The Lamplighter has recently switched hands and obtained new owners in January of 2025. Katy and Chad have worked very hard over the past months to improve not only the menu but the service as well! If you have a chance to stop in and check out all that's new! I understand how some might be wary, however Chads family has been in the restaurant business for many years and Katy herself is a sever! These two definitely know what they are doing! Though slightly outdated inside they are working hard to update the decor to a more updated look. PSA: On Sunday, September 25th, I ordered 36 pieces of broasted chicken from the Lamplighter Restaurant. When I picked up my order, I was charged $149.99! This equates to $4.17 per piece. I questioned the cashier and was informed this charge was correct. She said a 12 piece bucket is $16.99, but due to COVID there is a shortage and costs have increased. As a result, customers are limited to one bucket and are charged by the piece for orders greater than 12 pieces. This was NOT conveyed to me when I placed my order. I was not charged per piece after the first 12 pieces; I was charged per piece for the entire 36 piece order. The only solution the cashier offered was for me to return the chicken, which was already in my vehicle, for a full refund. Because we had a family event planned and everyone was waiting to eat, I felt I had to accept the charges. After dinner, I decided to discuss this with the manager. I was basically given the same story. I explained how this made no sense. At minimum, I should have been charged for the 12 piece bucket, which would have been $1.42 per piece then charged $4.17 per piece for the remaining 24 pieces. That would have at least saved me $33.00. In order to corroborate the Lamplighter Restaurant's reasoning/pricing, I decided to compare prices with Pigeon's Main Street Family Restaurant. They offer a 32 piece chicken bucket for $56. Drumsticks are $2 each; thighs $2.50 each. Based on Pigeon's prices, the most we would have spent is $66.00 vice the $150 for the SAME meal! We believe we must support our local businesses if we want to keep them in town, However, I am so disappointed in their price gouging and lack of effort to reasonably please their customers, my large family will never order from the Lamplighter again. We will drive the 15 miles to support Pigeon's Main Street Family Restaurant where they have been able to build a business model that allows them to have a profitable business while making their prices affordable for their customers. read more

My usual pit stop in Sebawaing is McDonalds, but since their dining room was out of commission I decided to satisfy my curiosity about the Lamplighter. Sebawaing's McDonalds may have lost themselves a customer. I was there for lunch, but had a taste for an omelette and ordered the cheese and mushroom one. As the waitress was taking my order back to the kitchen I had second thoughts--I remembered that diners often use canned mushrooms, which can be rubbery and flavorless. But when I got the omelette I was pleased to see the mushrooms were grilled fresh mushrooms. The omelette had great texture with plenty of the fillings. And the waitress brought it with a bottle of hot sauce--I didn't have to ask. Service in general was friendly and fast. I chose a biscuit for the side and it was very good too, soft with a slightly crunchy exterior. Hash browns were the only off note here. They were a little mushy. I ordered mine extra crispy, and they came blackened in spots but still otherwise mushy. Still ate most of them. I've had worse. I will probably be this way in another week or two and will sample some lunch items. read more

Nasty food. Yuck. Processed microwavable sausage. And really how hard is it to make French toast? It has zero flavor and the syrup is so watered-down it has zero flavor. Not to mention the waitresses too busy visiting in the back to actually wait on us and see if I'm enjoying my food or not. I can't even finish this nasty food. Nothing better than fresh local perch. This place has amazing simple classic food. Like a Leo's downtown but half the price, you can't beat that. The wait staff is kind and friendly. Always on the ball to help you and your table out with what every you need. Not to mention that you can always judge a place on what kind of pickles they serve and this place has some prime pickles. If your driving through the area and your in the mood for a classic American meal, come here, sit down, and enjoy an amazing meal. read more

Great restaurant very clean and always smells clean! Waitresses could be a little faster but hey we've all been there; little on the pricey side but well worth it, salad bar is little but it's great I love it when they have their potato salad. Their pizzas are great they sometimes get a little too topping happy. Expect to visit the bathroom three times after the visit though! Had amazing service. The waitress was so sweet and nice. The food was also wonderful. Had the pot roast and the porterhouse The pot roast was fall apart tender and the steak was cookedd perfectly. The table next to us had a calzone that looked to die for. Highly recommend this place. It had a very welcoming and cute atmosphere. read more

Customer services was nice, and apologetic because of the poor cooking staff. Food came suspiciously fast, suspect mostly microwaive/ boxed food. My order was messed up, I asked for a broasted potato and got a baked one. My grandmother ordered fried cauliflower and got fried mushrooms (good thing she is not allergic) grandfather's lasagna was cooked for like a week. We live in the area so we order when we're feeling lazy and Peking City is closed. After three years of our orders being wrong and the food being cold, we are done giving them our money. Peking City has American food too and it beats the socks off of Lamplighter. read more

had breakfast there this morning. usually its pretty good, but today i ordered the french toast special and it was awful. the syrup was tasteless and the french toast wasnt much better either. i would recommend their broasted chicken and fish though, as well as the dough balls. also had a strawberry waffle and the strawberries were terrible. read more
