They were extremely rude, and I don't feel comfortable having my food handled by people who treat customers this way. We have been ordering out from Wangs at least twice a month since the Pandemic and even before. A favorite Sunday night dinner at home. Usually the food is very good to excellent, however last night something was wrong. Not sure if they have a new or substitute chef, but my "hot and sour soup" was awful--bland with very little taste. I actually added some hot mustard that they give you which helped a drop. Then our Eggplant in garlic sauce with added tofu had no garlic flavor at all. Just a thick rich dark sauce definitely missing something. And our MuShoo Chicken had the most pungent onions in it--and had more onions than usual. We usually love the mix of cabbage, carrots and onions and other ingredients included, but last night the flavor was way off. Since all our dishes were not up to par, we are wondering why?? We will be reluctant to order again unless there is a good excuse and hopefully this will not happen again. Would love to hear back from you. read more

Enjoyed an intimate 74th birthday celebration with six close friends. We were seated behind a screen for privacy. Wait staff, as always, was attentive and helpful. Restaurant was quiet and we were able to have conversation without shouting or straining to hear each other. We ordered the dinner for 7, which allowed for substitutions. We added a chicken and eggplant dish in lieu of scallops and sweet and sour. Every dish was fresh and flavorful. This is one of my favorite Savannah restaurants and they did not disappoint. We ordered food through Door Dash. The very small amounts of food were overpriced. The Hot & Sour soup tasted like something had rotted in it. I know it's a tough economy, but we paid so much for the small amounts of food, and it didn't taste good. What used to be a favorite (Walnut Chicken) was such a tiny portion. Do not order from here. It was Lunar New Year last Saturday, which also means another chance to start with a clean slate if January 1st didn't work out LOL. In Korean culture, there are certain things that you must eat on this joyous occasion, like noodles and a soup called Ddukmanduguk which translates to Rice Cake Dumpling Soup. In Chinese culture, you must also eat noodles, dumplings and spring rolls among other things. Noodles are for longevity (long life), dumplings to "exchange" the old year with the new and Spring rolls are eaten on the first day of Spring. The dishes vary among the different Asian countries, but the meanings are very similar. In an effort to start off the New Year right (again) and to prolong all our lives, I went searching for a Chinese restaurant to eat all the Chinese goods, since I was going to cook all the Korean noodles and dumplings for dinner. I stumbled upon Wang's II (WII) and after reading some of my fellow Yelpers reviews, I knew I had to give this place a try (S/O to John H. and Chui M.!) - Parking - Center Lot. - Vibe - Now this is the quintessential Chinese Mom and Pop restaurant that I have been looking for in Savannah! Chinese decor, lions at the gate (entrance), water fountain, but more importantly, there are 2 menus! One menu is entirely in English which is probably the one you are going to get initially and if you speak Chinese or look like you're well versed in Chinese cuisine, they'll offer you the bilingual one with entirely different items on the menu (oooooobviously, you want this one)! - Service - There were 2 people working the floor, a young girl and guy, and not sure if she was training or they like to work as a tag team, but either way, both took care of us and were super nice, polite and very helpful. - Eats/Refreshments - They provide a great value for both Lunch and Dinner menu options. Lunch (as well as dinner) comes with a choice of rice or Fried Rice AND a choice of Egg Roll, Spring Roll or Soup (Wonton, Egg Drop or Hot & Sour). Portions were generous and most of the Lunch items were under $10! Won Ton Chips and Plum Sauce? - Upon arrival, just like you would get Chips and Salsa at a Mexican restaurant, they bring you a small bowl of Fried Won Ton chips and plum sauce? (or something like it) and hot mustard. I don't like the Hot Mustard so I pushed that to the side. The chips and sauce were pretty good! My youngest loved them. Won Ton Soup - It was pretty basic (refer to pic). The broth didn't have much flavor nor color. It seemed watered down and lacked the chicken flavor and I think it could use a little bit of freshness and some color. Chopped green onions would have done the trick, but the won tons were good! Don't worry, read on. It gets good after the Spring Rolls.... Spring Rolls - This was my least favorite. Both my youngest and I were turned off by something in them. I just can't put my finger on it, but for some reason, my oldest loved them so there you go, to each their own. Prawns in Lobster Sauce - I find it so interesting how certain Chinese dishes are just different all around North America. For example, what is called General Tso around here, back home in Montreal the General's name is Tao. This goes the same for Lobster Sauce. Around here, the sauce is basically an egg drop soup as a sauce. In Montreal, it's an egg drop sauce but with black beans added to it. Anyway, I ordered this with my youngest in mind. She loves eggs and shrimps. It had good flavor. Shrimps were cooked perfectly. There are peas and carrots in it as well. House Lo Mein (Pork, Chicken, Shrimp) - You have to ask for "House" if you want all three meats. I only saw the Lo Mein with each individual meats listed, so when I asked, they told me it was called House Lo Mein. I didn't pay attention to the final price on the bill, but it must not have been anything too significant, since my bill didn't seem out of the ordinary. I ordered this one with my oldest in mind. Dan Dan Noodles - *Peanut Alert* Now a dish for me! This Szechuan dish is spicy with thicker noodles in a slightly thicker sauce with a slight peanut taste so I had to ask and they confirmed the peanut content. It had quite a kick and surprisingly, my youngest loved it too, but she's got a pretty sophisticated palette for a little human. This was definitely the highlight of the meal In my opinion, but my kids would beg to differ. We made quite a dent in our order, even though the portions were generous and it came with the rice and all the extras. We still had a lot leftover that we took a whole box home. It was also pretty good the next day! Along with what we had at WII and what I made for dinner that night, we ate our weight in noodles and dumplings, so we are definitely on the right track to a fresh new start and we should live until we are 150 LOL! Uber Eats, plus AmEx credits, equals Saturday lunch from Wang's II. I've had at least a meal from here once before, as I see my husband left a review, but clearly I haven't taken the time to write one myself. This time we had sweet and sour chicken - a staple for my husband; sautéed string beans and beef; crab rangoons; and fried dumplings. It took about 45 minutes for our food to arrive, which wasn't a surprise to us. It was still warm and our order was correct. They have got to have the creamiest crab rangoons around. Excuse me as I make a mental note. Both lunch dishes arrived with steamed rice. The string beans and beef was definitely high on the sodium side, but I guess I should have expected that. They also provided a healthy serving of sweet and sour sauce. All in all, it was a good lunch (plus a snack) experience for us. read more

