The staff was super friendly and fast. And the food was amazing. The beef and potatoes was so good.

I hadn't been there in a while so decided to try them again. The good: Our order was ready quickly. The egg rolls were decent. The fried rice was okay but salty. But - the sesame chicken and orange chicken was horrible - gristly and tough. Very little hciken and mostly breading. Then, the bottom 1/4 of both containers was filled with soggy cabbage and onions - I know they do that to catch grease - but this was too much. We will continue to leave Chaska to find decent Asian food! read more

If you go in with the expectation that the food is catering to people from Minnesota, you'll be fine. If you want an authentic experience, you'd better keep driving north until you hit Lake St. Sampled this place per a co-worker's recommendation. Most of the dishes were sauced fairly heavily. Dishes on 10/24/19 at lunch included black pepper pork, general chicken, sweet & sour chicken, egg rolls, egg foo young, chicken fried rice, and Mandarin chicken. They also had a bastardized version of kung pao chicken. The celery was cut in thin strips, which made it tolerable. There was slightly less than a smattering of peanuts. Hot and sour soup was good; not much in the way of tofu or mushrooms which is my preference. Good balance of vinegar and stock. Egg rolls were good as well and actual hot mustard is available. The older Chinese lady working the dining room never did bring me my tea, but at least she refilled water regularly and cleared plates. Felt like she was rushing me out though after I was on plate two and the check was dropped off. An inoffensive experience overall; I'll probably come back through every so often. read more

At one time the food was great, no longer. After many years as a customer I have noticed the food quality and taste has been poor as time continues Example, the Main dish had missing ingredients and the sauce was nothing more than watery beef broth and the egg foo young was burnt. This place has has its ups and downs over the past few years, and it's definitely got an up now. I've ordered twice in the last couple of weeks and it's really good food. The moo goo gai pan was excellent - great variety of crisp vegetables, not just a big pile of chicken ; seemed to miss the mushrooms, which is a major component of the dish, but had plenty of others and tasted so good I didn't even realize they were missing/few til I started writing the review. The chicken was velveted and cooked beautifully. Sauce was light and not muddy - perfect, and the right amount (many restaurants don't include enough for my taste). Egg rolls were excellent, crisp, hot and made the trip home without getting soggy. I can't say the same for the fried dumplings, unfortunately. They were still hot, but got very soggy in the container and the dipping sauce was forgotten. The meatball mix, however, was really good, and the dough was cooked through. Egg drop soup is likewise very good, but could use some scallions sprinkled as a finishing touch. read more

It's really more like 3.5, but for price and friendliness, it's worth rounding up. We grab takeout here maybe once a month or so, and we did try the buffet one Saturday recently when we didn't feel like driving to a bigger place a few towns over. It was limited, but they kept the food fresh and the kids were happy (which is just as important as me feeling well fed!). Overall, it's pretty standard Chinese-American takeout food - albeit a little milder than the flavors I'm used to back east. We've tried a number of things off the menu, including the egg rolls, soup, sweet & sour chicken, shrimp & snow peas, orange beef ... nothing has disappointed yet. The place is as dated as the strip mall it's in, but it's generally clean and like I said, everyone is friendly. Portions are great for the price, and while they always seem to have customers, they manage to have our food ready on time every time. I guess my only real lament is that they don't deliver for those times I'm feeling EXTRA lazy. But then again, it's not a bad spot to have just down the street. read more

China Pagoda has been in Chaska for a number of years. Quality of food is okay, but is very Americanized. At the time I went there, the lo mein had spaghetti noodles as a substitute. The service and attentiveness appear to be above average, and it is almost always busy. I wouldn't recommend it for those who have expereinced and enjoy more authentic chinese food. read more

Decent food, good-sized portions. Complaint - ordered a Diet Coke (with free refills) and was given a can of frozen Diet Coke. Not being a complainer, I mentioned it hoping the server would bring us another that we could drink. Nope. Laughed it off and said it must be too cold. Wow, thank you for the news! The place was empty at 6PM on a Tuesday night so the service was prompt, but this just didn't fly for my wife who is a Diet Coke fiend. As soon as I entered the restaurant , this horrible moldy or something smell was overwhelming! It was not food. It was like an old dirty smell.. Awful! Regardless, I decided to try some take out. Sweet & sour chix & rice. It was horrible. Chix was hard & dry. Fried rice was tasteless. I prefer Rising Dragon. Cant believe people eat here especially in house. I use to live in Chaska and LOVED their wonton soup and cream cheese wontons. I would come in get it at least once a month after I got paid. Today Monday July 15 I had happen to be in town for a doctors appointment and decided to treat myself to some of their soup and wontons. I moved out of town about 2 years ago so I was extremely excited about this. I had googled the hours and it had said 11 am - 9 pm. Even more excited now. Got to the restaurant and the doors are locked and the lights are off. Even the little open sign. I live about 45 minutes from town now. And DO NOT have a decent Chinese restaurant by my house. You can just about imagine my disappointment. Next time I think I won't go by google and call instead of driving 3 miles out of my way. FYI owners might want to update your hours on google and your front door so you don't loose customers. read more

