Quick, easy and good tasting Chinese food. I had the garlic chicken and my wife had the moo goo gai pan. The serving size was very generous. I called and ordered it as take out and the food was timely, hot and fresh. The dining room is not a selling point. I would likely stick to take out. Very affordable and good. I was closer to 3.5 stars but rounded down not feeling this was worthy of a four. Definitely close.

    Here to try it.

This was a quick meal on our first day in town. They had it ready quick ( less than 10 minutes) and that was nice. The sesame chicken was good and the bbq pork fried rice was good too. The wanton soup was not so great, which was a shame because the wantons themselves were good. That's the thing here, they were nice, prompt and the food was okay... But that's it, it was just okay, not great, not bad, just okay. If you're in a hurry this place will suffice, but if you have time, there is probably better to be had.

Gross. The egg rolls have a strange sweet flavor in the wrapper. The beef was gray colored, smelled foul, and tasted old?? Very unpleasant all around. Even something as simple as vegetable fried rice was bland and the rice wasn't cooked fully. We ended up getting food from somewhere else and will absolutely not be back.

Best Chinese food I have ever had. Ever is awesome! Favorites are kung pao chicken or shrimp, fried rice, broccoli beef, hunan chicken or shrimp, shrimp egg foo young. Their egg rolls are addicting. Cheese wontons and steamed dumplings are also great. Sweet sugar biscuits are good. Very nice lady at the counter. Food is prepared so fast.

Best Chinese takeout in the area. They temporarily shut down due to COVID-19 for about 2 months but just opened back up and have made a lot of safe customizations to ensure that everyone's health is their 1st priority. After ordering from this place for a long time the owners begin to remember you which is a really nice touch. The food is always fresh. We picked up our food after 15 minutes and by the time we got home it was still steaming. I've never once had cold food or frozen food from here--something I've experienced at almost every other Chinese takeout place in Mckinney. The portions are massive and the cost for 4 dishes, egg rolls and a drink came out to less than $40. I've attached some pictures below of what I got: sweet and sour chicken, cashew chicken, broccoli with shrimp, and crispy beef.

Yum yum YUM!!! First time ordering and will not be the last. Tasty, freshly prepared and delicious. Many items on the menu to satisfy everyone. I am already recommending!

Minus one star for divey/strip mall ambience, but if you're getting take-out, or have a great conversationalist (or a good book) with you, this place is GREAT! Husband got his standard sweet and sour chicken and proclaimed it "first rate". Plentiful container of sweet red sauce provided too which made him very happy. I had chicken fried chicken and the usually dry white meat chicken was TENDER and MOIST!! Amazing!! A mile from the house and this good?! We'll be back weekly!! Latest review 5/31/18 - got the honey chicken. Probably the same base battered dark meat chicken as the sesame and general tso's, but the sauce is just lightly sweet but not spicey or remarkably floral. I wish I could say it was enjoyable but so many pieces were unable to be chewed up enough to swallow; very stringy, heavily battered pieces. Large portion (enough for two) so I'm doubly disappointed that I won't be able to enjoy it again for lunch tomorrow.

Just discovered this little gem. I had the pepper steak and dumplings, I was not disappointed. Egg rolls are also good to go.

Great food. Great prices. Friendly service. Not the nicest or fanciest place in town, but I'm not too worried about that.

All of this to say, consider making the easier dish later so they can be done together or hold meals until they can be served together. There was a long wait between food delivery, drink refills, and check, but in our servers defense: he was the only one serving, and it got busy for lunch. I may try it again when in the area

It was a spicy but doable and full of yum. We also had the beef flat noodle, black bean chicken garlic, rangoons and green beans. When I say everything was cooked perfectly I mean everything. When I started writing the review I had it as 4 stars. I am often hesitant on giving a 5 on my first visit. Due to Ty taking personal accountability and catering to make everything just right I felt the 5 was well deserved. My only feedback is I felt the prices were just a little higher than expected. It was not ridiculous and maybe it is inflation. Regardless their food is good.

My first visit was solo, since I'd been curious for some time. It was just me, a bowl of wonton soup, and some Kung Pao Chicken, and the whole experience felt like I'd been teleported to a cozy spot in San Francisco. Warm ambiance, incredible food, and that "I could sit here for hours" vibe. I ate at the bar, which is by the entrance, people watched and enjoyed my delicious food. Naturally, I went back with a couple friends and my wife... and that's when things escalated. We ordered like we were feeding a small village. Kung Pao (again, because it's that good), House Special Soup Bao, chicken lo mein, pepper chicken, General Tso's chicken, and a bunch of other dishes that I lost track of somewhere between "wow" and "how are we still eating." Every single plate was fantastic. Not just "good for a group order," not just "surprisingly solid," it was legitimately delicious across the board. The table looked like a celebration, and we treated it like one. Every single dish was a great portion size, delicious, and tasted WONDERFUL. By the end, our eyes were definitely bigger than our bellies, but honestly, if you're going to over‑order anywhere, this is the place to do it. I can't wait to go back... though next time I'll try to show at least a little self‑control. No promises. Chef Sun's is officially one of my favorite spots. Great food, great atmosphere, and the kind of consistency that keeps you planning your next visit before you've even left the parking lot. I give this place my Arnold Schwarzenegger - "I'LL BE BACK!"

When we got to out table we didn't know what to expect, The menu was packed with so many options so we tried a few different apps and dishes to share. We went with the popcorn chicken, chicken & shrimp shumai, steamed green beans, and cumin lamb. The popcorn chicken was awesome. Just the experience of it. You're presented with a bouquet of popcorn chicken. The chicken was flavorful and had a nice amount of spice to it. I opted not to add any chilis to my bites as I found the chicken alone to be just the right amount of spice. Would recommend this dish for the experience mainly. The chicken and shrimp shumai was outstanding. One of my friends has a strong dislike of any shrimp dish, but truly loved this. It was perfectly seasoned and so tasty. The steamed green beans were great and had the perfect amount of crunch. While the cumin lamb was seasoned well and tasted great. The only miss was the fried rice. I was honestly surprised that execution was so strong with everything else, but the rice lacked flavor. That said, I'd gladly come to Chef Sun's again.

First, many of the dishes lacked the authenticity. The hot and sour soup wasn't sour at all and was overwhelmed by the flavor of sesame oil. The black bean noodles tasted like instant noodles you could make at home, and we ended up adding black vinegar ourselves just to bring some acidity and balance to the dish. The sweet chili shrimp also didn't taste fresh. At the end of our meal, we literally said "this tasted like Chinese buffet food." The service and dining environment made the experience even worse. Throughout our meal, we constantly heard dishes being slammed around from servers cleaning tables. At one point, something was dropped so hard that dishes shattered across the floor. A trash cart was parked right next to our booth while we were eating, and the staff even started mopping the floor directly in front of us during the lunch rush. I understand that restaurants often hire seasonal staff during the summer, but proper training is still important. The way the dishes were handled throughout our meal was loud, chaotic, and disruptive, making it difficult to enjoy our dining experience. It's unfortunate because our first experience of this restaurant was great, but this visit fell well short of our expectations.
