This is a perfect example of why we support local businesses. Eaten here many times, And every time it's always fast and fresh. Anytime you order Chinese food it's going to be 1520 minutes and that's expected. When we walked in at 7 o'clock there was on gentleman in the store. We went to Order our food and then one couple and another gentlemen walked in after us while we were still deciding on what to order. They made their orders, clearly being their first time here ( asking questions like- "do you have egg rolls?" Or like the picture above the counter shows dumplings, "do you have steamed dumplings?" Seriously? And both parties ordered 1 thing. ) they each paid, and went to the tables to wait. Meanwhile the gentleman behind the counter is also politely taking orders over the phone too for people calling in. When we went to order I finished my receipt and forgot to order eggrolls so he politely helped me make another purchase and was patient with me and not in a hurry to rush me. Since I was having troubles with my order, now both of the people waiting were getting verbally impatient, complaining that he was the only person there. This is a family owned business, their whole family works in the shop. The man behind the counter's wife, who usually is at the register, had taken their children home real quick and would be right back he told me. We told him no rush. You expect when you go into a restaurant (fast or not) for Chinese food that making your meal is going to take at least 15-20 minutes. They complained and made Comments about where the chef was, not knowing that he was the one that actually is going to make the food, or that it would actually be 15-20 minutes and that she would be right back. ( If you were in such a rush, go to McDonald's) The quality of food here is always good and lighter than most of the heavy oily places around. I pay for quality and understand what it takes to make a meal. And 15-20 (and even 25 minutes depending on how much we order) is acceptable and understandable. After we ordered, we stepped out and walked up the Publix strip and came back, like we usually do, and the food was ready- hot, fresh and smelling great. I will always keep coming back here, not just because of the courteous owner and his patience with the ignorance of customers sometimes, but because I know the food is tasty, hot and fresh, and abundant (see pics). read more

Don't waist your time calling in an order. 1 they can't understand you and you can't understand them, and when you finally get the order in, 2 they don't even start it till you arrive! Had a $32.00 order delivered today. I ordered the pu pu Platter of which only 2 egg rolls were not over cooked. 2 items were unrecognizable because they were black with a burnt smell. Chicken wings were too Crispy and dry- horrible - the ribs were not tender and although they didn't appear to be burnt the taste was like biting on charcoal! The wonton soup was good and the house fried rice was very good. Since the platter comes with most of the meat I give the entire meal a low 2. Very disappointed. The most horrible Chinese food I have ever had. Their sweet and sour chicken had very tough chicken pieces and the batter was very thick. The sauce was in a container and wasn't even hot. If you get soup, they only give you half a bag of noodles. I have never seen that at a Chinese restaurant before. The mother that works the front, if the daughter isn't there, is rude. I ordered Beef & Brocolli last night and found the portions of quality meat and vegetables to be balanced, unlike other places that give you a pile of cheap meat. I tried this place a week after it opened. There was a long line so I was optimistic. I'm afraid I had my hopes dashed. I ordered a honey chicken combo and was sadly disappointed. The chicken pieces were small and buried in a massive amount of fried dough. The rice was bland as was the egg roll. They also used the newer and smaller plastic containers for their food. Basically you get about three quarters of the food as places that use the aluminum containers. There are better choices for Chinese nearby. Hopefully they will improve over time. read more

Fairly average Chinese, nothing special here. Ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken and Pork, Sesame Chicken, Wonton, Egg Rolls, and Chicken Wings. The Sweet and Sour Chicken was a little undercooked, the breading being a bit mushy in the middle, Pork fried rice that came with it was good. The fried wontons were average and what we expected. Eggrolls seem a bit on the small side compared to other places I've been. Chicken wings were actually very good, thumbs up on that. Sesame chicken was on average with other places I have been. The Sweet and Sour sauce, falls on the sourer side which I actually like a bit more than ones that tend to be overly sweet. This place doesn't offer free crab rangoon for larger orders like some places in the area do. Instead of being a 3-star average rating, I give a 2 for the mushy middle of the Sweet and Sour Chicken, the smaller eggrolls, and no crab rangoon. read more

This was my first experience with China King. I ordered my food and it arrived in a timely manner. When I got the food home the portions were good and it tasted OK, it met our expectations for a take-out Chinese restaurant. The portions of fried noodles were surprisingly small though maybe two ounces of them in a small bag.The cashier really had an attitude though and she spoke so softly and with an accent that you could hardly hear or understand her. When I walked into the restaurant instead of greeting me she walked back to the prep area. I don't think her attitude is entirely her fault though as someone in the back was giving her "what for" loudly! It doesn't seem like the restaurant has a good team spirit. As I paid for my order the cashier didn't mention that the condiments, silverware and napkins were along the wall and I needed to get some. When I got my order home all of that was missing from my take out bag! I thought they usually gave you that stuff before you were handed it, they usually ask you if you want any sauces with it but she didn't even mention them or say to help myself with the items along the wall. We moved to DeLand last year and were hoping to find a Chinese restaurant that tasted like our favorite in Virginia and this one is it! Their chicken with garlic is soooo good, my mom's only wish is for more carrots, but the flavor is perfect! The only other dishes we've tried is the Szechwan chicken and Kung po chicken, both delicious! I read some reviews and these people that own this are hard workers and I always believe if you smile and greet also, you get that back in return and we find this restaurant exceptional! During the shut down and China King was closed, we tried one across the road as we were craving the chicken with garlic sauce and the food was very bland and we didn't finish it. I road up to see if China king was open yet and they were working to put up barriers and laughed when I knocked on the window and asked them to hurry it up! We then tried one in Debary and it was ok but not like this one. We are very lucky to have them in our area and I always call my order in and it is always hot, fresh and delicious!! I was excited to try a new Chinese place but the food here was awful. Pork fried rice should not be yellow. It had dried peas in it with maybe 3-4 small pieces of pork in it. The general tsos chicken was not good either. I asked for extra spicy and there was no spice at all. The egg roll was very bland. I will admit that the crab Rangoon was very good. First I order general tso chicken and it's looks like spareribs. I call to let them know they messed up with my order and got told that there food isn't suppose to looking or taste the same as others. I'm sorry but if you order American Chinese food it should look and taste the way you expect it too. I understand different spices or recipes but it should not look like ribs when you order chicken. I was told by the man on the phone if I came back for the right food or refund he will call the cops on me. So I went back like I should have and asked for a refund. The lady was trying to be helpful, however the guy just kept yelling at me on the top of his lungs. I got my refund and told never come back. Don't worry about that, I'm not getting nasty food and bad service. I don't expect your restaurant to last much longer with these reviews. I should have read them before I ordered but it was right next to the grocery store so I didn't.
