Ummmm, one of the best Thai restaurants I've ever been to. We got lucky and stumbled upon this gem on Yelp when visiting bay city. Not much to look at pulling up, but some of the most amazing food inside. Only three small tables and I assume they do mostly carryout. We happened to Come at an odd time. 2:30 on a Friday which worked out perfect considering I heard them on the phone say they are often booked ahead for multiple hours. The cheese wontons and the potstickers were great, but the true masterpiece is the peppered sliced steak. We enjoyed it on the green curry but they offer as an option on many of their dishes. Incredible hole in the wall restaurant with incredible people and incredible food. The staff are few but are friendly and work their butt off! I highly encourage folks to support this business. The entire time we had dine in, they folks here were friendly, attentive, and worked fast to get orders out. The dine in seating is limited , so don't bring a large group. It seems that they take reservations. Parking is limited. But everything still felt really clean and quaint. Honestly I was so hungry the egg drop soup that came with my meal was giving me life! I ordered a pad see ewe, and my husband ordered a drunken noodles. "Hot" is indeed spicy! The food was delicious and good portions. Their menu is robust and im eager to try more. No plates, just take out containers. But hey, that's the hole in the wall charm I guess hahaha. I wish they had offered water and there was a self serve water station. Ok so I almost didn't eat here because when I pulled up, the place looked abandoned! So much that I had to double check that I drove to the right place. I reviewed the reviews again and the food porn and said to myself...Well let's give it a try. I'm so glad I did! The owner was so nice and took her time to explain the dishes in detail. She made sure I knew what I was getting. I've eaten Thai for many years in many different cities. The flavor of the tom yum was one of the best I've ever had!! Not the traditional veggies that I'm accustomed too but the flavor did NOT disappoint! The Thai tea remix was a little too sweet for my taste but the soup more than made up for that. What an unexpected pleasure! We were in town for another event and had heard of this restaurant. When we arrived, there was only one other car in the lot. Very limited and informal seating here. If you want china and crystal and silverware, order "to GO" and set your own table. Their ad shows only take out options, there's space in the shop as long as it doesn't get too popular. In any case, when you taste this food, you will smile! I got the Thai noodles Medium Spice with Duck and M'Lady got the Pad Thai NO Spice with Shrimp. Did I mention the DUCK?! I goes at market price, it is WONDERFUL! I got the crispy option, they also offer it rotisserie cooked. The crispy duck was done perfectly, light crunchy skin and very moist meat. This alone was worth the trip! M'Lady's Pad Thai was very good as well. The portions we received we quite large, we both had some to appreciate later. This is a great little restaurant. Peter and Chia's is not just a diamond in the rough, it's a diamond - would easily be one of my favorite restaurants in my home city if it were there (I'm from out of town). While the interior is fairly simple and unassuming, the Thai green curry I had was delicious. Also, the constant waft of wok stir fry from the kitchen was a treat! Most importantly, Peter and Chia (and their family staff) are some of the sweetest ppl I've met. Even though it was my first time meeting them, it was obvious that they serve love as much as they serve food. I only wish I had more stomach space or meals to try other things on their menu. It's small, old and parking is scarce but don't let that fool you. It's pretty good Thai! Don't let location fool you and if it's crowded, recommend that you do the takeout. Others have better described the ambiance so I'll focus on the food and service. The service from our waitress was fantastic and Chia came out when I asked about a specific Thai condiment. She definitely cares about her customers and offered suggestions for home recipes. She's very outgoing and passionate about what she does which is a rare find these days. We visited just once as it's a bit of a drive but we do plan on returning. The quality was good, portions generous and the Thai flavor is definitely present! We both tried meals from the curry section where mine was medium with chicken and my wife had mild with tofu. Both delicious and we finished the next day for lunch (the food is served in takeout dishes so no waiting for boxes). We ordered the Vietnamese coffee over ice which was good (it's been a long time since we had it but the cream seemed different than what we remembered; good, but different). Wow! Super delicious food! Must try! Don't let the outside deceive you. This NEW up and coming restaurant is exactly what Saginaw needs. It is a tiny family owned and ran business. The owners are EXTREMELY friendly and the customer service is superb. They were very busy when I dined in on a Friday evening. Phones kept ringing, people kept stopping by for take out, and all tables were full. There's a reason why they are busy this place is AMAZING! If you are looking for a fast scoop and dump Chinese place this is not it. All food is fresh and made when ordered, with that said your order does take time to cook and prep so be patient. You can find Chinese and Thai menu options here which is sure to please all. Portions are HUGE!!! We ordered the appetizer sampler which had 2 egg rolls, 2 spring rolls, 2 wontons, 2 potstickers and it came with a variety of dipping sauces. Everything was good, fresh and the egg rolls were nice and crispy on the outside. My dinner order of chicken pad Thai came with an egg drop soup which was delicious. It was a nice consistency not too thick but also not runny which paired nicely with the wonton strips they brought out. I ordered my chicken pad Thai hot which had a good kick to it. I like my food very spicy so this was a good choice. The chicken they use for the the pad Thai is good quality white meat. All veggies (carrots, onion, etc) were cut in a nice portion and they were fresh NOT frozen veggies. The noodles were cooked perfectly and every bite was full of flavor. I just wish my stomach was