The food was kinda meh. The service was not the best, they weren't rude or pushy, they just seemed very unqualified to serve food.

DISGUSTING. Decor is gloomy. Chairs are so old I sat, and fell into the dark place. I could feel every inch of the 4 springs by buttocks rested on. The waitress was nice. Thats all the positive I can give this place. I ordered Fried rice and boneless spare rib tips. Nothing special about the rice. The ribs though.......that was well seasoned card board. The meat was so tough I had a hard time swallowing. I fought to eat but after about 10 minutes I was over it. Trashed it! Never going back. So horrible my brain wouldn't let me remember I visited. Had lunch here again for the second time in two days. The food here is great. Today I enjoyed Szechuan Chicken, Garlic Spare Rib Tips and Hot & Sour Soup. The Szechuan Chicken is spicy but I asked for extra spicy because that's the way I like it and that's exactly how it came. The Garlic Rib Tips are wonderful. The beef is a little crispy in the edges. YUMM! The Hot & Sour soup was mild and very nice. The food here is rich and full of flavor with fresh vegetables like Mushrooms, Celery, Broccoli & Carrots and other ingredients like Tofu. The prices are very reasonable. I don't make it through Cedar Rapids often but China Inn will always be a lunch or dinner stop for me when I am in town. I suggest you stop by as well. Just got my 3rd delivery from this restaraunt...LOVE it! Food is not only quick...but hot....let me break it down my brothers! Shrimp Eggrolls-hot...good size...loved them. fried Wonton-meh....good...krispy-I want more. Shrimp Spring Roll-Awesome....'nuff said. Roast Pork w/Sweet and sour sauce-pretty damn good-use couple of shots of Frank's Hot sauce on them... Sweet and sour Sauce-love it...they freak when I order 6 or 8 of them with my small order.But they keep.They work great in my homade BBQ sauce....IF there is ANY left over.I mix some of the soy sauce packets in the sweet and sour and pour it over what I ordered for delivery...nuke it a few seconds...workes great! Always Amazing!!! China Inn is always our first choice for Chinese in Cedar Rapids! Every single time it's hot, fast, and delicious with lots of choices on the menu! Not to mention, reasonably priced! Both their 1st Ave. and 16th Ave. locations consistently provide the same amazing service and food! They also deliver. The owners recognize me whether I call in an order to go or just stop by, and they remember my kids favs and my favs! While attending a local truck driving school, I ate at China Inn on 16th Ave SW three times in 3 weeks. The food is very good. I like that I can ask for some customization (e. g. they have Kung Pao Chicken on the menu, and they allowed me to order Kung Pao Beef). It wasn't as spicy as I like it even having requested extra spicy, but it was still excellent food. The fried rice is very good. The egg rolls are just like any other egg rolls, nothing special, but I was able to get some sweet & sour sauce with some hot mustard to go with. The service is nice. The restaurant is a small family owned restaurant, and you get very personal and friendly service. It's not the best Chinese restaurant I've been to, but over all, it is good food and great service. read more

Absolutely disgusting!!!!!! I ordered online. Delivery was quick and I was excited to eat my food. I was eating my crab Rangoons. (I think.....There's no crab.) Got to the bottom of the bag and found a used napkin. YES!!!! A used napkin. Wtf. I opened the rest of the food, just to see what other surprises there may or may not be. Not only is most of the food not what I ordered. It is all room temperature, super odd looking and maybe, possibly microwaved. My wings were what I ordered but were rock hard, stuck together?????(don't ask, I don't understand either) and also room temperature. YUCK! I paid $30.00 for something people would only eat on a dare. Yelp should have a star below 1 and it should be a black death star. Stands for : eat here if you would like to ingest unknown substances and lose 10lbs from crapping your brains out all night due to food poisoning. I did not call to complain. I don't want anything to do with this place. Gross. Used to eat here all the times and it was fantastic. For the past year or so the quality has gotten lower and lower. After a really LONG day of driving over 700 miles, we stayed in Cedar Rapids and ordered some Chinese and we were very very glad that we did......the wonton soup was actually made from a nice stock and not just wontons tossed in canned chicken broth. My husband was ECSTATIC with his mongolian beef, it was melt your brain hot and spicy and he rarely gets that much spice (i refrained from tasting it) but he loved it. I would have given them 5 stars but the egg rolls were mostly just excess wrappers with minimal stuff inside, neither of us ate the egg rolls after the first bite. They deliver !!! read more

I discovered this place when I moved to Cedar Rapids 4 years ago. It's reminiscent of East Coast Chinese food. I love their egg rolls with the crispy, bubbly skin and their boneless spareribs are delicious. The shrimp in lobster sauce is also a favorite as is the shrimp lo mein and broccoli beef. I have to say that the best thing is the pork fried rice, it's addictive. I love the fact that they deliver, especially in the winter. Chicken is low quality weird chewy square pieces. Delivery took a long time and driver was obviously on a lot of drugs when he delivered it. Does not have my recommendation. read more

If I could, I would probably give this 3.5 stars instead of just 3. As far as Chinese food goes, it's not the greatest I've ever had (I'm originally from Illinois where there are some really good Chinese restaurants the closer you get to the suburbs/Chicago) but for Cedar Rapids, it's on the better end. I got chicken with cashew nuts, an eggroll, and a small order of fried rice. The fried rice was actually pretty good once you added the soy sauce, but the eggroll was the star. Certainly not the greatest, but certainly far better than Hy-Vee's or Eggroll House. While the cashew chicken was slightly disappointing (not overly so, it's just prepared different than how I'm used to) it did come in a generous portion and even in a reusable container. Prices were average and there is an option to order online from their site, which is a nice touch. The location isn't bad, although it isn't overly fancy and could be easily missed. I will definitely be making this my Chinese restaurant of choice for the Cedar Rapids area...at least until I find something better. Their menu is pretty extensive, so I'm sure I can find something on it that I like. read more
