Placed a walk-in order for five at 11:15 on a Tuesday. The tables & floor were cleaner than Golden House on Union St. I sat at a table until my order was completed in 20 minutes; it was packaged well. Order: 3 lunch specials-- Generous portions of protein *Sesame Chicken with Hot and Sour Soup They advertise "white meat" and they delivered. I order this dish often, and it was delicious at China King. It was not over fried fatty pieces! The sauce was flavorful. The soup was above average with a flavorful mildly spicy broth, nice amount of tofu and egg drop. Pleased it was not too salty. *Chicken and Broccoli with Wonton Soup Both were very good. *Boneless Spare Ribs with Eggroll (typical) The pork was sliced in thin strips, and some pieces were tough and chewy. I would not order again. *Two orders of Chicken Mei Fun There were many pieces of tender chicken, and it was flavorful, not bland. Mei Fun was far better than served at other local Chinese places I frequent. *Chicken Dumplings Very good *Quart of Wonton Soup Liked the pieces of scallions Great parking and access. This is some GOOD Chinese food y'all. I ordered delivery, it showed up quickly and was piping hot. The dumpling sauce was so garlicky, and the crab Rangoons were the best I've ever had... the wontons were so thin and crispy. This place is very cozy with order counter, open kitchen, and a few tables for eating in. They offer the standard Chinese dishes including Szechuan and Hunan specialties. They offer 50 Luncheon Specials served Mon-Sat before 3PM($5.15-$5.45), 30 Special Combination Platters ($7.25-$7.30), and also Health Food Selections. No MSG is added to the food. I've ordered dinner takeout from China King a few times. My friend lives only 3 minutes from here, which makes this place very convenient to stop and pick up a filling meal at a reasonable price. I've had the roast pork lo mein (very soft noodles with a mix of vegetables & roast pork strips) and the Szechuan beef (very soft beef slices, fresh mixed vegetables including broccoli, snow peas, onions, carrots, water chestnuts in a thick spicy sauce), both dishes taste good. The pork fried rice (yellow color) is mostly soft rice with a few pork cubes, onion, and sprouts. The egg roll is not too greasy has a good mix of soft shredded cabbage and pork. The food here is utterly mundane, with respect to Chinese and Asian cuisine, which is to say it's completely standard Americanized Chinese takeout. This means it's heavy on sauces, extra sweet, not very spicy (although they do claim to adjust spiciness, asking for "hot" on a Szechuan dish resulted in the addition of one chili pepper), and with American-substitute veggies for the most part. But with that disclaimer aside, for what it is, they perfectly execute the American-style Chinese takeout. Service: clear conversation with the order-taker resulted in our leaving 17 minutes after arriving with our order, despite the fact there were obviously multiple orders ahead of us on a busy night. Correct, computer-printed list of dishes, and the clerk repeated our order upon taking it and upon giving us the bags. Servings: large, and packed in modern plastic re-usable storage boxes, with clear lids, not the classic drippy hard to see what's inside cardboard boxes. Our dumpling order had eight generous dumplings in it. Ingredients: decent, decent enough. Veggies ample but not to the exclusion of meat dishes. Our Szechuan beef had a pleasingly full compliment of ingredients. They had actual sun clouds in the hot and sour, although no golden needles (I can't really expect the latter, given the difficulty in obtaining them here, except in a sit-down higher end restaurant). The hot and sour soup was more sour than hot -- I tend to like the sourness, but my wife likes it hotter -- but the main point here was the soup showed a modicum of originality and lack of having been ladled out of a can. Preparation: veggies were cooked but still green - we like them just a tad crispier but it's a lot better than the overcooked stuff you get at most locations. Kitchen visible to all, clean, and employees seen to be washing their hands on multiple occasions during our visit. The "Crispy Green Beans" weren't crispy, but they were at least still stiff (swimming in sauce, as, see above, you tend to expect from takeout joints). Orange chicken was just a little light on broccoli, but again, at takeout joints I'm used to seeing little to no brocc in the same dish. Extras: a ton of fortune cookies to make the kids happy, beyond the minimum number, and they weren't stale. A couple of other minor notes: * while the menu is standard, from the extra dishes, the house specialty regional cuisine seems to be Szechuan. That said, we didn't get the real szechuan vibe from the dish we ordered; we'll try asking for "real" szechuan spicing next time and see how it goes. * There are 12 seats in the place, but it's counter service and I don't see any point in dining in. * The backlit picture-menu at top makes it seem like it's shooting for that Panda Express market, but it's closer to traditional independent Chinese takeout. read more

