    "chicken fried rice"
    Rj R.

Ordered through Doordash. Food wasnt good. Chicken fried rice was weird. Egg foo yong was bland. Beef pepper-steak wasn't good same with Sweet & sour chicken. I don't recommend the place and would not order from them again.

Don't let this pic fool you.

So I don't even know how this place got the rating it did. Especially if you compare it to the Awesome place on the other side of King George named China Wok. Where to even begin... ummm... well hell to be blunt. I am skipping everything else. Decor and Service because both were decent. The important problem would be the food. Meh I won't ever be lazy again! I will be taking my butt on through the light and on to the other side of King George. Egg rolls- were just all the way disgusting. If you put a gun to my head and asked me to say something good about them or I would die, then I'd probably die on the spot. They were soggy grease soaked and EMPTY! I am talking barely anything in it. I gave them to the dogs. ( they enjoyed them) Shredded Chicken - I ordered this thinking it was going to be chocked full of chicken, instead it seems as though i got a half an onion and an entire bell pepper with a side of chicken. The sauce of it was awesome and so was the chicken. I was displeased with the amount of chicken. Chicken & Shrimp Terriyaki - Nope! they should just leave that to the Japaneses. Enough said. Not only that i counted 7 shrimp in my dinner... Chicken lo Mein - Dry! Chicken & Broccoli - they like to put lots of veggies in their dishes to cover up the lack of the protein. The sauce that it was cooked in was flavorless. The side of brown sauce that we ordered was awesome though. Shrimp Fried Rice - Was pretty good. Still not better than CHINA WOK. Chicken Fried Rice - Meh... Honestly to sum it all up. This place will more than likely never see me again... EVER.. even if CHINA WOK closed.. NEVER! EVER! Do yourself a favor and go across to China Wok. Seriously I promise you that you won't be disappointed. I give this place the first 1 Star ever :\

All I can say is just eww and no! If you're in Georgetown, China Wok is much better! My chicken was undercooked nearly raw.

Visited the area from out of state. I ordered the Eggplant with garlic sauce and it was the best I've had.

Good for but over the years they have gotten lazy with the vegetable delight by doing 90% broccoli and 10% other vegetable.

Consistently delicious food and friendly, quick, excellent service. China Taste is the only Asian take-out food I eat in Savannah.

I was debating between the Fried green tomato BLT or the Caprese Grilled cheese then our server Kristin suggested the mussels and that is what I ended up with and I am so glad I did. These were absolutely the best mussels I've ever had. The sauce was not the traditional garlic/shallot wine sauce but had more tomato and basil reminiscent of warm bruschetta. I had to borrow my husbands spoon to get every bit of that sauce after I finished my mussels. My husband had the famous shrimp and grits which he absolutely loved. He noted it wasn't overpowered with sausage like most other restaurants do but had a perfect balance of flavor. My mom got the lamb burger and also loved every bite. She loved lamb so as soon as she saw that she had no doubt what she was going to order. Both my husband and mom loved every bite. I can see why The Public Kitchen is so popular. The restaurant has some indoor and outdoor seating with a mix of tables and banquets along the walls. It was comfortable without being too crowded. This was my first visit to The Public but It definitely won't be my last.

Verenice was the BEST! Give that girl a raise or a promotion! She was doing it all! From taking orders, bringing food out, and cleaning up tables! She helped us navigate the menu/ordering. She also brought out our food to the table and was so helpful during our first time here. There were lots of ramen options to choose from. You choose your broth and meat option and that tells you your price. You can add extra toppings for additional costs. Runs about less than $20 a person. They have fountain drink options as well as other Asian drinks. They have rice bowl options as well as meat on a stick. They don't have kids meal options but it's about $8 for noodles and broth. Which is a good option for kids. I ordered shoyu broth for my son. I didn't realize it would taste so salty. I understand it's a soy sauce broth. But most ramen broths I've had isn't to that degree. I asked if they could add hot water to the hot water to make it less salty. Verenice again was so helpful, she brought the ramen back out and said if I needed more water added to just ask. I will say I did not appreciate the additional comments from some of the kitchen staff. The place is decorated with lots of anime characters. They have a vending machine with goodies. A claw machine with stuffed animals and lots of Pokémon cards for sale.

The service was good. You place your order at the counter and pay before finding a seat. However, the food was a bit underwhelming. The tonkotsu ramen was mediocre and would have been better if it had been served steaming hot. The fish cake skewers were also okay. Overall, I wasn't very impressed with the food. I'm glad I was able to try it, but I'm unlikely to return.
