The chicken in my order was tough. My shrimp and noodles were good. My egg roll was delicious too.

China Pot is a small hole in the wall location built primarily for take out and delivery. I've had fantastic experiences with them for both, so I thought I'd try the dine in. They only had two (2) booths and we snagged one right by the cash register. The staff was SUPER friendly and I could see through to the kitchen and watched them make our food fresh. It all came out steaming hot and delicious. I personally hate tofu but my boyfriend ordered the General Tso's Tofu and no joke it was amazing! We both ate a ton as we were starving and each had another meal left over because the portions are generous. We had a great experience and would recommend to all! read more

Since there is no other good Chinese restaurants nearby, I settle for this, but it's not the best, but it's doable.

Good food and great portions for the price. We ordered a few things: - Sweet and sour chicken. Delicious and the sauce was perfect. We loved that this was the dipping kind, since some places smother the chicken in the sauce beforehand (not a fan). - Orange chicken. Pretty good but not made with the best meat. There were quite a few weird/chewy bits so I'll most likely skip ordering it again, but in terms of flavor, it was great and the orange zest was a nice touch. - Fried rice. Zero complaints. Good stuff. - Veggie lo mein. Not quite flavorful but still good nonetheless. When we ordered this, we made the mistake of getting the veggie chow mein which was just cooked cabbage apparently. We got a call from them asking if we meant to order the cabbage or were looking for the veggies with noodles. We definitely meant the latter so we appreciated that they confirmed our order with us. The mix up must happen quite frequently. I can't comment on their delivery service since we did a pickup but make sure if you want sauces or fortune cookies to grab them at the counter since they didn't provide it in the bag already. We drop by while on a road trip. It's very accessible to the highway. We grabbed some beef broccoli and Kung pao chicken. Everything was made to order so it came out hot and fresh. My boys loved broccoli beef. If we drive through again we will definitely look at this place. read more

Ate here on New Year. Food and soup we're fresh and tasty. Food made it a 5 stars. We dined in and the place is definitely set up for carry out. This meant plastic forks and spoons and paper plates which was odd, but we treated as if we were on picnic and we just had fun. read more

I read the reviews and thought this would be delicious. I was WRONG! I ordered the O 6 wonton soup mixed with egg drop soup. The soup has a gelatinous goo quality. Bland, NO flavor at all. It tastes more like oil soup with egg in it. The wontons in it taste like the pork has gone bad. It was inedible. I also ordered the Cs8 Lemon Chicken and received an overly well done pan fried piece of breast meat. It's chewy like shoe leather and once again no flavor. It was served in a bed of ice berg lettuce. I'm not sure how one could consider this an entree. My husband ordered the sweet and sour chicken that was good. Chicken was moist and tender. My son and daughter ordered the orange chicken. They liked it. So for $47.00 I have nothing to eat. I will be tossing my food in the garbage. Don't bother eating here. read more

Just recently moved back to McKinney, and luckily we found this place! My boyfriend is a Chinese food lover. If there's a Chicken Broccoli dish out there, he's probably tried it. So because of this, we've tried many places only to be "meh"-ed by them. This place is kind of hidden because it's new, the awning has "China Pot" spray painted over the previous business' sign, so at night, you'll most likely pass it without realizing it. They're located in a small strip center right next to a Papa Johns and a Vaper shop. This place has a small dining room, but they're primarily take-out and delivery. The portions are huge, leftovers are worth keeping. They also give a few free-bees, which, of course, who doesn't love free? They've thrown a little extra something in both times we've ordered. So far we've tried the Crab Rangoons, which are delicious! The egg drop and wonton soups are wonderful and the broth is salty and savory. The General Tso's chicken is quite tasty, as is the Mongolian Beef. My boyfriend, of course, loves the Broccoli Chicken, as well as the Moo Shu Pork. This is a place that, to borrow a phrase, "does exactly what it says on the tin." New York-style Chinese, a.k.a. American Chinese that comes in the stereotypical little paper boxes. $6.95 lunch specials, and $7.95 all-day specials, and a wide, wide menu of different rice and noodle dishes. Wife and I were the only ones in the restaurant, due to its just opening and going an hour before they close. The staff was very friendly, though, and our dishes were out very quickly. Both of us loved our meals; they were exactly what we wanted, and it's not nearly as heavy as cheap Chinese food can sometimes be. Coming from NY, we've been looking for a good Chinese take out...it hasn't been easy. Ordered delivery tonight for 6 people, bill was over $100. First, we were sent the wrong chicken dish. Ordered Mongolian chicken, 2 of them...we got some super spicy dish. Ok, whatever. The crispy beef was good, but overly sweet. Sesame chicken was good. Crab Rangoon was good. Ribs were just not good. Shrimp and cashew...meh. Lo mein...meh. Fried rice, meh. Overall, it didn't blow us away. Plus the delivery guy did not look pleased with his tip. I don't know how delivery tipping works in Texas but I don't think tipping the delivery guy a percentage based on the bill is necessary. read more