This is a fairly decent restaurant to go to although I do believe that things could have been better which is why I gave it three stars. They are very conscious of the covid-19 and require you to take a menu from the outside look at the menu order and then come in and pick up the food when it is completed allowing only two people in the building at a time because it is a very small building. I ordered a sesame chicken combo meal and crab rangoon and my wife ordered is sweet and sour chicken and unfortunately the sesame chicken that I received was very dry and did not really have a lot of flavor to it the pork fried rice was good and my wife did think that the sweet and sour chicken was good as well as the pork fried rice did not get the Eggroll That was supposed to come with my meal. And also the crab rangoon I must say we're spot on they were very good. I can't say if it was just a fluke situation or if it was something that is a regular occurrence with this place but I will say that with any service that is out there we all have our bad days, so if you're ever in the area and you would like to try some Chinese takeout give it a try and see if you like it. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh! The meat is DISGUSTING. I asked for no sugar in my order which is what they told me on the phone when I called to ask what kind of "meat" was in the Moo Shu Chicken. It was rubbery, translucentish white, and tasted like nothing. I told the person on the phone it was HORRIBLE and he told me it was because I had asked for no sugar. I told him the sauce wasn't terrible but the MEAT WAS GROSS. The beef in the Szechuan Beef dish was like a gooey rubber. I had asked for medium spicy but there was NO SPICE at all. The food was really disgusting which is sad, because they used to be kind of okay and they are nearby. The wait is incredible. They do say 45-75 minutes, my wait was 90 minutes. For Chinese food....seriously? Off hours order too. Terribly inept phone service, driver extremely rude. I hate to give a 2 star review- so let me state right up front that this place isn't awful. The person who took my order was polite and helpful. The food was ready quickly and was piping hot. Although I didn't eat in the restaurant, it did seem bright, clean and quiet. That being said, I don't think I've ever had Chinese food that is so bland! I ordered three dishes: General Tso Chicken combo w/Pork Fried Rice, Pan Fried Wonton w/ Garlic Sauce, and Beef Chow Fun. They have an option for all white-meat chicken, so that is how I ordered the General Tso's. Now, I like a little heat when I order General Tso and I like the chicken to be crispy. What I received was the exact opposite- the chicken was limp and tasteless. Maybe ordering all-white meat chicken was the mistake, but I kind of doubt it. The Pork Fried Rice was also really bland and boring. In fact, the combo platter was so bland I actually just lost interest and didn't want any more of it after the first few bites. I tried the Beef Chow Fun next. That was also incredibly bland. It tasted like I was eating plain rice noodles without any sauce or seasoning. The beef was unexceptional. I only had a small portion before I pushed that aside, as well. Finally I tried the Pan Fried Wontons w/Garlic Sauce. These were the best of the lot but, unfortunately, that's not saying much. Garlic Sauce is supposed to have heat (there was even a red pepper in the menu next to this item to warn us that it is spicy) but these too were quite bland. There was lots of sauce covering the wontons, so it wasn't for the lack of sauce. It was just that the sauce was bland and unexciting. I suppose if you have an intestinal issue which is aggravated by strong or spicy foods then this might be a good place. But if you're looking for Chinese food that has some actual taste, I would go elsewhere. read more

I used to really like this food and thought they were the best. The last several times we ordered the food was horrible. Obviously they are using old oil as the rice tastes nasty as do the egg rolls. The broccoli was not well cooked and the complimentary fortune cookies you always get with anyone else are missing. I love the delivery man and always thought him nice. Great food! My husband ordered General Tso's chicken with lo mein and white rice, and I ordered vegetable fried rice (since I usually am not a huge Chinese food fan). Oh my God was it good! Even though my rice is a simple dish, I was still very impressed with the flavors. The rice was perfectly cooked, not too dry or wet and full of vegetables, and my husband's meal was, I quote "too good for words." I tried the lo mein and it was perfect. The staff was super friendly, and the food was ready within 15 minutes. I ordered online though so I'm not sure what the experience would've been like on the phone. The absolute worst General Tso's chicken I have encountered, It had a soft exterior with the mouthfeel of a marshmallow. The sesame noodles were bland and tasteless.
