First time coming to location, so It was noon so I ordered shrimp and broccoli with a side egg drop soup. He said the price was 17.12, so I was like hummm he said well you got the large and it come with 12 jumbo shrimp. I was like okay I will just eat half and half later. These folks get busy with takeout orders. The atmosphere isn't much to talk about but the service was fast and friendly. I ordered shrimp with veggies and a side of brown rice but the rice I got, although brown in color, wasn't what I expected. I looked like non-fried "fried" rice so don't expect a healthy rice option here. Overall: large portion size, decent takeout place, plenty of parking, friendly staff. Don't do it!!!!!! These are not the same people from the other(McDonough) location. The food is not good. My fried rice tasted like it was cooked with old grease. My hot and sour soup was much of a gelatin consistency. I took the rice back and the woman working the counter rude. NEVER will I spend another penny in this place. First off, let me say that the service wasn't rude or dismissive like I expected. The lady behind the plexi was pleasant. Second, the food wasn't horrible. Unfortunately I don't think I'll be returning to this establishment. There are a few reasons I won't be returning. The distinct greasy smell when entering the joint. I've never had Chinese food that tasted less like Chinese food than this food. The chicken smelled greasy and the Fried rice was almost tasteless. Even after the soy sauce and duck sauce, I pretty much tasted nothing. He'll, I even questioned whether I had Covid and loss sense of taste. At least I can't say it tasted bad. This place was clean on the inside busy but food is made to order. I got two combo plates the food was nice and hot it was delicious. I really liked how spicy the general Tso chicken was it had a taste most places don't it say spicy and u get spicy. I purchased two hibachi meals with shrimp, beef and chicken with fried rice this evening! The shrimp tasted like ammonia, and spoiled our $40 meal. I called the restaurant to report my experience and the lady who answered the phone was rude, defensive. She told me no others customers complained about their shrimp and hung up the phone in my face! She didn't apologize about our experience or offer reimbursement. I'm disappointed about poor customer service received by the staff and will never patronize the business again!!!!!!! read more

Update: I visited them yesterday and they have what I would consider Chow Mein now (althought they call it Lo Mien for some reason). So I give them another star. Before: This place opened up a few weeks ago and I am glad a Chinese restaurant is FINALLY near me and I don't have to go to Atlanta... or do I? Their food is good, the place is CLEAN and nice inside. The people are friendly and nice - but I had an issue with what they call chow mein - it seems nobody out here knows what chow mein is - although I see what I want in the first image on Wikipedia! The WORDS CHOW MIEN literally means "STIR FRIED NOODLES" - but I got a dish with not ONE NOODLE in it. When I called the restaurant the first time the cashier explained that they don't use noodles, and had a whole description of how their chow mein is a all vegetables, except for the chosen meat. I was about to accept that until I saw the menu and it states "Chow Mein (with fried noodles)" Then it was round two. I spoke to her and another person (the cook) and I was told they forgot the noodle. I was wondering how they forgot the noodles when they are stir-fried in - and then she says "It's a noodle packet, like crackers like what you get for soup...". I told her I have been eating Chow Mein - specifically Beef Chow Mein for 30 years and have NEVER had a chow mein dish without stir-fried noodles! SHe acted like she never heard of it. We just moved into the neighborhood and we were excited to try a Chinese place so close to our house. I'm pleased to say that we had a great experience with a carryout order. The staff was friendly and the food was fresh and hot. I ordered General Tso's Chicken which was not too sweet but not spicy at all. I would have preferred a little spice but I will get it again anyway. I tried the crab rangoon, as well, which was satisfyingly crunchy and had just the right amount of sweetness. I'm eager to try other menu items when we return in the future. read more

I used to come here a lot when they first opened. Came here yesterday got veggie egg foo young. It wasn't worth $9. The patties were small and burnt with frozen carrots and peas for the veggies. The gravy was an odd mustard yellow color so in the trash it went. I have had their meat options before and they weren't bad. So just don't waste your money on the egg foo young. read more

Save your time and money . Super expensive and every time i order for a combo meal i get charged for 4 items and not 2 combos. This is the only Chinese restaurant that has ever done this my years living in ATLANTA. Its crazy because for what they charge my wife and I paid the same thing at a hibachi restaurant and it was well worth it . I bought 2 General taos with Pork Fried Rice thinking it would be a combo, paid close to $30 because they charged me everything separately. My order; 1 combo/w white rice and brown gravy 1 small order of shrimp fried rice. Customer satisfaction is not a strong point for this place, China Star. They could care less, especially once you pay for your food. I ordered, paid for my food and went home only to realize they forgot my white rice which automatically comes with the combo I ordered. I called Before heading back to let them know what happened and the woman that answered the phone was very rude and unyielding, she wouldn't listen at all. In addition to the white rice I ordered a small shrimp fried rice...she says the fried rice cancels the white rice and charged me for the fried and said I would have to pay extra for the white rice. I'm like, so confused....Anyways, if I go back, I will confirm my order before I pay(because they ain't trying to do no refunds) and check before I leave. The food was so-so, not as flavorful as I am used to. My biggest complaint is about the two small children left unattended in the restaurant during our entire meal. Neither had shoes on yet there were running all around the restaurant and in & out of the kitchen. The small girl got on top of the table and was dancing around as well. These children belonged to one of the workers. I hope that is was a one time conflict with baby sitting and isn't business as normal for this establishment. read more

I tried the place out months ago and wasn't very pleased -- low quality Chinese food. I decided to try it again since my son and I was in the area at walmart. My son love some Sesame Chicken. Lol. Best shrimp fried rice in Ellenwood. There aren't many places you can find "okay" Chinese food around here but this place makes up for it.