On this visit I had the chicken and vegetables with steam rice,$7.95. It was worth the money filling and satisfying, I tried to order take out before but didn't turn out quite as I hoped, possibly ordered the wrong items. I've been living in Savannah for a little over a year now and this is the first Chinese restaurant that I can call somewhat authentic. If you live in town and you like real Chinese/Sichuan/Hunan food, this is the place for you. They have a decent variety of dishes and they have a menu that's only in Chinese (they gave me the Chinese-only menu after they asked if I spoke Chinese). We ordered dry pot beef, spicy wonton, dan dan noodles, spicy and sour potatoes and cumin beef. This is the closest to authentic Chinese food I've found in Savannah so I was pleasantly surprised. The food is pretty spicy so if you can't eat spicy, you should let your server know. Food was pretty good (considering it's in a smaller town), service was good, I took one star off because the restaurant looks really old and desperately needs some work and the fact that this would be just an ok Chinese restaurant if it were in a bigger city with more Asian restaurant selection. I personally will go back for sure because it's hard to find good Asian food in Savannah. read more

The only place in Savannah for good quality, authentic Chinese food. It's always consistent and service is attentive and excellent, plus the presentation is always beautiful. I may be a tough judge of Chinese food, being from NYC, the Chinese culinary capital of the world, but Kudos to Wang 11 and the servers who go above and beyond. It's one of the few restaurants that you feel that you have truly dined and been served. Abundant parking and reasonably priced. This is probably the closest to an authentic Chinese restaurant in Savannah. To be clear, it lacks the finesse and flavor for a better rating. However, you will find some dishes that will not be offered elsewhere such as the braised items. A new paint color would give the place a face lift. Another pet peeve is the low quality rice that accompanies the food. Rice is a staple and it mars any dish it accompanies. If you are looking for the Americanized General Tsao dishes it is available, but part of the charm is to explore other items. read more

