyed my flavorful chicken lomein. The egg drop soup portions were generous and some of the best I've ever had with carrots and peas. Definitely enough soup for at least two people. The wait was slightly longer than. they said it would be, but I could see they were working hard in there and had a long line. They were pretty friendly.

Our entrees were fresh and served piping hot. I mean, this is no buffet-style Asian food. This was a cook or more in the back throwing it together as ordered and that set a high bar. With that said, I really felt like the dishes needed more onions and peppers. My General Tao's came with two small green peppers and two small white onions. In my opinion, that dish needs chili peppers and should maybe be a third veggies. My wife's sweet and sour chicken had no veggies. In my opinion, it is served best with green peppers, onions, and pineapples. Look, that's all personal preference. I can't fault them for that but we were ever so slightly disappointed by that. The egg drop soup with a little thick for my preferred texture. Otherwise, the server was jovial and prompt. The food was tasty. The high price point and lack of veggies took it from five to four stars. I mean, you get what you pay for so I'm happy to return and I'll ask for more veggies and if they deliver, I'll amend to a five stars. Not bad for our first visit.

Wonderful food, delightful owners. Expect a no frills, in a strip mall Chinese restaurant. Then be wowed by the extensive, extremely varied menu. And they'll make it as hot/spicy, or not, as you want. The dry pots were recommended, but we didn't have much time. So we settled in with General Tso & Kung Pao. They were *really* good. Veges cooked to absolute perfection. We said we'd share a hot and sour soup. It was presented in a rather large bowl with dual table settings. Everything was piping hot. They offer a lunch menu at $6.50. Give them a try. We'll definitely be back!

If you're looking for authentic Chinese food - this is it! I was so happy to find vegan options too! I had the house tofu and cauliflower dry pot. The house tofu is not spicy, served in a broth with Chinese vegetables and is delicious! The dry pot was full of flavor and pretty spicy! I will absolutely order here again and probably the same thing. I suggest calling your order in for take out unless you choose to dine in. read more

I never review, but this hotel delivery was horrid... I wrote a note that we are in Aloft hotel, no plates, utensils; order came with dry dumplings, no dipping sauce, no rice at all for the General Tso chicken( usual breaded chicken with only a sweet brown sauce, nothing else, pure sugar, no flavor of ginger, nothing)..., dry pork and sliced peppers..talked to two different ladies there, no way to eat the food, and no rice ... second one hung up, saying I check... Rice and chopsticks came, food is now totally cold... $5 delivery( rice etc came fast, they are close), with tip $52 for crap... As I say I've never complained, but avoid this place...drove 10 hours to Tulsa, and got aggravated... worst food ever.I don't know how they have such good ratings... ZERO stars read more

This is probably the best authentic Chinese restaurant in Tulsa. I had them recommended to me by one of my physicians and hesitated way too long to try it because of their location. Best advice I can give you is not to trust me but go try it out for yourself. The owner and his wife are extremely friendly and helpful with their menu and discuss how they prepare their food with how other top end Chinese restaurants do it in New York. My only complaint is I wish they were closer to where I live because I would eat there more regularly than I already do. read more

This is a real authentic Chinese food restaurant in east Tulsa. Very friendly and helpful staff. Crab wontons and dumplings were amazing! Dry pot ribs were good - spicy too Beef noodles were a favorite of the group. There spicy chicken was very good and had ginger as part of the spices...a little salty but we polished it off. The twice cooked pork (pork belly) was good too. Overall this was a great experience and would highly recommend! read more

China Garden is a must, especially when you go to Tulsa, and you are craving good Chinese food. This is a hole in the wall restaurant on the Northside of Tulsa. My beautiful and gorgeous fiance and I decided to go there for one of our dates, and we know that this will not be the last time that we go to China Garden. We got the House Lo Mein, General Tso's, the appetizer dumplings, and the must-have when you go there are the Dry Pot Ribs. Y'all, the Dry Pot Ribs were terrific and were perfectly spiced (you can choose between three levels of spice, and we got a 2). These ribs were in a huge pot, and when they came, they were brought in a pot with the fire still under and slowly died out to give it an extra flare. The ribs were fall off the bone and had great seasoning. Everything we had there was great and is a must go. read more

This place was ok. Not really bad. The owner was very personable. I ordered a shrimp fried rice, cauliflower pot and egg drop soup to go. The cauliflower was good but swimming in oil. The fried rice was just ok. I would go back again just to try out some of the other items on the menu though. Hope this helps. read more

Food is very good! Best chinese food in Tulsa and probably one of the best that I have tried anywhere out of state. Food is freshly made and tastes authentic. They also have several options to choose from along with authentic chinese dishes. Owners are chinese which makes the food more promising to be authentic. I have tried several dishes and every dish has been delicious. Portions are a decent size as well for the price. You would not be disappointed trying this place out. read more

