This place is still my favorite Chinese in Baton Rouge. They make the Beef and broccoli the same as back in Memphis. I opted to add more onions and carrots. I love this place. Since I reviewed this Chinese restaurant much time has passed--actually so much time that the folks who currently run this restaurant are different from the ones who ran it when I initially went here. That's good and bad as the former owners did a pretty good job however the current owners are doing their best to make this restaurant at the same or higher level than before---recently I have ordered lo mein and chicken with broccoli---both are on par with the prior owners. Also I have had the (bad or unhealthy) habit of getting f shrimp toast---this fried appetizer remains tasty and greasy (hence tasty). I need to order some of the more expensive or variety dishes and look forward to that in future visits---triple dragon, seafood delight, etc. overall, I still recommend this location if you want some of that small Chinese takeout restaurant food---its yummy! read more

This is a great local spot to get your Chinese fast food fix. The staff is kind and very hard-working, and the food is always excellent. We always do takeout, and I like that they've added an online ordering option. I do wish the menu was a little easier to navigate but that's generally the challenge when places have such huge menus. For those dining in, everything is always clean but try not to expect any "ambiance," as the decor is all pretty basic. There are a couple other Chinese spots closer to us but we make the slightly longer drive here every time! Definitely worth it! read more

The food was really good and a very good amount for your money's worth the only thing was that the boneless spare ribs were cooked a little hard than I'm usually use to for me but was still real good. Another wonderful dinner from China House One on Coursey Boulevard. I was craving vegetables in a Oriental sauce with pork. Although they give you a fair amount of vegetables in the regular size container, I had gotten a large/quart, I was in a SUPER veggie mood - so asked them to include loads of every vegetable they had except for mushrooms. It's odd, I actually like mushrooms in other dishes but I don't like it in my Asian food for some reason. Anyway, you can opt to pay $1 or $2 for them to add additional vegetables which is what I asked for this time around. The container was so jam-packed it barely closed. As always I had to get an order of crab rangoon. I am convinced that they make the absolute best crab rangoon in Baton Rouge. The pods are stuffed to the gills with really yummy filling, they're piping hot and very crispy. The pork with mixed vegetables was delicious. I have enough for lunch and dinner tomorrow too. I've ordered from here several times previously and it has always been ok. My last order was hunan beef. Every single piece of beef was impossible to break down with 1000 chews. There was not one edible piece of meet in the dish. I called to make them aware and they questioned me like I have never eaten food before. All I requested was a refund for the next time I ordered. Fast, fresh and super tasty. I am never disappointed with the food here. It was ready to go when I arrived about 10 minutes later. On the menu tonight was egg drop soup, chicken teriyaki and sautéed string beans. My son thoroughly enjoyed the sesame chicken that was piping hot, and my daughter was not at all unhappy with her Chinese favorite--chicken and broccoli. My friend was telling me how much she enjoyed Singapore Noodles and that the best she's had was at a place on Coursey. I looked up a few places, but found this gem and it had 5 stars. I read a few reviews and was pleased pleased to give them a try. I called my order in and the process was quick and easy. They told me that my food would be done in 15 minutes, the restaurant is 20 minutes away from my home; so I left my house immediately. I drove up, and the food was ready to be picked up, no wait time, and the lady that handed me the order was so sweet. She had the biggest smile when I came into the door. On the ride back home, I was snacking on the crab Rangoon. It was more salty than I am accustomed to...I should have said yes to the sweet and sour sauce. It would have complemented the Rangoon perfectly. When I got home, I rushed to the table to jump into the noodles ...they were so flavorful! I could taste the curry, fresh veggies, and the spicy level was nice, but I could use a bit more. But above all, it was a nice heaping bowl of noodles and I enjoyed every bite! I recommend that you give them a try! They were a distance away from me, but I would travel that route again for more noodles when I have a craving. read more

$5.25 for a lunch special that comes with a drink is not bad at all. The food was fresh, didn't take long to cook and the portions are huge. I ordered the sesame chicken and pork fried rice lunch special with an egg roll. I'll pass on the egg roll next time because there wasn't much flavor and the rice seemed to be lacking vegetables and pork. The chicken was pretty decent. Especially of the quick take-outs that have the large menu above the counter. However, this particular China House is top notch. I have been going here for Lunch for about a year and they maintain consistent quality every time. I generally order the General Tso chicken or their sweet & sour which are both amazingly cooked. I'm not sure what is is about these guys but they do it right. Not to mention their lunch special is about as cheap as it gets. It's 4.95 for a very large take-home meal and a drink.