I have always loved China Pagoda. Over the years, they have changed owners a few times but I have been continually satisfied with the quality of their food. I almost always order the food for pick up. The few times I have eaten in the restaurant, have been for lunch and the service was fine. The address the other two reviews: OF COURSE the food is Americanized. This is suburban, practically rural, Minnesota. I am in no way surprised that they were not well versed on vegan dining. Give them a break. What they do, they do well. ALWAYS order the Tiger Pork. Sooooo good. The fired wontons, and steamed dumplings are also exceptional. read more

Best Chinese Place. The owners are so nice and friendly always in a good mood. The buffet is so good and filling and the food is fresh and warm. Pretty much all of the food here is sub-par at best. I like to support local places but about 90% of other Chinese restaurants I have been to are far better. If you want real good Asian cuisine take the extra drive to go to a PF Changs, Hunan Restaurant etc. read more

This place is absolutely wonderful for a small city Chinese restaurant. The buffet is great - not like your typical strip-mall Chinese restaurant buffet - everything tastes fresh and the meat is tasty. They have great cream cheese won-tons and their General's sauce is yummy. The service is also always excellent. I've had their food for over 10 years and every time I try other little Chinese restaurants, only to be disappointed, I'm grateful we have such a great place right in town! I think the other two negative reviewers were really ridiculous and unreasonable. Of course it's Americanized, most suburban restaurants are, also it's hardly common to have Vegan in small suburban strip-malls ...seriously. read more

The sweet and sour chicken - spot on! The chicken fried rice, not bad but I have eaten better. The General Tso Chicken, absolutely terrible. The sauce is black and it has no taste! There was always a line of people waiting for food while I waited my 25 minutes for my take out order - so people like the place, it just varies based on what you order. Lunch special... you get what you pay for. At $6.95 you certainly don't feel as if you overpaid. There's very little options due to the fact that there only one lane for food. The food that was there didn't taste fresh. The cream cheese in the deep fried wantons was not melted. The dumplings were runny. Most items were running low and the 1 server couldn't keep up with the flow of people. The only redeeming factor was the price and the deep fried rice and pork lo mein noodles. read more

We've been going there for years and the food has always been good. However the latest owner has some serious challenges with quality of customer service. We always order take out and the last 4 times they have gotten the order wrong each time. Last time they gave us the wrong food. We called, explained the error and were told we could have a credit on our next visit. When I went in to pick up today's order, the man said 'No Credit - we never called and we didn't bring the food back'. Despite repeated attempts at trying to get them to honor their word, their last response was 'I don't care'. WOW. For a measly $5 credit, this business has lost a customer that averages twice a month visits. Guess we'll have to wait for the ownership to change again. We could use another decent Chinese restaurant in town. Oh.. They also got the order wrong again. At least they're consistent. read more

I've been going to the Pagoda for over ten years and I have yet to be disappointed! I can't find another place yet that serves a dish even remotely similar to their Tiger Pork, my absolute favorite! Their cream cheese won tons are to die for as well as the egg rolls and hot and sour soup. As for the vegan thing, go somewhere else, it's a Chinese place, not a specialty we serve you to your every whim restaurant! It's going to be Americanized as well, your in America, not China! You take what you can get! If you want it to be authentic, go back to your own country and get it done right! This is the best place I have been to from service to food to atmosphere and freshness! I had china Pagoda. Who knows what possessed me, their side dishes such as the fried rice and lo mein...I don't even know what I got but it defiantly wasn't those things. I have been to this restaurant many times in the past and it has been fairly good. BUT the last time I ate here the environment and the service were horrible. They open at 11:00 and at noon they hadn't turned on the heat. It was freezing we all kept our coats on. We were the only customers at noon, place was empty. I had angry eyes flashed at me and a verbal scolding for not knowing what kind of egg fu yung I wanted. Our waiter was the rudest person. Will NEVER go back. You have lost a good customer! read more

We've gotten take out from here a number of times over the years, it seems to be getting worse rather than better. Starting with the basics - dumplings and egg rolls. Dumplings were overcooked. The edges were hard. Not tasty. However, the egg rolls were worse. I can only guess how many days those things were sitting under a heat lamp, being reheated over and over. I can only imagine the conversation in the kitchen - "Ooh, pop those in the oven, we might have an order for them! Oh, no, they're not going out, back to the heat lamp." Now, one would hope that things can just go up from there, right? Might want to make a back up peanut butter and jelly sandwich at this point because it's not going to improve. Kung Pao Shrimp. Do you know what Kung Pao means? Years ago, we wrote "Kung Pao = Too many peanuts" on our takeout menu. After tonight's meal, we confirmed that is still exactly what it means. Shrimp, a few peppers and 8000 peanuts. On second thought, maybe you can make your own peanut butter. Onto the other entree, Mandarin Chicken. This one is normally a safe bet. However, the baby corn in this batch just tasted weird, which is very sad since that's one of my favorite parts. When I started this review, I was going to give them one star, but after thinking about it, it's been a while since they've forgotten things for our takeout order, so I gave them two since they seem to be better about that. But the actual food? Don't bother. read more