This is an easily looked over restaurant. From the outside and surrounding area you might pass by but my suggestion to you is stop and order something. The food is authentic and fantastic!! I am not from around here but I would eat here again and wish it was near my home. The service was great, fun and fast!! Really fast actually. This is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in Tulsa. I brought two exchange students from China to eat here, and they said it tastes like their mom's cooking. Super good and authentic food! They have traditional Chinese dishes and American styled Chinese dishes. I recommend the hand pulled noodles, spicy shredded potatoes, dried pot pork, sugar ribs, and the general tso's chicken. Order a lot of dishes for the whole table to share! The prices are very reasonable. The owners are also really friendly! I would recommend this restaurant to everyone. read more

I ordered the famous Spicy Boiled Fish. They used sea bass which is a pricy fish. And for $14.99 in a huge bowl with lots of fish and some cabbage, it was worthy of the price. The place is simple and clean. Plus great customer service. You definitely get what you'll pay for whatever you order. And a very authentic set of menu. I would go back to try all of their dishes. Needed a new Chinese place to eat after the Golden Dragon closed. This place had good reviews so decided to try it. Arrived around 2:30 and asked if the lunch specials were still available. Was advised they were. I ordered the pot stickers as an appetizer and house lomi Dennis ordered chicken fried rice and the pepper beef. I must say everything was absolutely delicious, presentation was great and service fast and friendly. So why 1 star? After we got home, Dennis was sicker than I've ever seen anyone with food poisoning. Since that was the main meal of the day and all we had had before that was toast and coffee, it was pretty clear this was the cause. I did not get ill, we figure the fried rice had set out too long from the lunch rush. So my recommendation is if you can eat here, don't eat late afternoon and don't order the fried rice. read more

I had yet another great meal at China Garden. I highly suggest the dumplings. Wonderful fried dumplings filled with pork, ginger and a little magic I think. I also tried the Garlic Vegetable Cole today. Sweet tiny Bok Choy in a luscious garlic sauce and steamed rice. Perfect on such a fine sunny day. Please try this place out, you won't believe what a gem we have here in Tulsa. If you're not sure what to order, ask Michael, the owner. Just tell him what you like and he always has a few great suggestions. Good food, good people, go Tulsa go! read more

Great place for authentic Chinese food! Had the spicy boiled fish and it had that great floral numbing flavor from the Sichuan peppercorns. Nice and garlicky too! The spicy fried chicken and fish were excellent tasting. Sweet and spicy eggplant was amazing! Cooked perfectly in a sweet and spicy sauce that was full of flavor. Now this is what AUTHENTIC Chinese food is! Wow! Awesome experience! If you like real authentic food, this is the place. This is not that Chinese buffet slop, this is real food. The menu is in Chinese. How awesome is that! I ordered kan poa chicken. It was great. The eggplant is a mushy gooey mess of absolute culinary mastery! I can't say enough good about this little hole in wall cultural excursion. I will be going back a trying the fermented fish! read more

Doesn't look like much, but dont let looks or location detour you. Girlfriend and I have eaten here several times now and this place has some surprisingly amazing food. Only mark against it is that it's located in kind a bit of a " less than desirable " area on 31st and the inside sit down area is kind of on par, so if you're not the adventurous type, then take out may be a better option for some. However the staff is very friendly and like I said, the food is fantastic so still highly recommend if you're looking for really good Asian food in Tulsa. read more

My first experience at China Garden makes me excited to return with more friends. Luckily, I came with a friend who likes to sample as much as possible so we went with three entrees and an appetizer (for lunch!), and it was great! The pot stickers come 8 in an order for just $4 so it's worth it. The ribs dry pot is served in bowl on a little pedestal with a fire underneath. We both agreed that any item that comes in a special plate like this is worth getting. The crunchy chili sauce in it is spicy without being overpowering. The bite-sized ribs are tender with a nice crispness on the outside. The seabass is also very tender and the sauce it comes in is slightly sweet, a little spicy, and pairs with it perfectly. Lastly, the braised pork belly is mixed with roasted potatoes that are amazing when eaten in the same bite. The mild sauce tastes soy based with a slight sweetness, it's a good flavor combination. The rice could be a little more tender, maybe it just wasn't as fresh it it could have been. Overall, I'd recommend any of the dishes we ordered. There are a number of things on the menu I can't wait to try and the service is very friendly, so I'll be sure to return. Come here with an adventurous mind and order something other than the typical Americanized Chinese dishes like fried rice or sesame chicken - you'll be glad you did. read more

The food here is fresh, great variety on the menu. We had curry chicken, pork rib dry pot (spicy!! Roasted peppers), and the house combo lao mein. It was all so beautifully flavored. The use of ginger was subtle and a welcome surprise. It's a great find in a strip mall!!! The owners are very nice and we plan to go back when we drive through Tulsa again. read more

As an Asian American, this restaurant was bizarre. For one, I've never heard of cheese wontons and I was extremely surprised at the popularity. Moreover, I've heard that there is such a thing as cauliflower hot pot. Never heard of it. But all in all, the food was not bad at all, just really interesting dishes that I've never seen or heard of. The last thing I would like to note is that the foods are okay, they are not the best, but given the location and everything, the food is decent for its price point. This is place is your go to if you're really craving Chinese food and you don't know how to make it yourself. read more

Got carry out for the family. This was our first time using China Garden. Did not give us enough rice for the 7 of us. Food was just real average and the portions were small. $90 seems like it should get you plenty of food for 4 adults and 3 kids. read more

