I've been here a few times already with my friends to get Chinese food after work. Every time I've been here it is rather empty which is good if you want to eat here with a large group. However, the waitress has always been serious and seems to be in a rush to get us to order. She's always been rude in her demeanor of taking order and handing us the food. I've been coming here for a few years and I must say I'm always impressed. My food is never too greasy and is always hot and fresh. Most recently, I picked up salt and pepper fish and garlic string beans to take to a study group and it was delicious. My classmates and I really enjoyed it. The garlic sauce on the green beans gave it the perfect flavor and they had a really nice crunch to them. Other times I've order different versions of their fried rice, chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken etc. I have no complaints. My coworker and I stopped by here for lunch while in the area for work. My coworker doesn't eat fast food and there weren't many restaurant options nearby either, so we ended up settling with this Chinese place since we were both craving some chow fun. I ordered a beef chow fun and my coworker ordered a chicken chow fun. You get complimentary soup during lunch hour. We each got a bowl of hot and sour soup. It was pretty good, but a little too much on the sour side than what I'm used to. I hope it wasn't cuz it was spoiled from the hot weather. When we got the chow fun, just by looking at it, I was already let down. It is not your average chow fun. It had mushrooms and bak choy in it. Where were the onion and the bean sprouts? Sure, you can add whatever you want to the chow fun, but at least make it taste like it! It did not taste like chow fun. Maybe I should've ordered a sweet and sour pork dish. Maybe that would've been a safer order. I'm Chinese and have had plenty of chow fun in my lifetime and the chow fun here does not even compare. Ordered the sesame chicken. Outside texture perfect the inside yuck. Looks like dark meat & it's a grey color. The texture feel funny & the sauce is just ok. The veggie chow Mien saved my lunch, barely. It was "blonde" most of the time it's a dark sauce. I won't be back. East coast Chinese is better, NYC is way better. This very much food court realness. My family and I have been coming here since it was Yans.. Which was always our favorite. Even though it's changed owners, the food is pretty good! Quiet location, nothing too fancy, never seen it packed inside. Plenty of parking outside. We always order family style and almost everything I've tried is really good! Good service, not sure if its because my parents go there often and speak Chinese or just in general, lol. Most recently got white chicken meat with vegetables today (zucchini, carrots, water chestnuts, and broccoli). Came here several times since my first visit, I am very impressed with the singapore style noodles, the fried rice is good, the lunch specials are a very good value. normally I do not like hot and sour soup, but it is very good here, I always finish the bowl they give you with lunch. the portions are large, the walnut prawn is also delicious and not too heavy like some other places. the mandarin braised tofu felt like a very healthy option, but came out hot and hardy, the tofu was full of flavor and the vegetables were soft and well steamed. there are not many employees here, it seems like a family run type of restaurant, but that is probably how they can keep costs low for the amount and quality. highly recommended for local casual dining. read more

I've only ordered take out, but the service has always been good. The menu has a ton of options, including items I have a hard time finding elsewhere such as pork buns and foil wrapped chicken. The foil wrapped chicken has herbs in it (cilantro?) which I've never seen used anywhere else but that's a nice addition! I prefer this place to others I've tried in Pinole/San Pablo/Richmond, which is great because I live down the street! They've never screwed up an order, and my food is still hot when I get it home (I know down the street isn't far to go, but I've had food get cold THAT fast before). Only one gripe is that they don't have my bf's favorite, House Special fried rice, so I'm having a hard time getting him to eat here. That one star is actually a no-star (there's no option for zero.) I've never written a review to give a one star because it seems harsh but also because there's never been a restaurant that was that bad. Until China Kitchen. I feel it's necessary to write this review because their food is so bad I would consider it borderline dangerous to eat. I ordered Szechuan chicken, wonton soup and combination chow mein, they have a very basic American Chinese menu so I just went with some standard choices. The wonton soup was unremarkable with undercooked wontons, the chow mein was soggy and tasted like it was cooked in a microwave, definitely never touched a wok, no flavor and was possibly old. The Szechuan Chicken WAS old for sure, it was so tough and dry it was like pieces of wood and the sauce tasted like it was corn syrup and nothing else. Even if this food wasn't old and reheated (and possibly spoiled) it would still be horrible because of the lack of seasoning and improper preparation. Needless to say I woke up and threw up a little while later. I'm not a picky eater and I haven't gotten sick from food in years so this felt necessary to review. Don't do it . read more

After passing by China Kitchen for years on my way home and to various other places in the area I finally decided to give it a try. When a friend wanted to meet up for lunch I suggested that we meet here. I had heard drastically different reviews of this restaurant with one person telling me it was great and how they brought their large family and the other telling me it was so bad and flavorless that they couldn't even finish their meal threw away their leftovers! We came around 1pm on a rainy Saturday, there were quite a bit of people eating which looked like a good sign. We waited while a table was cleaned and were seated within 5 mins. The tables were nice as they had the Chinese Zodiac placed under the glass table top. Upon sitting down we were brought soup, and tea (both of which were very tasty) while we looked over the menu. We decided to order the Combo Appetizer (egg rolls, fried prawns, foil wrapped chicken & bbq pork), Mongolian Beef w/ Chow Mein & Hot Brased Prawns w/ fried rice). The food came out pretty fast and portion sizes were nice & large. EVERYTHING was well seasoned and flavorful. The fried prawns and Mongolian beef were my favorite items. The fried rice was also tasty. I wasn't a fan of the brased Prawns not bc they weren't seasoned but bc they were too sweet for my taste (they had a pepper on the side of them on the menu which is an indication of 'hot & spicy') but they were very sweet almost sweet & sour tasting. The foil wrapped chicken was also a little sweet for me. We were given such large portions of food (we ordered 3 menu items) for only $28.09! The prices and portions sizes are great! I'd definitely go back to try more options off the menu! read more

Listen I've I read a lot of reviews bashing this place because the owners are supposedly rude I think it's more of a language barrier thing. Well to a point English speaking or not the guy is pretty darn Pleasant and the lady is well let's just say she's emotionally pragmatic. Personalities aside I've always gotten a good meal here. They are very accommodating and their food is fairly priced I like them we probably eat here maybe twice a month on a Sunday night we always get it to go we've only eaten there once so I can't really speak intelligently on the "dining" experience. read more

Food quality is consistent even with the pandemic. The Mongolian Beef sauce is not the sauce we are used to but still tasty.   We also enjoy the black bean sauce beef chow fun which is flavorful, black pepper beef which had good amount of beef, and none of the beef had the weird texture you get with some Chinese restaurants. I also like their sautéed mustard greens which was tender and full flavored, and not a usual dish I can find at Chinese restaurants in this area. read more

Last time I ate there I ordered lettuce wraps, which didn't come with much lettuce. When I asked for more they said they would charge me $1 for each additional lettuce leaf.
