I came here and ordered an egg drop soup and some spr ok ng roll; it was originally a takeout order but after I paid and while I was waiting, said to myself it's cold outside, I'll just sit here and eat it. When I told the server that I was gonna sit, she told me no I couldn't because my order is takeout and only eat on customers could sit at the table. I felt like asking for my money back and leaving but I decided to get my food and not cause an issue. I've never been told not you cannot eat our food at one of our tables because it's a to go order. Avoids this place like a plague. First off, the portion is dismal but that's not the bad part. They serve stale 'fried rice' that's been either sitting around or leftover from other customers. We have ordered from here several times, and we really enjoyed the food. The only problem I have with this place, is I think they put a little too much sugar in the food. As a diabetic, I have to be very careful with food that is made with sugar, starches, carbohydrates. Every time I've ordered my blood sugars go out of control. So just use that as a heads up to my fellow diabetics out there. Is it gonna stop me from ordering from there again, absolutely not. It's a great little treat every once in a while. Post Isaias tropical storm , without power for 2 days and no generator, I threw out all food in our refrigerator. We were working on the house so on my trip to ACE HARDWARE, I picked up a menu from China Palace. I Called them around 9 PM for delivery, food was delivered within 20 mins and it was still piping hot!!! The whole transaction (order via phone for delivery) was extremely efficient. Food: we ordered small beef Lo mein, general Tsao chicken and spicy bourbon chicken. Beef Lo mein was great. General Tsao was all white meat with thin batter. Excellent! Bourbon chicken was ... meh ... A very typical Chinese takeout taste. Nothing spectacular on either spectrum. What I liked was the efficiency. I appreciated the person on the call repeating my order. Fast delivery. Hot food that you expect from a neighborhood Chinese takeout place. Back when we could dine indoors, this was always one of my favorite spots. Crisp white tablecloths, courteous service, wonderful food, and quite affordable. Delivery is just as good. The orders are always accurate and delivered in a reasonable time. I wish they would sign on for DoorDash, because the platform that are using can get expensive and I'd rather allocate that $ to a generous tip for the driver. Favorites include the roast pork with vegetables - the vegetables are always crisp and delicious, and the fried pork dumplings. Dessert selection is a bit skimpy, but if you have any room left, Carvel and Ralph's Italian ices are close by. read more

Went to lunch Monday. Good lunch menu. Good food. I had spicy bourbon chicken. It was fresh & tasty. Denise had her favorite, Sesame Chicken. It was also tasty, not dough balls like some places. Early in the pandemic, you could only pick up, so you would have to drive back to get your complete order. Lately, they are delivering and act like it is unreasonable that they make a 2nd trip to deliver WHAT YOU HAVE PAID FOR! I heard a few times the excuse "the lady in the back" to which I finally said around the 3rd time if your employee is consistently messing up your orders either train them or fire them. Tonight, I waited 45+ minutes for a delivery many who NEVER SHOWED UP... and the person who answered the phone just said "we are busy"... I guess the fact I paid for a diner my family could not eat because your staff left out items we PAID FOR isn't a good reason to send a delivery man back? God I miss this place. Ya know how there's this rumor that in predominately jewish areas, you have really good chinese food? I suppose thats true - I live in Long Beach and we have a LARGE jewish population - from the dudes with the hats and strings, to non practicing. I can easily find Chinese Food on Christmas day... but not like China Palace. I LOVE THIS PLACE and I miss it and I wish they delivered to Long Beach. Would my food be cold? Sure. Would it be good? Hell yes, I even eat this cold when I don't have to! I love that I've been coming here since I was knee high to a grasshopper...and the decor (and employees) have not changed. These kids have set the bar high when it comes to chinese take out. Sure, there's a debate if Uncle Dais is better. I'll clear it up for you: its not. Their shrimp toast is great (everywhere else I've eaten it, its a greasy, nasty mess), the chicken fried rice is off the hook, and if you get steamed dumplings, they make em right AND their sauce is banging. Hint: eat the dumplings, pour your chicken fried rice into the tin with the dumpling sauce, enjoy. Their spare ribs are meaty and delicious. The filling had no flavor and the casing was so thick, it was like eating a white bread hero with a tiny, cafeteria-quality meatball in the middle. I've ordered from CP for many years as it's always been very good and because my favorite Chinese restaurant is further away and doesn't deliver. The last few times I've ordered food from CP including last night, the food was just not good. I've given them more than enough tries to no avail. The food arrived warm (last night) previously it arrived cold. and the quality was really not there. I ended up throwing it away and that's the 3rd time I've done that. Sorry, but never again. I ordered pork fried rice- way too many onions, beef and broccoli- not fresh, egg roll-meh, lukewarm and very oily. Shrimp egg roll- all cabbage and 2 tiny shrimp should be called a cabbage roll. Service is above average comparing others Chinese take out restaurant. The most important thing is that food are tasted so good! Being that there aren't many good Chinese takeout restaurants in the DC area, as soon as I got off the bus from DC to NY for Thanksgiving, the only thing I was craving was China Palace chinese food. There is something special about this place if you want quick, easy, cheap takeout. You can't beat the prices, you can't beat the taste - especially of the chicken wings which have a nice asian style flavoring on them that's not overwhelming - and you can't beat the speedy service. I've been going here for years and honestly, I only found 1 takeout place in the DC area that came close to tasting like NY takeout chinese. Unfortunately that place closed. Now DC is littered with a lot of okay chinese takeout place that are all over priced and have bland tasting food. In a word...B L A N D! Without question the most flavorless, boring food in the area. It couldn't be less flavorful if it tried. For 25 years or more it was a decent-to-good neighborhood Cantonese/Shanghainese place, with the most reasonable of prices. A few years ago the old family sold the place and this place now bears almost no resemblance to the original. The new folks cleaned it up and redecorated, but sadly it has been no help. Cons: They food quality, partitions and taste on servings from soup, appetizer and entree were sub-par. The prices have gone up drastically in the last 5 years. A dinner for two used to run us maybe $20.00 to $25.00. Over $35.00 now. Our server was just as bad with an attitude like she was doing us a favor. Every request we asked for came with a look of disgust. The Ambiance is terrible and are very old looking. Very disappointed. Placed my first delivery order with this restaurant and boy was I disappointed. They obviously did not heat the oil sufficiently and so the scallion pancakes and the General Tso's chicken were inedibly soggy. I called the restaurant shortly after I received the order to inform them and they just said they would "tell the kitchen." No offer to replace the items or give me a credit. Very shortsighted.