What is authenticity in Savannah? There are lots of places I think, in my limited understanding of Chinese victuals, that seem to be authentic. But what do I know? I didn't even know there was an egg in fried rice until recently. I thought Applebees Oriental chicken salad was pretty darned authentic. There is a better way though to settle once and for all where in Savannah to go for authentic Chinese food--go to dinner with a group of students from China. You don't think a group of Chinese kids with cell phones won't know where to go? I asked them what restaurant is most like home and the answer was overwhelmingly Wangs II. So off we went. A frisson of joy at finding a parking spot right by the front door, I mean even closer than the handicapped spot, confused me and left me wondering what does it mean that I found a parking spot? I should be more trusting. That's what most of my Chinese fortune cookies say anyway. There were lots of smiles and Chinese greetings and crosstalk when we walked in, the hostess eyeing me like the kids had just arrived with a pet Kodiak bear. I made a rule when we were seated. No Chinese talk allowed while I was there--unless, of course, there was a fire or somebody was choking on their Peking Duck. There are very good reasons for this--one, they have to practice their English anyway and this is a good way, trying to interpret my grunts and weird syntax is like a Master's class, and two, you know and I know they will talk about you. The server brought THE MENU. Not the one that most Americans get, that's all fried everything. This is THE MENU that actual Chinese people order from. I did not understand their meal process so when they deferred to me to order first, I made a hash out of it. I wanted Hot & Sour soup. The menu stated clearly that it was for two. I thought, hell, this is for Chinese people, it will be served in a teacup. Well, it arrived in a vat. Along with the other vat of soup that came just because we were there. I could have eaten for 6 days and still had enough Hot & Sour soup left over to soak my feet in. What I didn't get was that everything that was ordered was for sharing. The girl next to me ordered a cabbage dish and I was like, what a sad, lonely existence she must have in her hometown that she would come all the way over to America and order cabbage. The other two students ordered a peppery chicken and sliced beef dish and when all of it arrived, including my aquarium of soup, mounds of steamed rice, and scallion pancakes--I UNDERSTOOD. We were going to share food! And that's when the party started. Chopsticks were clicking and clacking and the kids zipped around the table spearing a ribbon of this, a chunk of that. I decided to put my chopsticks down before I put someone's eye out. We all had a little bit of everything until most of it was gone--even the cabbage. There is a level of cooperation and communication that is implicit when eating this way--I felt like we negotiated like happy lawyers to make sure everyone got a chance at the tastiest bits. We stopped in here for some Chinese food while on vacation. The staff was very polite and helpful. One even joked that they were out of meat and everything was now tofu based. I told him ok ill try it, then he let me in on the joke. It was actually very funny. I had lo mein and it was delicious. My wife had General Tsos Chicken and it was very good too. We shared dumplings and an egg roll. The egg roll was good but the dumplings were very very good. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who enjoys Chinese food. Honestly, my less glowing review is not due to their food, but due to how they handled their business. A few years ago, I brought a party of ten to the place. I preordered all the dishes, so when we arrived, everything could be brought out quickly. Food was good. I was happy as the host of the dinner until I saw they overcharged me on the soup. They misled me about the soup price when I did the preorder--I thought the whole soup cost $10, but instead they charged me $10 per person for that regular hot and sour soup. I tried to reason with them with no success. I haven't been back since that incident. read more

WOW! WOW! Some of the best food of any cuisine I've ever had! I was looking at Jalepeno Chicken because I'd had a beef and jalepeno thing here that was wonderful. It was so spicy that it took me 3 days and a lot of rice to work through but that attests to how great it was (and still remembered from 3 years ago). Today we got chicken with Chinese eggplant. I sort of missed my Jalepeno but this is soooo good! Delivered food is often problematic. The food often suffers in travel. Not this. Very hot (temperature). Flavor is exceptional. If you don't normally go for eggplant, believe me when I say that this is not off-putting. What? Amateur eggplant? Very pleasant. Not overbearing. I've about given up on most Chinese restaurants. So much tastes like it was heated in sea water. No garlic, no spiciness, nothing bright and happy. Wang II delivers the goods. Authentic? I can't answer that. It's just really good food. For now I've given up on bad reviews. I may have missed something due to a new cuisine or delivery issues and I don't want to inadvertently hurt a business. Was in the area and dying for good Chinese food. For some reason I've had a hard time finding a place with good food. Searched on here for a take out place and found Wangs. So I figured I'd give it a try. I gotta say the food I got was very good. Ordered W-11 rice angel hair noodles with shrimp. Very good. Lots of shrimp too. Also ordered house special fried rice. We've been going here off and on for years. Lately it's been 2 or 3 times a month. Today they charged an extra $2 because I wanted snow peas instead of mushrooms and on another dish $2 for a tablespoon of puffed rice. I think it's time to broaden my horizons. read more

This has been a years-long favorite restaurant for my husband. We moved out of the local area and only recently stopped in the area for dinner. There's always a little concern when stopping at a long time favorite place after not going for years. Has their quality declined? Are their ingredients still good? How about the staff? Fortunately, it was just as good as he remembered! He had his favorite walnut chicken which was exactly what he's been craving. I got the scallion pancake and honey chicken. The scallion pancake...let me tel you. I could have eaten a whole plate piled with them. It was so savory and the scallions used were obviously fresh. The honey chicken was very very lightly battered and fried so it was sooooo light and crispy. The staff was very kind and attentive for everything we needed. We will absolutely be going again! This place is tailored for Americans, despite others saying it is authentic. Portions are small and price is above your typical Chinese restaurant. You can easily spend $30 per person for dinner. However, the dishes are savory. Do not expect their dishes to be the same of that you are used to. It could be so different that you'd think it's a different dish. You may or may not like their interpretation of it. For example, their fried rice is quite different but actually is better than what I have had and their peppered squid dish is a disappointment. The waiters are nice and do give you some attention but lack knowledge of the dishes. Do not expect them to know the dishes better than you. Overall, dishes are savory but over priced from my experience across the states, including areas that living expenses are much higher than Savanah. read more
