Never knew there was a tea house in Pinole. And it's pretty good! Many Asian customers so that was a good sign. A good crowd on Sunday morning they thinned out in the afternoon. Went to King Valley Tea House in Pinole for lunch with family recently and was happy to have them bring us there. They have a good variety of dim sum you check off on what you'd like on the paper and bring it to you by cart. We ordered pork siu mai, chicken wings, Shrimp Dumplings, fried taro dumplings, deep fried shrimp balls, sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf, fried dumplings and lunch specials with sweet and sour pork and mongolian beef. The restaurant seemed to be a well oiled machine from the time we walked in. We were immediately seated during lunch during the week and our orders were taken right away also. Everything was brought to our table quite quickly also.The dim sum we ordered was flavorful and good sized. We were even taken back when our lunch plates arrived on how generous the portions were. Two people could have shared a plate by how large the portions were. Everything was fresh and service was on point. If noise bothers you, it can be quite noisy -especially on Sundays or if there is a large family gathering. You may hear employees yelling to each other in high pitched Chinese or Cantonese voices in what seems louder than necessary. I bring along earplugs just in case. There are public parking lots right there and we have always found the resturaunt clean and the service fast enough. We have eaten there about 10 times, almost not eaten there 3 times and not eaten there twice including today. Let me explain: King Valley "closes at 3pm" but if you arrive between 2:37 and 3:00pm they might let you sit down and eat, or they might say "to-go only". It seems to depend on which employee is at the front desk when you arrive. Today we dined elsewhere as King Valley wouldn't let us dine in at 2:37 pm. read more

It is always packed on the weekends during dim sum time. My parents, who are pretty picky about Chinese food, will ask to come here to eat. The menu is very extensive and they serve both dim sum and your traditional entrees. Also the online menu isn't always accurate, it may be best to call especially for the dim sum menu For the dim sum: the fried shrimp dumplings are a MUST. Delicious crispiness packed with a yummy shrimp stuffing. It's also served with a wonderful dipping cream. The steamed shrimp dumplings are also great along with the shu mai. Have never been all that impressed with the custard tarts, there not bad but also not great. The spring rolls are forgettable. Love their Kung Pao entrees, you can never go wrong w/ shrimp, beef or chicken. Just the perfect amount of spiciness served in an array of mixed vegetables topped with/ an abundance of peanuts. I've seen a lot of places mess up sweet & sour and King Valley does it right. I've had both their sweet & sour chicken and pork and it's fried just right in a good sauce. Went here not too long ago. We had their salt and pepper pork ribs, honey walnut prawns, Mongolian beef, the house special chow fun, mixed vegetables, and beef chow fun. The salt and pepper pork ribs were very good. Loved the crunch of the batter and the tenderness of the pork. The meat was seasoned perfectly with the salt and pepper. The jalapeños gave this dish a nice spice. The honey walnut prawns were not too bad. The prawns were pretty juicy. The condensed milk sauce was pretty sweet. The honey walnuts were like dessert and gave this dish a nice crunchy texture. The Mongolian beef was pretty good. The meat was very tender and the flavor was not too spicy. Loved the hint of sweetness. The veggies in the dish gave it a nice assortment of colors. The house special chow fun was okay. The noodles were chewy. The dish had beef, chicken, shrimp, and squid. Wished that we had more beef. The dish also had some green onions and bean sprouts for that nice crunchy texture. The flavors overall were okay. The mixed vegetables were much needed to balance out our meal. Broccoli, bok choy, zucchini, carrots, snow peas, and cauliflower were mixed with a nice blend of cooking oil and salt. I love coming back to my hometown to have dinner with my family at local spots that are comforting and warm the soul. After a cocktail at Pear Street, we walked over to King Valley Tea House for dim sum/dinner. I have yet to come here for dim sum on the weekends after the Pinole Farmers Market (what a dreamy Saturday that sounds like!), but love any chance I can get to have a bao bun or two. And the fact they have "dinner dim sum" is an incredibly cool talking point. Lots of items ordered, but overall highlights were the steamed chicken buns and dry sautéed string beans for dim sum fun, and on the regular menu potstickers, sesame chicken, and the Hong Kong-style crispy pan-fried noodles. I haven't had these noodles for years, and they truly hit the spot. Always presented in a glass serving dish, these crispy noodles are served on a bed of gravy with bok choy, other vegetables & proteins, and when mixed together, a hearty classic. Hands down one of my favorite noodle dishes..the way the gravy coats every noodle makes me just so incredibly happy. No noodle left behind! All other dishes were solid, flavorful, and did the trick. The owners are so friendly and service was quick and efficient. Very large space which I can only imagine fills up quickly on weekends. Dined in as a little treat after the work week. I specialty came for dumpling service but I would definitely come back for more, as they gave such a great impression! Service was fast and excellent, tea was delicious, and all of my dumplings came out hot, fresh and delicious. New favorite family dim sum spot! This restaurant is a convenient location for us, halfway between my mom's house and my aunt's. However it is also great for more reasons. It has its own free parking lot which is really nice. It does get busy on Sundays but most of the time there is not a wait and there's plenty of seating. Staff is friendly. They greeted us we walked in, kept our waters refilled, answered our questions about the menu, checked in to see if we had everything, and said thanks on the way out. I bet when they get busier it is hard to get help. Food came out pretty quick. There are a few carts that roam around but mostly you order off the paper menu. The interior is nothing fancy, but it is spacious and clean. We got all of our usuals and everything was right on point. We ate so quickly that I forgot to take pictures. Be warned that it may be hard to find parking on days when there's also the local farmer's market being run. The food here is solid. Good dim sum that you would expect. I've been looking for a yum cha spot near Vallejo and this was the closest I could find on yelp. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the dim sums and other food items we ordered. We had an assortment of dim sums, chicken feet, pork spareribs, sticky rice, duck and calamari. Didn't care too much for the calamari but everything else was so good. The food came out so quickly and the servers were really friendly, answering questions about the menu and suggesting foods to order. We came in on Memorial Day and were seated immediately.
