On Sundays when most other Chinese food restaurants are closed in the city, China King is open for business and cranking out orders! They get extra stars for that fact alone. The food was hot and fresh. It just lacked a bit of flavor. It's made well, but prepare to add some salt or soy sauce or something to bring it up to perfection. Absolutely horrible experience. Ordered the shrimp in garlic sauce & the shrimp wasn't even cooked all the way, it was literally balls of mush on the plate. We have been patrons of this restaurant for a long time, but this most recent order will be our last. To start with nobody answered the phone to take a carryout order. We had thought they might be closed unexpectedly but that wasn't the case. We went and placed our order in person. They were very busy but that has never prevented answering the phone in the past. We always order enough so that we have leftovers. The food this time was awful and most went into the trash. The lo mein tasted of scorched oil. Egg rolls, crab Rangoon, and fried wontons were extremely greasy. Portions were generous but when it's not edible it doesn't matter. read more

Crab Rangoon is the best with sweet n sour sauce or duck sauce. Egg rolls are fresh and lightly fried... not overcooked or soaked in cooking oil. Orders are near perfect every time! I've always had great service from this location. I always call my orders in and have hardly any wait time unless I show up early. Wait time is usually 15-20 minutes, which is why I call ahead. We have been on a search for good Chinese in Florissant and I think we have finally found our place. The few okay places we have gone to are really slow and the fast places are not good. China King was very clean. The staff was friendly and fast. I was also impressed by how carefully they packed the bag. The crab rangoons are awesome. They are huge and filled with lots of cream cheese and crab. The shell is light and flaky. The chicken fried rice had nice size pieces of chicken and was piping hot. We also got the sweet and sour pork. Unlike most places where the meat is dripping in sauce, here the sauce was served on the side and you can use as much or as little as you like. OK after looking at Yelp and someone responding with China King when I randomly asked where I should go for Chinese, I haddd to try it. The verdict is yummy!!!! Now is it the best fried rice not quite, the best chicken not quite, but good enough to make me a regular customer. The inside is pretty spacious and you can eat there. It appears to be pretty clean and my wait wasn't terribly long. I really like that I can get my own condiments. I'm sure we've all experienced the stingy Chinese places that give you 1 soy sauce pack and 1 sweet and sour for your order that requires at least 4. I got the fried chicken combination plate with rice and an egg roll. The only thing I didnt like was the price. I'm used to paying under $6 for a combo plate and this was about $7.80 with tax. I will say it was worth it because the portion is enough for 2 people. There's a whole plate of rice and 6 wings (3 whole wings in half) and they are meaty but not overkill where you are questioning if its really chicken. I only finished half. I moved here for school and it was recommended not only by students, but also the faculty. I had people telling me I NEEDED to try the crab Rangoon from this place before I even moved here. One of the Chinese restaurants for take out in STL! Definitely the best in the Florissant area. Stir fry vegetables are always fresh, which is a good indication of not cutting corners. One star taken away because sometimes the shrimp is a bit past it's prime and the crab rangoons are overly sweet. The interior is tired and dated, but not an issue if you're just picking up. LOVE THIS PLACE. Never everrrrrrr liked Chinese food until I had this place. I know it isn't -real- Chinese but it's the best ever. My order has never been incorrect and the girl at the front desk 100% always knows what I want (it's always confusing).
