We order regularly from Happy Garden, for many years. Slowly menu items are changing and NOT for the better. The chicken wings have gotten so small, they used to overfill the wax lined bag, now the chicken wings have hardly any meat. The eggrolls are different, thinner and don't hit the spot. The Hot & Sour soup is has an unexpected sweetness to it. The General Taos shrimp are 1/2 the size of what they used to be, with an inch thick undercooked batter. We were happy they have tampered with the Chicken and Broccoli, that was very good. The prices are way up, the quality is way down, the town needs another Chinese take out to compete, we had 4, now we have one. read more

So this is where everyone is getting chines takeout up here non stop locals ordering and picking up. We went with General Tsos combo and Lo Mein. Fast, efficient, plenty pf flavor, ridiculous low prices compared tp Syosset or the rest of LI as are the other Chinese places up here. No fresh duck sauce and a smalllll but crospy skinned egg roll. I like the food here but I am never going back since they cheated us. We ordered Chicken with black bean sauce, a small order of spare ribs and a quart of soup. It came to $29 which didn't make sense since the small order of spare ribs (usually 5 ribs), came with 4 ribs and rice. The order of chicken was half the size of a regular entree and came in the same container with rice. We called up and they told us that the spare ribs were $13 - which makes no sense since a small order of spareribs is $7 (and has an extra rib). This is our goto takeout Chinese restaurant and in my opinion the best within Oyster Bay to Glen Cove. It's a no nonsense Mom & Pop shop really setup for takeout with consistently great food. Fast and friendly service, no delivery but it's worth a quick pickup. We've tried a lot of their menu here are some of our favorites. * Beef & Mushrooms (fresh mushrooms) * House Special or Roast Pork Egg Foo Young * Fried Half Chicken (try it) * Kung Pao Chicken (Sliced) * Fried Wontons (Must order, no better w/ginger sauce) * Roast Pork Lo Mein Their pork fried rice is notably excellent with plentiful chunks of roast pork. For years I've been searching for good Chinese takeout in the Brookville/Glen Cove/Old Westbury/Oyster Bay/Hicksville/Syosset/Woodbury area... yes... all those areas. This is hands down the best Chinese takeout. Everything we ordered was delicious. Shrimp lomein was not dry at all, well seasoned. Orange chicken is the best I've had in NY. Beijing House in Syosset is really good, but it's better saved for a nice sit down meal. Fukee in Bethpage is also really good, but I'll have to go with Happy Garden because it's much closer to me. read more

I believe they have recently come under new ownership with an entire new staff....what once was the absolute best Chinese takeout has become disappointing to say the least. There is was less meat in the dishes, it's basically loaded with rice. This was the only Chinese food I really liked but sadly it's not the same anymore. My husband said his sesame chicken wasn't all that great, hardly any sauce and way less chicken. We love this joint. A hole in the wall Chinese take out the food is outstanding and the service is excellent. The food is fresh and delicious. You cannot good wrong with anything on the menu. We've lived on the North Shore for 25 years and have tried every Chinese restaurant from Great Neck to Cold Spring Harbor and this joint is the best. I got take out and the workers are always helpful and nice. Fran shares her hospitality with our family and the cooks always help us carry our food back to the car. The lomaine was perfect and the price was more than fair. The crispy beef is my favorite because of the sauce and the crispyness of it. The dumplings are always perfect and the extra tub on the house was very nice. I've been to China Town and this is better than every place there. Every thing is freshly made and all ingredients are fresh and not made with preservatives. This is the best Chinese place in Long Island and NYC. You have to try. read more

This is the best Chinese food in Oyster Bay. This is the only spot I go when I am hungry for some Asian Cuisine. They give you a good amount of chicken and they put a nice sauce over the vegetables. I also like the Crab Ragoons they make. They fold them into little balls that are filled with crab and cream cheese. Out of all three Chinese places in Oyster Bay, Happy Garden should be your only stop. The only negative is that they are really small, I never stay to eat and I hate not staying to eat my Chinese food. Also they have a new type of delivery service, it's the "maybe service!" Maybe delivery today, maybe not today. When you call for delivery sometimes they tell you "no delivery" and sometimes they say "ok 20 minute!" It's luck of the draw. No matter what the food is always hot, the prices are fair, and they always make your food fast. What more can you ask for. read more

So far after discovering this place, I go here every week. Sometimes I get food from here twice a week. My boyfriend & I absolutely love the food here. We drive from Dix Hills just to get their food. It's super filling & they're on point with everything. I swear, it's the best chinese take out place I've ever tried & I'm very particular with my take out food. My first time at Happy Garden and my last. I found a bug in my food and when I brought it to their attention they refused to acknowledge it. Said it was a spice. You can be the judge. This has been our go to take out, some of our favorite are the bacon wrapped butterfly shrimp. Their Singapore noodles are excellent as is most dishes. Always pleasant to speak too! Was disappointed when they stopped delivering! Same owner for last 25 years. read more

We moved to the area 6 months ago and have found this one to be the best Chinese take-out we've tried so far. Some of the other places around Oyster Bay and Glen Cove were super disappointing. Love the scallion pancakes. The food is consistently good, prices seem fair. While there are 2 tables here, it really is set up for take-out. They pack your stuff in re-used cardboard boxes which is great when you have a large order to carry. read more

In the hamlet there are 3 Chinese food restaurants. Happy Garden is probably the best choice. Second place goes to the one on Lexington. Wouldn't go near mid-China but that's just me. Others opinions differ. The food and service were good. Location was clean and no matter what you order, it always takes 15 minutes. I think this is a Chinese food thing! This is one of those places where I would like to give them 3.5 stars. Their soups are great and their customer service is nice. They are quick with the food but they do not deliver. I have ordered multiple meals from them and unfortunately i find them very mediocre. Not a lot of taste in their chicken entrees. I have tried chicken with broccoli, general tso chicken, shrimp with vegetables, and few other chicken entrees. I wish their meals were as good as their soups. read more
