I just move to Las Vegas from California so I would like to think I have a well rounded knowledge on asian cuisine. On social media I've been seen this restaurant "China Mama" been popping up when I browse my Instagram, so today I was set on having lunch at this establishment. When I walked through doors, I was fascinated at the interior design of the place, the walls, tables and lighting because it had an atmosphere of exclusivity in a foodie type of way however at the same time the staff and service was impeccable and very welcoming to newcomers. What I noticed when I sat down is the teapot, the plates and the menu, the reason why I mentioned those things is because in a typical chinese restaurant, you see a white/red plastic plate with a chinese design on the front of the plate with teapots and teacups that have some residue on them. Along with a sticky menu book that sounds like velcro when you pull the pages apart. Rest assured because the dining set at this restaurant is nothing like that and the level of detail the manager or owner put it in must be applauded because it displays that they care for their customers and uphold the highest level of sanitation. The plates and the teapot were immaculate and also the menu was colorful and clear where I didn't know what dish I wanted to pick because I was so astonished with how vibrant the menu was designed. For new restaurants I always conduct my version of a litmus test regarding food. For chinese restaurants I order fried rice and whatever special pork dish they have on hand to gauge the type of quality I can expect. I will say this, I've had homecook fried rice, traditional fried rice and my goodness is this fried rice really spot on when it comes to flavor, seasoning and cook temperature. I order the shrimp egg fried rice and everything was delicious from the star of the dish being the shrimp to the vegetables. The blend was so harmonious that I was silently eating and lost track of time due to it being cooked to perfection. Secondly, I ordered the twice cooked pork with spicy sauce and the tenderness of the pork was so heavenly I indulge in more after more, even when I was full, my body was pushing my hand to eat more because I subconsciously didn't want the sensation of the umami to fade. I have never had a pork dish like that in a chinese restaurant. It's a far drive from where I currently reside so ontop of the lunch I had I decided to order to dish for to go so I can have the experience again for dinner. I order the pan fried pork dumplings along with signature salted egg yolk prawns. As much as I want to encourage people to try the restaurants I share on reviews, I secretly want to keep this restaurant to myself and just keep it hidden so it dosent get packed in the near future where I have to fight over reservations. That being said, whomever is looking for the best pound for pound chinese restaurant in Las Vegas? CHINA MAMA is THE best hidden secret in this city. It was a wonderful experience and it will not be the last time I visit this extraordinary establishment. Update: I took my mom, brother and sister to try this restaurant that I have been endorsing. Let me tell you how the popularity of this restaurant skyrocketed. I got there at 11:30, put my name down for a wait list not even 5 minutes has passed and 4 more people came in to put their name down. After a 20 minute wait there was an additional 12 names that were on the wait list. Service was so fast, and the pan fried pork buns was informed to us that it would take 45 min to a hour to make, of course we ordered appetizer, entrées, to be served to us when it's ready, so in the mean time we can have some food in our belly before the pork buns but that gors to show how popular that food item is and how its taken off. My friends and I came here for a Saturday since we were craving some Chinese food. Parking was a bit difficult to find, but we got lucky with a spot. We decided to get order a bunch of dishes to share among the five of us. We got the mapo tofu, Beijing beef, and other dishes that I can't remember off the top of my head. This one i liked better than noodle papa. Ive been here so many times but finally found the pics for them. Lol! Its super popular here for reasons I don't understand. The food isnt crazy flavorful but the dishes that I love, hits the spot every time. The won tons are good and my favorite scallion pancakes is just yum! The fried rice isn't too bad either. I don't come here often as I end up waiting a bit, but it has been years since I've been here. It feels like a place where you just eat quickly and leave even if sections of the restaurant looks fancy, i still get the feeling of that chinese rush. I thought of this place bc they've become famous now with a location on the strip called "spring" by China mama and another at the palace station with their original "china mama". While it is a primarily American Chinese restaurant, they have traditionally Chinese food choices that are sure to please all kinds of crowds. When I made a reservation for 10 people, they were accommodating to our group even when we were a few minutes late. It was a clean establishment and with excellent service. All the things we ordered were flavorful and I would order these dishes again. Went to China Mama in Shanghai Plaza on a Wednesday around 5:30 p.m. I have been to the one at Palace station and I feel the portions and the prices were better here. The one in Palace station definitely feels more upscale, but this one was still really nice. The decor and atmosphere were really nice with high ceilings, comfortable seating, and a window where you can watch into the kitchen, which added a cool touch. One thing to know is that reservations are only available ahead of time for groups of six or more. Luckily, it wasn't too busy when we arrived. We put our name on the list and were about fifth in line. The wait estimate said 12 minutes, but we were seated in closer to eight. We ordered the Mama's Special Fried Rice, stir-fried green beans, salt and pepper pork chops, and honey walnut shrimp. The green beans and walnut shrimp were definitely the highlights for me. Both were really flavorful and cooked well. The fried rice was good, just not anything especially memorable compared to the other dishes. The salt and pepper pork chops were decent, but I personally would've liked them a little crispier and a bit saltier. Service was good overall, and the atmosphere made it a really enjoyable dinner spot. Definitely a place I'd go back to try more dishes. read more

