Fried Shrimp , Orange Chicken and Spicy Shrimp with mixed Vegetables .

Ok, after reading a review, I decided to stop in. I made it 30 minutes before closing. I hope it is not a bad time because she wasn't going to serve the lady that came 15 minutes to closing, but the chef decided he would but limited her to what she could order since I made 4 orders. They were trying to close and go home. I can hear them in the kitchen going back an forth. Neither of us had eaten here before and were going off reviews. It is a mom-and-pop spot, I have passed here many times. The location is good but limited parking. The inside is old and needs a makeover. You can eat in or take out. She wanted me to order based on the pictures, but I asked for a menu instead. It is very quiet this time of night and being the only one in the place. All that really matters is how fresh and tasty the food will be. All was made to order so a bit of a wait. All is good, but next time I will have to ask if they will make it more to my preferred custom licking.

    1. Shrimp with Broccoli

I ordered the shrimp and broccoli combo from Uber eats and the food was prepared really well. I'm from the north east and trying to find shrimp and broccoli the way it is made from where I am from has been the biggest struggle for me here in the Houston area. I've tried numerous places and none seemed to compare except China Wok. The shrimp was cooked just right and the food was fresh and flavorful. The fried rice was also prepared very well. The combo was around $8.50 and came with an egg roll that was also good. This will probably be my new favorite go to Chinese place.

    9. Fried Crab Rangoon 3. House Special Lo Mein 2. Sweet and Sour Shrimp

Ordered takeout through doordash $60 worth. Got the crab Rangoon's , Sweet and sour shrimp, general Tso chicken , combination lomein and Szechuan beef. For the most part it was a good portion size , but still a little pricey. The chicken was actually pretty good, could've used more spice but overall flavour was good. The beef needed more flavour and less veggies, but it was not horrible. The crab rangoons had really good flavour. The Lomein was filled with meat and nice textured noodles. The sweet and sour shrimp was more like a shrimp tempura, which was new but delicious. Will definitely be trying them again

I have driven by this restaurant numerous times and never really thought about visiting since there are bars in the windows. However, I was wanting to try somewhere new and close to work one day, so I finally stopped in. The soft spoken waitress gladly explained some of the various differences of the beef dishes on the menu. I ended up ordering a typical item I like, the Pepper Steak, made spicy. Although it wasn't spicy at all. Lunch specials are pretty much $6.55 here and come with a choice of soup, eggroll and either fried rice or steamed. I went with the wonton and fried rice just to try it out, even though I'm not really a big fan of it. The waitress must have came by 3 times to refill my iced tea, which was cool. Only 1 other dine-in customer during a slow lunch hour I suppose. A few customers came in while I was there to get orders to go and someone had the nerve to ask how much is it for 1 chicken wing. The food was about average for a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant, the interior was very clean and service was above average. The food is made to order, so it will come out hot each and every time. Even the eggroll was hot and crispy, not soggy in the least. I'd give this place 3.5 stars if I could. The worst part may be the atmosphere. It's just at the end of a quiet shopping center and if it's not busy that day, it could get eerily quiet, unless she turns on one of the TV's.

Stopped into China Wok late night (right before they closed) with a mean craving for fried rice & cream cheese puffs, and that is precisely what I ordered!! When I pulled up to the strip it was a little eerie feeling, but they had a security guard on duty making rounds & there want a lot of activity. When I walked in the place was empty, but it was closing time & I didn't mind that at all. The little man jumped up and headed to the kitchen & this pleasant little lady came from the back to assist me with my order. She was so sweet, soft spoken w/ a friendly smile. I ordered the house fried rice (chicken, beef, shrimp), the crispy spring rolls & cream cheese rangoons. The fried rice was some of the BEST I have had in a long time. True fried rice, with the brown coloring so you know there is some soy sauce in there. The meat inside was quality & with great portions & it was still steaming hot when I made it back to my house! The cream cheese puffs were average, but good. The crispy spring rolls were just that, crispy, long and slender in shape & tasty. Overall I love this place, happy to have found my little quick spot for some good Chinese while I'm here in Houston!

Absolute garbage pay an extra dollar or two and go to a better place please... i ordered the kungpao beef it was salty as hell and it came with about 5 pieces if meat and then my colleague ordered the magnolian beef (lunch special )and i swear ive never seen a more disgusting plate it was literally just onions and 4 pieces of meat and yes we counted them and omg dont get me started on the soup the egg drop soup I recommend yall to smell it before eating it cuz it smelled rotten...nope never again!

It served it's purpose. I got the S/S chicken and was surprised it came with seasoned fried rice. The whole lunch special was 6.55 which was nice. I'd definitely go back and try something else. Sometimes S/S chicken at places can taste the same.

This place had such good reviews. I had to taste it for myself.

Damn good. The owner is super sweet and the food is on the better end of Americanized chinese. The portions are generous and well worth the drive.

    The best chicken fried rice.

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

No complaints here since we were starving from an 8 hour road trip. The Dan Dan Noodles...I had high expectations but sadly this dish fell short. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.

I've done Peking…read moreCuisine for years and shifted to Arco for my duck cravings, but if you're willing to drive out to Humble (pretty much anytime you're in the IAH area), you gotta check out Bamboo House for the best Peking duck. And their other menu items are fire as well! We went on a Sunday late evening. We had a 9 pm airport pickup at IAH so it was a perfect opportunity to grab a spectacular dinner and make the 30+ minute drive out to IAH totally worth it. Parking lot wasn't too full so that wasn't an issue. While the neighborhood ain't River Oaks luxury, it ain't too scary either. We kept it simple - ordered a whole duck and Bamboo House Special Noodle with Beef. This place ain't cheap but the food is worth every penny. It was very busy that evening so it's not a well-kept secret but also proves that eventually, Houstonians will figure out where the good food is. The duck was near perfect. They serve the duck with the pancakes (as opposed to the buns like at Arco) which is my preference. The soup that comes with it was also extremely flavorful. And the house special noodles with beef - oh my. I swear it's just one really long noodle so you may be frustrated trying to divvy up the family style bowl, but the labor is worth it. So good... Can't wait for my next airport run so I can sneak in a lunch or dinner at this place. So many other menu items I want to try!

I had previously visited the now closed Bamboo House on Westheimer and I remember being impressed by the food. I had to make an airport run and decided that it would be perfect timing to stop by this location. I highly recommend ordering the duck ahead of time, but we were lucky enough to snag one of the last ducks when we arrived around 7 pm on a Sunday evening. The waitress was super friendly and upbeat and the restaurant is older but well maintained. You can see where the food is being prepared/cooked and you can see ducks being cooked/warmed behind a glass window. The duck was absolutely spectacular with the perfect seasoned and tender meat accompanied by well rendered crispy skin. I love how the pancakes are paper thin and pair well with the scrumptious duck and other toppings. They also provide sugar and plum sauce as additional toppings which I thought was interesting but not my cup of tea. The duck soup was extremely flavorful and full bodied and went well with the duck. The noodles were also amazing with likely hand pulled noodles served with an abundance of tender beef and vegetables with a little Sichuan kick. I was intrigued by a strawberry chicken dish that I saw on the menu and I plan to try it the time. My diagnosis: hands down the best Peking duck in the greater Houston area!
