Cheng's Chinese Restaurant was excellent. The food was very authentic, and when I met the owner he told me it wasn't like typical Chinese buffet food -- he was 100% correct. Holy smokes! Run don't walk down here! Don't let the location fool you. The hostess and server were so nice. As my wife said "one look at the designs on the plate and you know you were in a legit place." The food was hot and fresh. I got the plate above Kung Pao Chicken because I like spicy. Paired with the fried rice and a Lucky Buddha Beer (another recommendation by the staff) sent me over the moon! It was 8 pieces of meat and the smallest serving of rice. $20 for kids size and I'm not a big eater! I called to let them know there may have been cross contamination for the chicken. Chengs has delivered to my office a few times, and each time the food is pretty on point for a Chinese restaurant. I didn't particularly love the sesame chicken, there was something about the sauce, but the General Tso was great. The spring rolls are pretty small compared to other area places, but they had a little punch of flavor. The egg drop soup was healingly delicious - it's the best thing when you're just not feeling well. The gentleman who delivers is super friendly, and they are always ahead of the scheduled delivery service. I have yet to visit in person, but hope to soon. read more

I ordered through my jobs food delivery program. I had the General Tso lunch portion. The portion size was perfect and the food was flavorful. I do wish I was able to get the chicken spicy. That may be the case if I ordered directly from the restaurant but through the Major Menus service, alterations will not be honored. My husband and I decided to give Cheng's a try after someone highly recommended it following a review I wrote for Hunan's; we knew instantly this place was going to be a new favorite.  I was so impressed, I suggested Cheng's to my friend group. I called ahead to let them know 10 ladies would be descending on them for lunch. When we arrived, they had a room all set up and took excellent care of everyone. THE FOOD! It is all so fresh, cooked to order, and delicious. Our group has been visiting local restaurants once a month for almost two years, and several ladies said Cheng's was their favorite spot so far. What sets Cheng's apart are Mr. and Mrs. Cheng themselves. It is clear they deeply care about both their customers and the quality of the cuisine. Mr. Cheng enjoys walking around visiting with his guests, making sure everyone is happy. Much like his uncle Jeffrey Cheng did when he was still with us and running Hunan's. When you walk into this cozy restaurant, you will see a large photo of the Cheng family on the wall dated 2001. In it you'll find Mr. Jeffrey with his signature big smile, and in the back row, a younger Mr. and Mrs. Cheng holding their son, who is now all grown up and a doctor.  If you haven't yet, I encourage you to pay a visit to Cheng's for kind, personal service, and exceptional food. read more

I read many positive reviews before dining here. The first time we went, I got an authentic dish called " ants climbing trees". Our waitress told me that these specific noodles are chewy. The noodles had a sauce and small pieces of ground pork clinging to the noodles. I liked this dish Eventhough the thin noodles were a bit difficult to chew. The flavors were very good. They have home made eggrolls that are served with a duck sauce with a small dollop of hot mustard ( it's super spicy). The next time we go, we will ask the staff to omit the mustard. Their dumplings are very flavorful and have a soy sauce dipping sauce. We enjoyed all of the appetizers... especially the egg rolls! One eggroll is served if you want two , it's of course double the price. Most Chinese restaurants we have been to usually will have two eggrolls in a serving . Just be aware of this. The atmosphere is relaxing and the the set up is nice. A partition with colored changing lights behind floral cut outs adds class to the dining area. The green tea is my choice of drink. The servers are helpful and very nice. I'm so glad that we found Chang's. The owner has been in the restaurant business for many years. He is calm and he will come around to check on diners and will chat with you when you engage him in conversation. Don't take my word for it. Try It for yourself!. read more

What a great surprise! Chengs blew my mind. I ordered the eggplant with Kung Pao sauce and added shrimp. The combo came with miso soup and an egg roll. I added the large hot sake since it was a tough day. I wasn't expecting a whole lot, but it was amazing. My server was very nice and explained everything very well. The location is a little hard to get to if you use Apple Maps. However, I would consider the location convenient because it's right off the highway. The dining room is cozy and intimate. The service was excellent! The owner came to check on us several times, which was nice. The food is amazing! A nice presentation and a pretty impressive kick on the spicy dishes! The only downsides that I can think of are: 1) the dining room is uncomfortably hot. I was wearing a tank top and shorts, and I felt on the brink of dripping sweat. 2) the dining room is eerily quiet. The TV had a show on but no sound and there is no music or anything playing in the background. Overall a great dining experience with a pleasant atmosphere! read more

First time coming here and the food was great! We had the shrimp dumplings which tasted fresh and you can tell they were homemade. The crab rangoon had a ton of filling inside! Walnut shrimp and general tso chicken were also yummy. The owner came by and talked to us. He was very sweet. We will definitely be back to try other things on the menu :) read more

The Chinese food here was very very good when we dined Saturday night. And considering that the restaurant was 80% or more occupied when we were there plus the number of to geaux orders, I suspect others agree with my assessment. And the dine in experience is only enhanced when the manager/owner speaks to you and is attentive to your dining experience which was also duplicated by our server. So, yes, this was a good evening. We arrived shortly after 6:00 p.m. and were seated. Like many restaurants when you walk in there is a board which contains either daily specials and/or suggested dishes and this establishment was no different----the first dish listed was the beef chow fun----only 1 place in Baton Rouge serves this and that establishment appears to have cooks and/or cooking style from northern China as opposed to the Hong Kong/Canton area which contains the best chefs and most tasty food. We order this and it was prepared more Cantonese style and hit the right spot---it was a little greasy but not enough for it to impact me. I am glad it was listed on the board. Our 2nd dish was a fried fish fillet served on top of the white thin noodles----sorta like ramen noodles ---with a honey flavored sauce. Again, another winner with no fish taste and a strong enough (but not too strong) honey flavor. Yes, very good. Our last dish we initially thought to order the pork belly but our server suggested a different dish which was similar to the pork belly but a different area of the pig. Another winner. We will return here as I am thrilled to know that Baton Rouge has another option for Chinese food. Yum yum. read more

Nom nom. I am hardly ever on this side but I kept hearing about this place so I had to come try it. We got there right after the lunch rush so we were promptly seated and greeted. Standard Chinese fare with several unique dishes as well. Both dishes we ordered were fresh and tasty. The fried rice was surely on top of the list of one of the best fried rice dishes I have had.