Panda Express is so-so. We tried China Garden last month for the first time, it was very good! So it is now our go-to place when we are hungry for Chinese food. Food tasted fresh and well-seasoned! read more

China Garden serves relatively new, very authentic Chinese food in Tulsa, and as such, has all the hallmarks of the real deal: Located in a sketchy little strip mall on the East side of Tulsa. Has family working as servers(inexperienced, language barrier). The owner, however, is great; if he's waiting on you, things will go well. Not afraid to heat up the spiciness of the dishes(can be adjusted when ordered). With these expectations in mind, be prepared for amazing food. The double cooked pork(H2) is outstanding. Do not pass it up. You will not find the standard "This is What's Wrong With America, Chinese Food" here. This is the good stuff, that most Americans have not experienced. It's time to fix that. I was delighted to see the Stir Squid(T15), it had a lovely broth, and subtle flavor. The Spicy Cumin Lamb(T4) has an amazing flavor and per it's name, is very spicy. I make the trip from midtown Tulsa, out East almost once a week at this point, just to eat at China Garden. If you've not been yet, make plans to check it out right away. read more

I went on the recommendations of several of my close friends and acquaintances. They mention key words like hot, spicy, salty, very tasty, no msg! That was enough to perk my interest and get my digestive juices flowing in my stomach and salivating in my mouth. I thought of Szechuan style food I had from friends who were good cooks and back home in Singapore where the Szechuan cuisine was considered fine dining! The fish in a pot was cooked w white cabbage and the flesh was so tender. The spicy cumin lamb was cooked w lots of dried red peppers and onions - very tender and delicious. The eggplant was everyone's favorite. The salt and pepper shrimp came with large shrimp in shell. This was not seasoned well so It did not meet my expectations. The 1st 2 times I had the steak and my husband had the ham sandwich (I know... he's a sandwich man... but it's seriously good). Last night I took 2 of my girlfriends for dessert. One is gluten free so we got the lava cake. Kale, who was my waiter for our 1st visit, was our waiter again. He remembered my name and my husband's name! He also remembered me asking about a GF menu for my friend. He is so warm and inviting and kind-- I'm not sure Rise knows how lucky they are to have him! If I didn't like the food, I might still go based on service and atmosphere alone. But let me tell you.... The food is divine. Kale genuinely cares that people have a stand-out impression of the place. And we all did! My friends are both so excited to go back and now understand why I keep raving about it! Be back soon!

It's been a long time since I've put up a Yelp review, but this experience was worth posting about. My wife and I re-located from Virginia to Oklahoma to take care of family, and we have struggled in finding a good Chinese restaurant in Tulsa, up until our dine here. Last night, we dined at China Garden--- and let me tell you-- it did not disappoint! Easily the best Dan Dan Noodles we've had in Tulsa--- but everything was incredibly delicious, and fresh. As noted by other Yelpers, it does take a bit for food to arrive, but a complete non-issue for us. All of their food is made from scratch, and well worth the wait. The owner is incredibly hospitable, and kind--- you can tell he's proud of his business, and rightfully so. If you're in the mood for outstanding Chinese Food in Tulsa, do not hesitate in going here. read more

So, I lived in China several years ago, and I have to say this place has fantastic Chinese food. It's as authentic as you are going to get in Tulsa. The food has that great, rich flavor I remember so well. If you want to try Chinese cuisine similar to what is actually served in the China check this place out. Or if you just want some great food, this place is worth a try. Heads up: This food is not like the bland, greasy stuff on China Buffets. It's lighter and way more delicious. If you've got a thing about spicy food, let the staff know because the food might run a little hot for you. It's best if you treat this place family style: Go with friends, order your dishes, and share. read more

Best Chinese food hands down in OK. Recommend the Spicy Fish Soup with Tofu. Amazing! The owners are always friendly and provide a great meal. I have eaten much Chinese food and this is authentic Szechuan cuisine, they will tailor the spiciness to your liking and I like it HOT! Other great dishes, the Stir Fry Cole (greens), Spicy Cabbage, thin-sliced beef, Beef Noodles, and Fried Sesame balls- all are awesome! Our friend recommend this place to us, last night my wife and I went to China Garden , the dining room was full when we got there around 7 PM , that is a good sign, the waitress is very friendly , she got us drink and took our order , their service is very fast and efficient , we got our food on the table in no time, we order Boiled Fish, Sweet and Spicy Eggplant and Stir Squid, the food is very tasty and fresh, we really enjoyed our meal pretty much. read more

China Garden is one of a few best authentic chinese food restaurants in Tulsa, they can serve some traditional chinese food and certain types of food in different region with their own food culture in China. I recommend you to try every one, you will find some food really delicious. read more

Staff is very friendly and helpful. The food; was done quickly, tasted wonderful, and can be seasoned/spiced to taste. I ordered a small eggdrop soup and received a bowl other places would classify as large. Would recommend to friends and will be here again. read more

Tried my hardest to get someone on the phone for over an hour to place a delivery order, if you're busy or closed for an emergency, it's simple customer service for putting a system in place to take care of that. read more