Found our new favorite Asian restaurant. The cream cheese wontons were crispy and delicious and the chicken egg rolls were exceptional. Pork fried rice was loaded with meat and my friend's sweet and sour chicken had a terrific flavor. The owner served us the first visit. The second time, we got delivery and ordered the same items. The place smells bad inside. Not sure what it is, but it smells a bit like a sewer. Decided to go ahead and try it. Ordered the Sesame Chicken. The chicken was smoking hot (temperature), crispy, and had a nice thick sauce on it. Grade - A. No Complaints for the chicken was good. The broccoli on the side was cold. I had the lunch special, and there was enough food for 2 meals. My brother ordered the Moo Goo Guy Pan, and a cup of Hot and Sour soup. The Moo Goo Guy Pan was average needing more garlic. I just.....I don't even know where to start. I am a Mongolian Beef fanatic. I love it. LOVE it. I order it wherever I go, I even cook it at home so I'm more than familiar with how it should taste. So I ordered it for lunch from China Pot. Pricing was good, delivery was fast. I opened the bag and the sauce had spilled everywhere. It happens, but that's odd because Mongolian Beef should not have a runny, excess sauce. Or if it does, just a little, but typically the sauce is thicker like what you would get on General Tso's or Orange chicken, etc. But okay. I eat the egg roll first and it was good, so that's promising. Next, I open the fried rice and it had zero flavor.....well it had a musty flavor because it was old. Like, really old. If that was less than a week old I will eat my pants. Didn't even eat more than 2 bites and then I tossed it. Next to the beef. I don't know where they got their recipe but that was NOT Mongolian Beef. Zero sweetness, runny/thin sauce, no spice, and it did not taste like soy sauce was involved at all. It was super bland and kind of tasted like seafood. The meat was incredibly fatty and the sauce had oil spots in it. Just greasy, bland, and clearly very cheap cuts of meat. It was also pretty clear that they do not roll the meat in flour or cornstarch before frying it up because there was no crisp to it. In short, it was so terrible I would not even give them a second chance, and I am typically all about the second chances. But it was that bad. They need to buy some better meat and cook it with actual flavor. Just awful. read more

This place is incredible! I have gotten take-out twice from China Pot and I enjoyed the food very much! I recommend their Beef& Broccoli, Happy Family and Sesame Chicken! The food quality is very consistent and they all taste delicious! Happy family comes with shrimp, scallop, chicken, beef, broccoli, and mushrooms. I was surprised how fresh the shrimp and scallop were and I will definitely order Happy Family again! Also, you get a bag of yummy complementary Chinese donuts when you order $20+. I love off the beaten path hole in the wall eateries so the fact this place would be categorized as such in no way affects my rating. The fact that my food was served on plastic plates and the utensils were not even the GOOD kind of plastic utensils may have cost them. There are 4 tables which seat 4 to 6 each and no iced tea or fountain sodas; guys this is no place to bring a date unless you are carrying out! Their Hot and Sour soup (yes served in a tiny plastic bowl) was good, not as good as Imperial Garden which up to now is the standard for good Chinese in Southwest McKinney. Their Crab Rangoon was a 3 out of 5 and that's because the sauce served with was also 3 of 5. My entree of Orange Beef with Steamed Rice matched some of the best I've had. The young man who took my order and served me was 5 of 5 and although I paid at the time my order was placed he carried my food to the table and brought me utensils (those cheap crappy ones that cost you in your rating!). I plead that the owners go to Cosco and buy a set of dinnerware, silverware and when you can add a tea dispenser, fountain drinks and Glassware.
