The China guan bing food truck is usually hanging around outside my building near Jackson Ave, making for a super convenient snack or light lunch. Classical guan bing and Classical kao leng mian are both excellent - definitely will be back soon!

Barely any meat on the duck

My girlfriend and I ordered the roast duck rice bowl for $15 and were severely disappointed. It's 80-90% bone and thin pieces of meat here and there. No utensils were provided either in the bag and he didn't ask if we needed them so we had to visit another food place to ask for them. DO NOT ORDER THIS. This is a new item on their menu and I'm guessing they use most of the shaved roast duck on the actual guan Bing and are trying to shave costs by selling the leftover meat on bone.

Passed by this food truck a few times in LIC and finally got to try it. It's like a scallion pancake wrap but without the scallion. I wanted to get the bing with fried oyster mushrooms but it was sold out. I got the duck and classic instead. Inside has lettuce, egg, cucumber and duck, and the classic had veggies, Chinese sausage, egg and lettuce. Each has different seasoning, the classic had a very strong cumin flavor and the duck tastes like a usual duck bun with sweet and salty black bean sauce. Also, had the okonomiyaki kao leng mian, like a okonomiyaki but with something inside, couldn't figure it out, and they make it bite sized though. Gotta eat it fresh so the bing doesn't get soggy and stays crispy. Because we took it to go it wasn't as crispy, and got all soggy at the bottom. It's a very saucy meal but tasty! Give it a try!

Just moved to the area a few days ago, and have walked past this truck every day since but always passed on it because I had no idea what it was. They don't have any pictures of the items and I've never heard of any of the dishes on the fine-printed menu taped on the side of the truck. But, I after reading the few reviews on here I decided to give it a try. The food tastes pretty good. I got the classic guan bing (which is presented like a burrito/wrap that has an egg wrap base with beansprouts and carrots filling, egg, and a tiny sausage. I expected it to be oozing with flavor or at least have some sauce in it, but there isn't any; however it isn't bland though. Just a little oily since its fried. I also got the okonomiyaki kao leng mian, which definitely had more flavor from the sauce that was sprayed on it. It's just like the japanese dish with the flakes and mayo sauce in between a few small rolls of thin wide noodles and egg. One would think it's pricey but the portions are surprisingly pretty filling. I had to wait 20 minutes because there were a lot of back orders and only two workers. It's definitely worth a try at least once!

    Sweet BBQ pork with rice

Close to queens plaza subway. Small menu, friendly service. Sweet BBQ pork with rice and bok choy is delicious.

Their chicken sandwich is highly recommended. We love the flavor and the fact that the ingredients are always fresh.

And if you haven't had Birria-Landia or birria in general, well, you'll probably still like them! Casa Birria is a simple food truck with a simple menu of just a few items. I noticed they have a few meat options but assuming you eat beef, you of course have to get the birria (slow-cooked beef in a slightly spicy and indulgent broth). It comes in multiple vehicles which are all basically some configuration of tortilla, onions, cilantro, meat, and sometimes cheese depending on what you pick. The taco is the classic and the $12 taco combo is a nice deal, though as a smaller eater and cheese-lover, I personally go for a couple of mulitas. Juicy meat with a bit of heat, melty cheese, and legit corn tortillas soaked in that delicious broth, what's not to love? The truck is open pretty late, has fast straightforward service, and like any truck does not have seating so you have to either eat on the sidewalk or have a place in mind to bring it; there is a park a few blocks up. Definitely cheaper than most meals in this part of the city and I'd be a regular if I lived close by!

Mexican Food Cart…read more The cutest little food cart. Prime location at 86th and Second Avenue. He opens daily at 9:30am my favorite time for brunch! The price is right, he's efficient, clean and there's plenty of room for social distancing while you wait for your food. The trouble is when I went today it was a different guy. I said give me extra beans because I didn't want meat and leave off tomatoes because I'm allergic. Well in addition I didn't find any grated cheese, it's like a cheese powder on it, and he said he puts guacamole on top but he didn't. The good news I'm full and it was cheap and fast. I don't plan to return though. It's a cute cart but not that cute! It's not good when you get to the location where you plan to eat and find your food isn't up to par. Maybe you will have better luck.

And why not? The food here is fresh, fast, tasty, and quite affordable. The vegetarian tacos are my thing, while my gal enjoys their burritos. Nice people working the cart, and it's a good thing to support a hard working small biz like this. Dammit - now I want a taco and it's after midnight. Guess I'll wait until tomorrow and dream about them.

I have been here a couple times and I mistook it for another popular Food Cart farther South. Today I returned to buy a muffin. After I got back home I realized that the windows where the muffins were displayed looked different from my last visit. Did he change carts? I'm not sure. I'm sorry I didn't pay closer attention. I'm wondering if the city can have different carts approved for the same spot on the sidewalk but they sell on different days of the week. (I hope that statement makes sense.) Today I purchased a muffin to freeze. The price was $2.00 which is the most I've ever paid for a street cart muffin. I'm going back another time to check out this cart.
