I was in Deland, FL, and craving for some Chinese steak. I remember from my high school days, the place to go for that was Wong Lees. Sadly, it's no longer there/closed. We found Top China which is in the same area/neighborhood. This place is a hole in a wall with no glamour or frills. More of a takeout. The good thing, it was clean. Food prices are reasonable/cheap. Even though there was a language barrier, the service is good. There was no steak item similar to Wong Lees on the menu. We ordered the main staple dishes for any Chinese restaurant; pork lomain, Mongolian beef, shrimp veggie, fried rice, and hot n sour soup. Food was cooked very fast but taste is just okay. Nothing really special. Unfortunately, I could have gone to a closer Chinese restaurant where I live and got a much better food experience. For me, this place is not my cup of tea. read more

Haven't ordered Chinese in let's say a very long time. We used to get Garlic Shrimp here and the shrimp were a decent size medium to large. Today was a huge disappointment to the quality I once had here. They used the smallest shrimp and there may have been only 12 little ones and the egg roll just didn't taste right. The boneless ribs were as expected but even the pork fried rice was missing the pork and veggies. Needless to say I won't be ordering from there anytime soon unless I hear the quality gets back to where it once was. Missing Won Lee's. read more

Service was a little rushed. I'm assuming it's because they don't want you to have to wait but also they really depend on volume of business because the prices are good. I ordered a small dish, but it was only seven dollars and change. It was delicious, and the chicken was more tender than a lot of Places. Really great vegetables and very fresh. Wow, what a find! We just moved to Deland, and we wanted Chinese fast food. Top's China is probably the best Chinese takeout we have ever eaten! The portions for the lunch specials (7 days/week) were very generous. You have got to try their big plump eggrolls, which is a choice that comes with the lunch special. The restaurant is clean. There are plenty of tables if you want to eat there. I have been there 3 times now, and the food quality is consistent. The nice lady who takes your order will get your meal out quickly (10 minutes). A lot of regulars call their orders in and then just walk in and pick it up. I think after you try Top's, you will know what I mean read more

We ordered general tso's chicken, sweet and sour chicken, pork fried rice, egg drop soup, wonton soup, and 2 eggs rolls: the general tso's came with white rice also, only $30. Decided to dine in as this is where mom wanted to eat lunch and I took a couple bites of rice which was good but when I took a bite of the chicken with some vegetables it was sour like rotten sour we immediately told the staff and was told "No one else complained" so there was nothing wrong with it that maybe I just got some garlic that made it taste sour but there used to be not wrong with it wouldn't even offer to remake it we both left as both out food vegetables were sour now I know why they can't ver everything ok sauce but mine was not a sauce dish so I tasted everything. First time ordering from here I got the General Tsos chicken. Overall I would say it was average, the sauce wasn't overly flavor filled or spiced it was just Chinese. Had an excellent lunch special take out in the past and was looking for an affordable and healthy lunch choice to dine in while in town. I ordered the Shrimp + Mixed Veg special. 30¢ UPCHARGE for H2O! (NO soup, egg roll, soda or fortune cookie with this choice) Order had only 5 SMALL shrimp in a SAD brown sauce could have found in a frozen dinner meal! During my time in college I cannot count the number of times I ate at Top's because their food was addictively good. Top's is so good my husband and I went back to DeLand for our anniversary in part to have Top's for dinner as we had so many times in school (a more than two hour drive). Five years later, the food did not disappoint. We enjoy in particular their sesame chicken, boneless spare ribs, and crab rangoon. read more

Just finished some take out My wife had the roasted pork and Chinese vegetables I had scallops in garlic sauce. Cooked very well my scallops were a little spicier than expected. We also had the boneless pork ribs, juicy, tender, flavorful. We have been taking out from Top China for ten years now. They are a mainstay for Stetson University Faculty, staff, and students. Their food is consistent; staff is always nice the quality is really good for take out, as good as I would expect on the plate of a decent Chinese restaurant. When the hurricanes hit here in 2004, they were fully staffed cooking with gas and battery operated lighting. They rock! Egg rolls are boring, fortune cookies are often stale. Most everything else I tried is really good. You CAN dine in at a few spartan tables, atmosphere is pretty spartan but clean. read more

This place I would say is very good. The best Chinese strip mall restaurant around. First off, I got the sesame chicken and it was very good, it had a nice crisp to it. But I didn't like how it had scallions. Didn't make it taste any better. Secondly, my dad ordered pork chow mein, didn't look very appetizing but he said it was SO GOOD. The pork fried rice without veggies was good I only had a few problems, the place was big but a little dirty, not that big of a deal tho My biggest issue was the freshness, right after we ordered, we sat down and 30 seconds latter my food came out! Don't know how fresh that was!!! Obviously not that freshly made if it cooked that fast (impossible) and my dads came out a lot later My overall experience was good, I would go back if I was in Deland again, but it wouldn't be my first choice, I would try other places. Dumplings were very "dough-y", ribs were dry and meatless lol, but the house fried rice was decent. The good part was it was still piping hot when I got home. Kinda liked that. But overall I was disappointed. read more

It is very difficult in the state of Florida to find good Chinese food. If you're like me from the Northeast who is used to a great selection of good hunan type Chinese food Florida is a huge disappointment for the most part. Tops China is the exception to this rule. I love pretty much everything they make their prices are decent, orders if you call your order is made within 10 minutes or so. You can dine in if you like it's a small dining room. I have never ordered anything I was disappointed in and I have always recommended people I know to travel the extra few miles to go to this particular restaurant. Where I work there is probably four or five Chinese places between me and Tops but I choose to go there on my lunch breaks when I'm in the mood for Chinese food I recommend Tops China and I hope you find this review helpful read more

I stopped tonight, wanting some broccoli and shrimp and an egg roll, i ordered at the window, and food came out quickly which was great. However, when i got home, I found that the shrimp were not cleaned completed, they still had the poop line in them, and not sure if they were over or undercooked, but they were not cooked right. If i could give zero stars i would. This place is disgusting. No flavor and overpriced. They leave their chicken out all day and just throw it in the fryer when you order it making it soggy and tasteless. Kind dirty as well, makes the kitchen area questionable on food safety. I recently moved to Deland & stopped by Top's China for the first time yesterday. I ordered pork egg foo young to go...it was still piping hot twenty minutes later upon arriving home. It was EXCELLENT egg foo young with unusually good dark brown gravy....and the egg roll was one of the best I've ever had. A real treat to have found seriously good Chinese in my new town! read more
