Their lunch specials are great, less expensive than the exact same entrees with only marginally less food. I really enjoyed my lunch special from here. I got the salt and pepper shrimp with the shrimp fried rice. The food was awesome! The service was fast and friendly. The restaurant was full of customers waiting on their order, but everyone was in good spirits, and the kitchen was cranking the orders out. My only complaint was the portion size. I've never had Chinese takeout I could eat in one setting until I had China 1. So, while it was good, it was a little light for the price. China One is an easy to like American-Chinese Restaurant located just off Government Street at the end of a strip mall. To get there just turn onto Community College Drive and go to the last right exit into the shopping center. They have an extensive menu which is the same as many other American-Chinese restaurants in our area. It includes all your familiar favorites, as well as many things you should try out. The prices are really reasonable, and the portions are generous, and who doesn't like that combination? Speaking of combinations, that's one of my favorite sections of the menu. These include fried rice and an egg-roll in addition to the entree. Other menu favorites are the soups (which you can get as a quart), and the noodles. The Mei Fun noodle dishes are great with their tiny tasty noodles, try the Singapore Mei Fun for a curry and shrimp based delight. The Lo Meins have a thicker heartier noodle in a dark sauce. Due to the recent pandemic, China One has converted to a take-out only service. This works well, as few people actually used their small dining area anyway. My advice is to call in to make your order, and then start driving over there. Pretty much everything you order will be ready in ten min. You can then take your meal home, back to work, or alternatively drive the few blocks to the nearby BREC Goodwood Park and eat at one of their nice picnic tables. read more

The food is delish! The waitress / counter person was nice but definitely unschooled in her knowledge of the menu. I asked about the pancakes that came with the moo shu shrimp. She tried to tell me there were no pancakes until I pointed it out to her. She checked and I was right (duh!) so 10 minutes later I'm driving with my food back to my store (currently they are only doing to-go). I get back to the store and I open my food and it's wonderful. The pancakes are perfect. The food is delish and huge. I was stuffed. The fried veggies with the shrimp, the hoisin sauce in a to-go cup and the pancakes were all perfect. I just wish I could have eaten there. I hate the to-go thing. Oh well, The food was perfect which is why I'm still giving it 5 stars. read more

I think I just would've wanted more of a selection of food. They don't have a lot of options, and I didn't think the options were all the impressive. It's a buffet, there should be more options. Now, I was craving THIS type of Chinese buffet food because it reminded me of the buffet close to my college, and I was missing college life. So I'd say their food was better for my soul than how it actually tasted. I would go here again if I was in the neighborhood and missed that college Chinese buffet feel. The servers and service, however, are 5/5, the people working here are such sweethearts and made me feel special. I'd say it's up to you if you want to see what they have. Honestly, this restaurant is a hidden GEM!!! They give you SOOO much food, and the price is really great. It's always enough for two, and I like to eat a lot. They are fast. You don't even need to call ahead. You can just go in, and they will have your order ready quickly. The man at the counter is always so kind. Everyone in the kitchen works very hard. Some of the worst Chinese takeout I've ever had! Two stars for covid measures and fast service (takeout only window). My general tso chicken tasted only like garlic and sugar. The fried rice was like steamed rice with yellow food coloring. The egg roll was flavorless and mushy and the egg drop soup was flavorless and salty. It had an aftertaste of dish water and it was the same for my Wonton soup. The wonton had a rotten meat taste after you bite into them and there was not a thick chunk of meat like I am use to, but instead a slimy meat particles that looked grinded. It was disgusting!! I just moved to Louisiana about a month ago and I decided today that I will be adventurous and try my first Chinese Food ever in the south! Of course I was a little hesitant at first because I didn't know what to expect since I hail from the Bay Area in California where authentic flavors of ethnic foods always leave me watering for more. At the same time, I expected the Chinese food in China One to be a typical Americanized chinese restaurant. So instead of ordering my usual Mongolian Beef, I tried the General Tso Chicken and Pork Fried Rice. I opened up my to go box and there were so much chicken!!! They definitely have good portions but there were two things that I immediately noticed. One, there were only 2 broccolis and second, my pork fried rice was straight up yellow!!!! Like neon yellow! I never had my rice look like that before and I first thought it was corn fried rice which then it didn't make any sense to me. (I checked for corn and there was none!) The General Tso chicken was REALLY good because it had the crunch, the sauce, and the tenderness of the chicken! It was definitely better than what I expected. AND The price was AMAZING. My to go box came out to be $4.31 because it was the lunch special!!! I will definitely come here again and probably ask for more broccoli. =D read more

I decided to try out China one for dinner based on a friend's recommendation. I ordered the crab rangoons, fried dumplings, sesame chicken, sesame shrimp, and human beef, and all were tasty. The appetizers were our favorite as the entrees didn't have enough of their sauce. Also, the food lacked salt across the board. By far just had the WORST experience at China One located on government street and advising my followers to please seek other Chinese establishments . I want to make sure I am being politically correct as I am aware of today's racial climate. Let's start from the beginning, I was calling for about 30 minutes (call log shows) to place a to go order and phone was completely disconnected. Normally I would have picked somewhere else to eat but since being pregnant my baby chooses my food for me. Anyone that knows me, whether you like me or not I'm a very patient person to say the least. However I still drove there to place an order. Upon arriving there were two gentlemen already standing outside, a gentlemen walking up and a young lady walking up. The worker passed by the window several times without acknowledging me to see whether I needed to place an order or not. Once the second gentleman walked up he approached him and than walked away again. By the looks of it they were busy internally but it still doesn't give you the right to provide horrible customer service. Anyone that's knows me or follows me on Facebook I NEVER SPEAK NEGATIVELY PUBLICLY ABOUT ANYTHING. The young lady noticed it was a long line and he was ignoring customers she decided to place an order over the phone. You can hear through the window him being loud, arrogant and rude. As he walked up again to the window she approached him and said I wanted to add another order of chicken to my plate. He tells her "NO" and begin to ask the gentleman who arrived after me what would he like? I informed him that I had been waiting before them and still haven't placed an order. Now at this point I'm taking a break from classes and work on top of being pregnant so I'm PISSED. After I told him I had been waiting first he ignored me, the guy who arrived after me and the young lady who requested an additional piece of chicken. He proceeded to take the next person in life after ALL OF US. Here is my problem, CHINA ONE you displayed lack of decency and professionalism when it came to dealing with customers, your workers which I'm pretty sure have no communication or culturalism training and the ability to work in a fast paced environment when it comes to the food/customer service industry. More than half of your reviews, current and former customers are of color. Just a few weeks ago every Chinese restaurant I went into greeted and showed hospitality due to the Stop Chinese/Asian campaign. Knowing that you treat your customers like this I will never go back again. Black people we give oriental business our money and get horrible treatment. I can't tell you how many people who heard the commotion still orders as they walked up (majority did leave though.) Copious amounts of crispy vegetables, big shrimp, maybe not overflowing with shrimp but I thought it all worked out just fine. Love their fried rice too. Always quick service. Avoid the egg rolls. This is your typical, regular Chinese food place. If your looking for decent, predictable version of the dish you're craving, you should go here. Most dishes I've had have been perfectly cooked with fresh ingredients. The only thing I won't order again is beef because it was tough- but that's to be expected when the price is so low.
