I haven't ordered from this restaurant in several years because I was dissapointed that last time we went there. We decided to try it again. I called and ordered pickup. I asked for a PuPu platter. They said that they called it something different but that all the food was the same. It was a lie. There was supposed to be fantail shrimp in it but they put crab rangoon instead. The other parts of the platter were good We also ordered chicken and broccoli which is always good no matter where you go but it was definitely sub par. We also ordered chicken lo mein which was really horrible. It was the worst I ever had from any chinese restaurant. Not only did it lack flavor but it was mushy-I guess from being overcooked. Even the piece of carrot I ate was mushy. Overall we were very dissapointed. It will likely be a long time again before we revisit this place. I definitely would not recommend it. First time trying China wok and they did not disappoint. The lady i spoke with was soooo sweet and had so much patience with me since I made a big order. The food was amazing, I ordered the wonton soup, general toast, beef with broccoli, pork fried rice, white rice, Kung po chicken, egg rolls and a mango tea drink and it was all good. This restaurant is consistently decent and consistently empty. Not sure why. The food is pretty good, enough that we go back and either eat there or do takeout several times per year. It's the service that is strange. Not unfriendly, but oddly detached. They just don't seem to be happy to see anyone. That does affect the atmosphere. Still, we like the food and will continue to show up. I'm just not sure for how long such a large restaurant will be there when we do. Certainly good enough to try if you haven't. Ordered food and they messed up my order but told me it's my fault. Pizza roll is what I ordered and they say I ordered spring roll. I have never ordered spring rolls. She told me it's my fault. The chicken noodle soup was good, served slightly warm though. I ordered sweet and sour chicken, comes with white rice. The breaded chicken was too breaded, mostly bread actually and not very appetizing. My wife ordered crispy chicken and shrimp combo, this also comes with white rice. Again the chicken was mostly bread , and not only that, but the bread part of the chicken was hardened, like it was reheated after it was cooked a while ago. I ordered Moo Shu Chicken as I have done (and enjoyed) before. While I usually ask for no egg, I did not do so this time. I'm not sure whether that's the reason why but there was so little chicken in the dish that it was ridiculous. I called the restaurant regarding the lack of chicken and the person I spoke to was unbelievably rude. She also said she would notate my phone number so that I could not order moo shu anymore. I have been going to this location for many years, ever since they took over from the original China Bowl. They recently added pizza rolls to their menu (I don't remember them having it previously, but I love them!) They also provide extra sweet and sour sauce when requested which is amazing! The only thing that they don't appear to have listed on the menu like they used to was almond cookies, those were always one of my favorites! read more

This place is a hidden gem. I love that they are B.Y.O.B. They are a Chinese restaurant but also serve sushi. There is a parking lot in front of the building. They offer take out and 2 large private rooms for parties. I have not seen the restaurant overly packed so you do not need reservations. I would however call if you have a large party so they can accommodate you. Monday thru Saturday they offer a lunch menu. The first time I was here I ordered Sesame Chicken. It came with soup and white rice. I really enjoyed the chicken, it was not super greasy or over fried. They do serve fried noodles and duck sauce when you sit down but hot mustard was upon request. The second time I ordered the Orange Chicken. It was delicious, it was not part of the lunch special so soup was not part of the meal. I would love to come for dinner with a nice bottle of wine one night. read more

This is my go to local Chinese place. They recently redid the entire place and it's really nice inside! I only ever go here to grab take out but will eventually get around to dining in. They are also BYOB! This order we got Chicken Rice soup and Miso soup. An order of Fried Dumplings, one Egg Roll, Beef Lo Mein and Moo Shu Vegetables. The Chicken Rice soup isn't on their menu but they happily will make it if you request it (super simple!) The soup has a great tasting broth and is super filling with the chicken + rice. They top it off with scallions on the top. The Miso Soup is pretty standard, nothing unique going on there. The Egg Rolls and Pork Dumplings were nice and crispy and not overly greasy! Normally I order the Vegetable or Chicken Lo Mein but switched it up this time and got the Beef Lo Mein which was a good choice and I think my new fav! I personally wasn't a fan of the Moo Shu Vegetables. They came with all veggies I like but I wasn't feeling the sauce. My friend really liked the veggies tho but no one liked the pancakes they came with! read more

(Temporary review until I've returned again) Mandarin Gardens in Willow Grove (now closed) make it hard to compare any Chinese restaurant. The addition of "fusion" only muddies the waters. China Wok was my first return to Chinese in months, so I kept it simple. I needed to compare China Wok to Mandarin Gardens. I had my (mandatory) wonton soup. The broth did taste like authentic wonton, but the dumpling shell was too thick and the filling a hard lump. The saving grace was egg foo yung. Mandarin Gardens didn't serve it. China Wok's (with roast pork) was phenomenal. So, I'd rate the soup as 2 and egg foo yung as 5, the average being 3. The decor was nice and pleasant. My wife's lemon chicken was good (4). All in all, it's worth a stop. I'll have to return to try my Mandarin Gardens favorites to update this review. read more

I'm going to do this anal-retentive OCD list style, since the previous reviews pretty much have it right. 1. Take out is cheaper than eating in. 2. Fried rice is bland and not very good. In fact, I'd say China Bowl down the street has a better, more flavorful fried rice. 3. Lo mein is alright. 4. Interior decor is quite nice, colorful, interesting and comforting. 5. Service is good. 6. Some dishes are better than others. I'm sure most would be pleased with the sweet & savory dishes, including General Tso, black bean sauce dishes, and the likes of garlic or Szechuan. 7. Having tea inside is pleasant. 8. China Wok has been and continues to be my go to local Chinese restaurant. They have recently branched out and included other Asian cuisine to their menu but I stick with their Chinese food and have yet to try the other options. Inside the seating is ample which means it's great for large groups--just make sure to BYOB if you want to drink! Parking is right at the door and convenient to the restaurant. It is updated and is simplistic and clean. The nicest local Chinese restaurant I have been in to date. The food is very consistent and tasty! Some of my go to platters are chicken Lo mein, steamed dumplings, crab rangoons, egg drop or wonton soup. My food has always been ready for pick up and brought to my table in a timely manner and the staff is always wonderful and friendly. If you are looking for a yummy Chinese food dinner China Wok is a perfect spot! read more

We understood and ordered what was available. A couple weeks later we called wanted sushi and we got the same excuse they were "too busy" to make sushi. This time we hung up and ordered from somewhere else. Today we decided to give them one more chance because we weren't ordering sushi. Ordered General tso combination platter with pork fried rice. First time I've ever had rice from a Chinese takeout that was yellow. That being said, the rice was hard and almost crunchy. Lacked flavor. Chicken was ok but was barely sauced. I'll pass on ordering from here again. read more