I have been wanting to go to China Mama for so long. I finally made it and I was happy that all the recommendations were true. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted and seated. They were friendly and attentive. We ordered some appetizers. The pork soup dumplings. It was filled with a delicious broth. The pancake with scallions was simple but crispy and tasty. The Salt and Pepper Pork Ribs were airy with a real good batter and seasoned just right. Mamas Special Chow Mein was tasty as well, lots of chunks of protein including chicken, beef & shrimp - with chewy noodles! There was enough food for the 6 of us to eat since the portions were generous, and we got extra rice to sop up all the extra sauce from the eggplant & tofu dishes! My family visits Vegas regularly from San Diego and every time we do, we have to stop by here. Not only do we love it, but my boys also insist on coming here. As usual, the food was incredible. We ordered beef soup, crispy beef, chicken chow mien (soft), cauliflower on pot (no pork), sesame chicken, and of course steam rice. They used small pieces of slice beef instead of ground beef which was interesting. The aroma and taste of the cilantro in the soup was excellent! I thought this place was really good and had really good wok hei. The food was all really well quality and was super flavorful. Very crave-able items. Our favorite surprising was the crispy pork and mapo tofu was our second. The restaurant is super clean and set up with Chinese inspo decor but also spacious and modern seating. Most of the dishes we got, I personally wouldn't have ordered them but I know Americans don't like breaking routine. With that said, when you come here make sure you get on the waitlist immediately. We ordered Chinese broccoli, pork soup dumpling, mapo tofu, fish fillet with ginger and green onions, Mongolian beef, crispy pork with mama special sauce, and crispy duck. The pork soup dumplings are decent but they're nothing compared to Din Tai Fung. I did enjoy the signature crispy pork with mama special sauce. I liked the texture and the flavor. Very savory sauce. The mapo tofu, fish fillet, Mongolian beef, and crispy duck were very average. It's about the same as back home, so nothing extraordinary. Prices are not bad because you do get a generous amount of food. Service was good, we were well taken care of. Overall 3 out of 5. I come to China mama about once per month. It has been my go to Chinese restaurant for years. This last time the shrimp cucumber dumplings is succulent subtle and delish. Mongolian beef is full of flavor and packed dish full. Wish their quality was consistently good as my prior honey walnut shrimp last time was hard as a rock, and overcooked. Reduced from 15/20ct to 30/40ct. My heart still love this place and understand food price has gone up. But I'd don't want to sacrifice quality if it means $1-2 extra. read more

We come here more often because the wait isn't a long as the one in the Shanghai plaza; however, their parking lot isn't any better either. They share a parking lot with a karaoke spot, hot pot restaurant, café moda and other restaurants which makes it difficult to find parking sometimes. Amazing!! Another win for China Mama. This is my favorite Chinese food in the valley. Delish!! Our friends grabbed a 5:30 reservation on a Saturday night. We walked in 15 minutes early and they seated us. No problem. We got the hot and sour soup (amazing), pot stickers, shrimp egg rolls, crispy beef, China Mama House Special Lo Mein, Sesame Chicken and the winner: Dan Dan Noodles. When China Mama dropped their breakfast menu, I knew I had to go. The valley lacks places that offer Chinese styled breakfast (non-dim sum). My husband and I decided to check out their menu on a Saturday morning when their breakfast menu was still new. I think we got there at around 9AM and we were pretty surprised at how busy it was. Despite that, we were seated fairly quicky and was given the menus. Unfortunately, that was the only quick part of our meal. We decided to try several items: Century egg and pork rice porridge - aka congee. This was okay. I think their style isn't really to my preference. The pork they used was shredded versus the strips. The century egg typically is in bigger chunks but theirs looked like it blended in with the congee. Fresh soy milk - pretty good! They ask if you want sugar and they'll get it for you. They might take two business days to get back to you though. Jumbo Chinese cruller - aka Chinese donut except theirs is like three times the size of a regular one. You can dip this in soy milk to eat, dip it in congee, or just eat it by itself. Unfortunately, I did not think this was done well. The texture was wrong and it almost seemed like they overcooked it. Potstickers - pretty good. I'd say they were pretty normal, nothing out of the ordinary. Steamed pork buns - these were pretty good as well! Nothing out of the ordinary but good flavor and very comforting. The service was extremely slow. When we first sat down, there were only two people serving on the floor. Getting water took time, getting napkins took time, etc. They might not have expected such a crowd for breakfast. There were items that were sold out as well so I would recommend going early in the morning to get the option at the full menu. Overall, decent but I don't know if I would go back mainly because my favorite breakfast items are the Chinese donut and congee and the ones at China Mama were just OK. read more

Phenomenal food! Beautifully decorated and great service. Very reasonable prices for the amount of food you get too. When we walked in it was about 5pm and dinner the rush had not begun yet. We were a party of 5 and were seated right away. Our server took our drink order right away. After reviewing the menu we placed our order and our server was polite and took the orders with no issues. Within 5 min plates began to be delivered hot and tasty looking. First cane the Beef Rolls for the table. BOMB! It's like a flakier tortilla filled with thin cut steak and rolled up served with a dark hoisinish sauce on the side. I didn't even need the sauce bc it was so good all by itself. I think I was the most excited about this dish. We also ordered the Mongolian Beef, Fried Rice, Chowmein, stir fried vegetables and their famous Crispy Beef. EVERYTHING was SO GOOD! The Crispy Beef was really good. Definitely not diet friendly bc it breaded, super fried and then drenched in a sweet amd tangy sauce but it's oh so good. Favorites: - Smashed cucumber - they give you a huge portion for a good price! Very crunchy, refreshing, and garlic-y - Fried dough stick - more of a doughy texture. Crisp on the outside and perfect for dipping in the soymilk - Soymilk - standard soymilk I don't recommend the scallion pancake with egg.. it just wasn't crispy and didn't really taste like much.