bigger so I could've ate more. I ordered a Thai tea with no whip cream but I drank about half of it before I realized I didn't take a picture of it to post. So that should be a sign of how delicious it was. We also ordered Young chow fried rice which had chicken, ham, and good sized shrimp. The fried rice had white and green onions, bean sprouts, egg, and garlic. Of course it was ordered spice level of HOT and we added mushrooms to it. The fried rice had lots of shrimp which surprised me because often places give like 3 or 4 shrimp for the order but not this restaurant!!! The owner even brought out a sample of Thai curry fried rice with tofu. The tofu is of high quality, not rubbery or chewy. The pineapple brought a nice sweetness to the dish. Best spot for thai food in the tri cities, maybe even further. My girl & I stopped in for lunch and it was fantastic. The menu is vast but not overly large, it's a good mix of the hits from Chinese, Thai, and a little Vietnamese thrown in the mix. Since it was our first time, we kept it pretty basic. We started with thai teas, got some potstickers, and pad thai, which also came with egg drop soup. If you live around here, you know thai food, especially good thai food, is a tough thing to find. The pad thai was delicious. The vegetables, which are usually understated, really stood out and tasted fresh. The chicken was also well-cooked, not dry like it can be other places. Thai teas really hit the spot and saved us from the spice. Potstickers were solid, I even noticed the dough's nice texture and chew. Lastly, the egg drop soup was some of the best I've had, and a very appetizing color. While dining, we overheard the owner telling others about all that they do and it's very clear they care a lot about the quality of their food. The overall vibe of the staff also made it clear of that and they were excited to be doing their thing. The only thing I want to note (not necessarily a bad thing) is that the spice levels may be hotter than average, so when in doubt, go down a stage. Wow, we wanted to try Pete and Chias House, I really love Thai food and in the Saginaw/Bay area there is really no good Thai restaurants. I can honestly say that I was blown away at how delicious the food was. We ordered three main courses. The first dinner we tired was the Shrimp Pho Noodles. This is one of my favorite Asian comfort foods. The bowl was by far the best Pho I have ever eaten. Then we order Chicken Pad Thai and Chicken Garlic Pad Ped, and both of these dishes blew us out of the water. The only downside to this restaurant was the building itself. I knew going in that the building wasn't the best, but then the owner Chia made you feel you were at her house and just part of her family. If you are in the mood for some delicious Thai food then go give this place at try, you will not be disappointed. read more

Chias is a lovely human. My mom, (91) had never had pho before. She was blown away by the beef broth with fried tofu and added vegetables! I'm a pho phonatic (seriously intended misspelling) and am always looking for new places to find some. The entire family is involved in preparing, and serving their amazing food. On my first visit we had Cream cheese wontons that were fried and stuffed full with creamy goodness. For my entree I had Mongolian beef spice level HOT with steamed rice. The beef is high quality meat, and the portion was ginormous. I had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day. My order came with a choice of egg drop and wonton soup. I ordered egg drop which was to die for!!! Mongolian beef is the perfect dish for onion lovers since it's loaded with onion. Not even a week has passed by and I'm here again! This time I brought my family to try it. They ordered orange chicken and Mongolian chicken both with a side of fried rice. The orange chicken was nice and zesty which brought a fresh taste to the dish. I usually don't like orange chicken because it's too much breading not enough chicken but not here. Driving past, you wouldn't give the exterior of this restaurant a second thought, except for the busy parking lot which allows you to wonder just what could be going on in there... Peter and Chia's House is just that. A little house off the side of Bay Road with a green door and trim, but inside are husband and wife, Peter and Chia, cooking up delicious homemade Chinese-Thai food. Walking in, you're most likely greeted by host who is trying to keep up with a ringing phone, customers walking in to pick-up or dine-in. There are only a few smaller tables inside, but we chose to stay since we were staying at a nearby hotel and anything is better than eating on the same bed you'll be sleeping. The host asked us how many and pushed together two smaller tables so the four of us could sit. We put in our order a few minutes later and were told it would take around 30-45 minutes for our order. That was completely fine considering every table had patrons, tickets piling up in the kitchen, and we were in no rush. All of our entrees came with wonton or egg drop soup, which came out hot and ready about 10 minutes later. By the time we finished our soup and spent a few more minutes conversing, our food was ready! Our group all ordered various noodles dishes, and each came out in a to-go container. At first, I didn't think we asked for our order to-go, but I quickly realized it must be by design! The portions were plentiful, and we each could easily put a lid on it and take it home! I tried the Pad Thai with chicken because it's one of my favorites that I like to try at new places. This particular version had wider noodles and more of a brown sauce, but still was savory & delicious with peanuts sprinkled on top. Next time, I want to try the Lemon Pad Thai which also sounded enticing. My friends all loved their dishes as well; comments that were shared include: "soooooo good," (noodle slurp), and "I can't wait to have this for lunch tomorrow." We are back in a few months for another trip and we will DEFINITELY be visiting Peter & Chia's House again to try some more dishes! I've eaten here a few times now and it's always been great. Service is great, but you have to order early! Last time I ate inside and they were all really nice. I'm not a fan of how they do their egg drop soup as I prefer mine with more veg or tofu, but everything else was really good!
