We were able to get some food to go this last weekend and it was superb. We ordered, almond Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Lo Mein and Crab Rangoons. All the food was hot and tasted fresh. This little place is a gem in bad axe. Whenever I'm home, this is one of the places I need to go to. Their buffet, far from being low quality, is still great value. Do yourself a favor and get that. My family and I visited China King over Labor Day weekend. The food here used to be quite exceptional years ago and I even waitressed here back in the day! It was horribly disappointing!!! The soup was bland and eggrolls as well, I asked the waitress if Sam and Janet were around, and they said it was sold to their nephew. Too bad he didn't learn from them how too cook it right. We will never go back such a treat years ago!! No one was happy with the buffet although my hot and sour soup was pretty good..the rest was blah. Thumbs down :( read more

The most overpriced and disgusting chinese food I have ever experienced. Anyone who thinks this is anywhere close to be even remotely good perhaps has only this to go on by way of chinese....which is unfortunate. I had a set meal of fried rice with shrimp, chicken, and vegetables...also included soup and eggroll. The soup (chicken noodle) was basically a watered down sodium broth with noodles that were insanely long and had to attempt to cut to even try. 3 spoonfuls was stretching it. The eggroll was just deep fried as much as possible and the insides were meh. My main dish was even more tragic. The rice looked like the brown beef rice packets you get at grocery stores, the veggies looked somewhat fresh and colorful (did eat all the broccoli) however it was all marinating in a watery looking sauce. As I started to eat the shrimp and veggies I realized the sauce seemed to be from the shrimp being thawed, they tasted beyond horrible and clearly were thawed just before serving. The ice tea had a very smoky flavor to it. Just all around tragic and an absolute rip off at a little over $15 for one person. I have traveled extensively through the US and Europe and was visiting a friend here. I feel for the people in the town of Bad Axe being ripped off by such horrible chinese food; and it was very busy. read more

Absolute best Chinese food! I've eaten at many Chinese restaurants in many cities in Michigan and nothing compares to the quality here. It is Bad Axe, so the restaurant itself isn't the prettiest, but its well worth the drive if you're in eastern Michigan. My friends and I go out of our way to come here! read more

Been here 3 times since the new owners and they dont replace food on the buffet...so pay the expensive price and sit with old cold food. Never once added more onion rings, chicken balls, doughnuts, or steak in the mushroom stuff. The food on the buffet has been room temp if that and 3 times in a row I've gotten the buffet even asked do you keep putting food out because this was after 6...OH yes yes....WRONG no they didnt. The Chinese girl answers the phone you cannot understand her and she collects the money doesnt trust anyone. I'm sure they will not throw anything out either thats why the food sits there forever. I really miss Sam and Janet. I wont be back 3 times and OUT. read more

We must say, there were lots of people here. The staff was friendly, but . . that's where the "good" ended. We did the buffet - which we felt was expensive for the very limited selection offered. There were a couple/few chicken dishes, one seafood dish w/shrimp and one with beef - along with rice and a couple veggie dishes. We were also offered soup, which was just "OK" - and tea, which was standard black tea (not a special jasmine tea or something like that to go along with Chinese dinner. Was up here for work three days and I was worried that the Chinese food was mediocre since you had to travel very far to get Asian food .After working 16 hours I got myself a coup large cans of Miller Lite and headed over to the China King who I found on my 6 yr old Garmin without updates didn't know if this place was still around. I walked in at 9pm just before closing and order Pork Fried Rice(quart)and Szechuan Chicken combo. I sat by the kitchen door and was heard them talking in our native tongue. Now I've been a huge fan of the NYCstyle Fukien run Chinese restaurants that seem to be popping up the last 20 or so years all over. My family had owned Cantonese restaurants in the last 40 years in Detroit Metro Area so I know what good chinese is. For this Cantonese style I would give it a 7 out of ten. The next day i came back and tried their buffet. I was please that the Almond Chicken was so thick and that the light Almond Chicken gravy was not the roux based Egg Foo Young Gravy that some places now use on Almond Chicken. I liked it so much I ordered some to go and drive it 100 mile back home. The Sesame(less) chicken on the buffet was good too. Their noodles on the buffet was limp and soggy, it had asian flavor but looked curiously non Asian noodles. I would go there again if in the area. read more

Great Mongolian beef and the vegetables always taste great in the sauce. I think they just buy frozen egg rolls they taste good though. I didn't care for their egg drop soup it was too thick for my liking. The food is very good and you get large portions. My wife likes their sweet and sour chicken. The chicken is definitely done from scratch. The inside is dated, chairs are crummy banquet chairs and tables are from the 80's. Service was okay. I think they should try to class up the look and it could start by making the staff follow a dress code. read more

I've been here a few times now since the new owners took over and getting tired of getting cold food. You pay the increased price for buffet and NOTHING gets put out there 4 times now on a Friday Night I have went and nothing was added....hard chicken balls, cold donuts, no beef in the mushroom onion stuff, but yet I asked prior to ordering and I called in which She, the owner, answered and yes lots of people here .....No there wasnt.......They didnt even make fresh onion rings I was more than disappointed when I am paying almost $12 dollars for greasy egg roll and cold brown rice just awful. What did it for me was the last time....thought well 3 times has been the say but I know its a fluke so ONE MORE TIME I tried cuz I thought cant be they wouldnt let this business go downhill like this.......well the last time I was sicker than a dog .....and again nothing fresh was taken out so I"m done with China King.. read more

China king is the best Chinese you will get. My family loves Chinese and gets it wherever we go and overall this place is best. This is your mid priced no frills restaurant. They have a lunch and dinner buffet both are great. The combination plate has large portions and is less than 10 bucks 2010 dollars. My favorite entree is sweet & sour chicken and the egg rolls are fantastic. My wife is crazy insane about the beef with pea pods. If your in Bad Axe and Chinese is your thing, your in luck!
