I love a restaurant that grants your reasonable wishes! They always accommodate me when i want to add something else to a dish or take away. The food is always fresh and taste consistent. For a while I was in search of a Chinese takeout that provided the best chicken and broccoli. If you order this dish at most Chinese takeout restaurants they give you "chicken" and because of the taste it leaves you wondering whether you truly had the real thing. At China King, their chicken taste like chicken!! With the chicken and broccoli you get your choice of either brown sauce or white sauce. Did I mention I love a place that gives you (the consumer) options?! I've had it both ways and I enjoy both sauces but in recent times find myself deferring more to towards the white sauce and I add a bit of soy sauce. It's so delicious! Their egg drop soup is delicious and packed with egg. Did i mention that their eggs taste like real eggs here?! I enjoy their egg foo young and get mine mixed with shrimp and chicken. A photo wouldn't do much justice, taste far better! Also, China King has the BEST wonton soup out of any Chinese takeout restaurant I've been to. Most places give you more noodle than meat filling. But their wontons are packed with meat! You can actually get full off their wonton soup. I love that they allow me to add broccoli to mine. I love having a little green veggie mixed in with my wonton. I like to call my order in and it's always ready by the time i get there so there's hardly ever a wait time. As always, highly pleased with the service and quality of my meal--10 out of 10 for me every time! I forgot to post a picture of what I got the last time so I had to show y'all this time what my go to order is--The sesame shrimp is always on point but I usually ask for fried rice instead of the white rice and we also tried the shrimp egg fu young for the first time here and that was slamming!! Highly recommend both. No inside seating and they only accept cash but there is an ATM inside incase you forget to bring some. Read Hells B. review. She is my friend and told me about this spot. She was raving about the best Chinese food. Their chicken and broccoli was definitely great (white sauce) and they gave a generous portion of both chicken and broccoli. Roast pork lo mein had tasty pork inside it (try SangKee's roast pork over by H Mart if you love roast pork). Sweet and sour chicken - they gave me so much for $5! Wonton soup - wontons were pretty filled; more so than other spots. Egg roll was a bit greasy though. The Chinese places around me have upped their prices and lowered their portion sizes, so definitely nice to find this spot! read more

China King has been in this neighborhood since I was a child, so I grew up on it. The food is delicious and the taste is consistent, which is why this the only Chinese/American Take Out I will ever go to. They don't sell items like cheese fries, pizza fries, and single wings, and their prices are not the cheapest, but they're reasonable and the food is always ready for pick-up fairly quickly. I give it five stars because the food always tastes fresh; the vegetables (I usually have chicken with broccoli) are always fresh, and firmer than other stores i've tasted. They're one of the only food spots in that part of Cheltenham/Melrose Park that is open later (11PM on many days), so when it's late an you're hungry, this is definitely the place to go. read more

The best Chinese restaurant for miles around. Always on point, fresh, fast and everything comes out piping hot! My family and I have been eating here for over 20 years. Everyone in the neighborhood chooses this take out spot. Even ppl that have moved out of the area will come back just to grab some grub. I was very excited to give this place a try based on other great reviews....unfortunately, my take on this restaurant isn't as great. I called in a pick-up order of veggie lo mein and an order of spring rolls. The customer service is very good and even when I picked up my food, the great service continued. There are reviews that state how clean this place is and I beg to differ. While standing at the counter to pay, I could see over into the kitchen area and there were dirty rags laying on the floor and the floor was filthy. Furthermore, there was wayyyyy too much open uncooked food (they keep the front door open) and no gloves could be seen in site. Now for the food... My veggie lo mein was so over cooked, the lo mein was mushy and there was no sauce on the lo mein, so weirdly it was super dry and tasteless. Was sick prior week due to food poisoning so decided to ask her what she would recommend and sure thing; she gave me great advice than to take my money by suggesting the most expensive thing. The food was fresh. The ICE TEA drink was delicious and it was only $1.00. They had other fresh drinks like lemonade and another Red one. There are 2 types of Chinese food in Philly, authentic Chinese and authentic Chinese take out. Their take out food is by far one of the best and consistent by a long shot. I've never seen a take out do such a high volume of business where they have 4+ chefs, 3 counter people and a microphone system. That really speaks to their quality of food and the repeat customers. Get the fried chicken wings, they are the best around. I even like them more than Soho's double fried Korean wings.
